Heh, Fu.
A friend suggested Loof.
I thought Minmo, because of a tweet I saw about a random Silent Hill 3 sign about a cat.

Minmo

I'm thinking it's likely between Jester, Loki, Doppler, and now because of Drizztlink, I kinda want a name with a title for fun.
Dr. Muffins, lol

Oh!
I bought new non clumping kitty litter, easy on paws, harder to clean! Lol
New Pedialyte just in case, and a poop scoop...for the non clump litter -_-
Also I've gotten not stressed enough to sleep near its box well apparently.
I feel good today.

So I think I was feeding too much, and he's got a pudge belly now.
I saw conflicting info, but apparently it should be roughly 5 or 6 tbsp given what his weight is, per day.
His bottle holds 4 and he drinks almost all of it each feeding. 1/4 left.
I feed him 3 or 4 times, so...I think that might be why he had diarrhea.

I need to portion him, even if he would eat more.

I believe you are supposed to spend a while watching the kitten from a distance to see if its mother comes for it.
Unfortunately it was standing and crying right where one of our vehicles would come barreling in in a bit, I didn't want to risk it getting run over.
I dunno about momma, she let it wander off, but maybe she just went to eat something and come back, dunno.

Its doin much better now. It gets up, walk around, meows, and even bites again.
When I put my hand into the box it will sometimes climb it.

Mom has left wet food inside box for when I'm gone, and he's been eating it and drinking formula.
His stool was more solid than before, I think that's good.

If he's not eating enough you might have to go to syringe feeding, especially if he's losing weight.
He's been getting better about eating lately, as in the last few feedings.
He was really bad over weekend but he definitely has more energy now.

The cat lady syringe fed him when we met her, and gave us one.
Luckily for me he took 3 tablespoons of formula + Pedialyte a hour ago. He drinks til he's done, then I coax him to do a little more later.

Man wtf with Pedialyte?
Get rid of 48 hrs after opening? How ami supposed to use that much!?

But yes, he's definitely better than he was a couple days ago.
I wonder if this will stunt his growth.
He is clearly developing though, as his claws are now retractable.

Not to be a downer, but by recent pics, it doesn't look like the weight it should be given the age of the topic and pictures.

From my experience of losing a kitten to FKS, please be very careful. It comes very sudden and they pass within a night.

For example, the kittens I'm caring for seem to be maybe 2-3 weeks ahead of yours and one was hurt, but they are very strong and healthy now. Stuff like lethargy are very bad signs.

Once again, this is some very good stuff. I at least have a mother cat helping. I can't imagine doing it all alone.
Yeah, I understand.
Before the recent turn, he was fat bellied, just not growing much. And very playful, unlikely FKS.

But yeah, I'm scared. Luckily, even though he was refusing/being super finicky over our mix formula, he took to it after several attempts, and drank relatively 2 tablespoons.
Will try again later. Set a small lid with more in his box, as I've read that's a thing.

So there's some bad, and good news.
Ever since trying to go solid food, it has eaten a little, but its lost weight, and energy. It doesn't play anymore.
It sleeps and poops where it sleeps, which has been hell on laundry.
I read if this happens to go back to bottle feeding.
So although im now really sad it's not doing well, I have hope.

...also it got fleas...

So, I just found this thread and didn't read it all (just the beginning/end), so I apologize if this has been said, but have you looked into supplemental mother's milk for kittens? Some stores sell it, it's designed for kittens who either get separated from their mothers or who have mothers that can't help them in some form.

I found an injured kitten near my house a while back, and she was very weak and timid for a while, but we bought that milk for her and she improved dramatically. She became a lot more energetic and playful within like a day of giving it to her.

Sorry again if that's been mentioned before, but it came to mind there a bit.
Yes, we have been feeding it formula for a couple weeks and its moved up to mush.

TC I know this is going to sound a little out there, but that kitten needs to sleep next to you. It needs warmth and needs to feel safe. It will greatly help with growth and eating habits.
Its a baby and babies need to feel safe and taken care of.

The kitten needs more direct contact with you.
Make it fall asleep on your chest. You have to become its mother to the best of your ability.
I get where you're coming from and its fallen asleep on my chest several times, a few while I fooled it to think I was sleeping.
But I cannot actually sleep with it. I will toss and turn and throw it off or crush it. I usually roll a bit or move.
Is good. The way it follows me, it knows.

Man that Pectalin knocks him out!
...got scared cause I may have given a little too much, but luckily that doesn't seem to be too dangerous. He will be fine.

Either way, turns out I was also given some ointment for the affected area, so mom put some on, and I'll probably do it in a bit since its been a while.

Weighed him, he lost an ounce. Worrying slightly, makes sense with the diarrhea.
He ate some mush, and attempted to drink water for the first time.

Alright we back.
Vet says the leg and tail thing was likely the sore butt (likely, it was using back legs fine when I got home)
Gave me probiotics to help with soreness and diarrhea. Every 8 hrs.

They couldn't get decent stool sample.
They also theorize that it's time to move it to kitten patte food.
They gave him some and he ate it up. I will change its box accordingly.

Dude did you check the area for any of the other kittens in the litter? At that young it didn't stray far from where the mom gave birth. The others could be trapped somewhere or prey for hawks or other predators.
I mean, it's been 2 weeks...and I know the mama has been around...
I saw one other with this one in a box the previous weekend to the time I got this one.
Saw the mom a couple days prior to that.
Some guy said he would take them. I'm figuring he left this one, who wandered away.

If there is more where i suspect, I can't reach them. It's on mama cat. This one was alone and cold, and I do/did worry about others.
But yeah, 2 weeks, I'm sure she's taken care of them. If they exist.

Generally, the practice is to keep the kitten warm and try to catch the mom and put it in a kennel (and take it to get spayed somewhere, which can be free for community cats, after raising the kittens). If you have the mom, you generally just need to keep it in an enclosed space and feed it/provide a litter box for the mom, and maybe change its bedding. The mom will do the rest, and you can let her go free when the kittens wean. Then, after the cat is spayed and its ear is clipped, you can let it go. Typically feral cats don't want to be adopted, and there are communities dedicated to capturing and neutering/spaying wild cats so they clip their ears so they know they don't need to fix them if they end up in a trap.

It's a lot easier than bottle feeding, but you might have to be careful depending on the behavior of the feral cat. Some can be pretty friendly with people, some can be very aggressive.
I see.

Well, as for recently.
Yesterday, I took my eyes off it for a second while it was wandering living room next to me, and it disappeared.
So of course I felt THE PANIC. That was fun. Found it, it was fine.
Likewise something similar happened this morning, though I barely looked up, but this time I knew precisely where he went.

Then he pooped in a hard to reach area on the floor...
Despite 2 hrs of play/feed/cuddle, he was still needy when I left. So I put on purring vids on YouTube!
Helped a little
