I can vouch for Smile and Star Twinkle being pretty good. Smile has a really fun cast and some of the best fights in the series, while Star Twinkle is basically Spaceballs with magical girls with its wacky comedy and sci-fi adventure theme.

I've heard some good things about Splash Star, mostly that it's a big improvement over Futari Wa before it. But I've also heard some not so good things, mostly about shaky animation quality and it being too similar to Futari Wa to the point of feeling like a cheap knock-off.

The main characters are basically just copy pastes. Cure Bright is the same tomboy type as Cure Black that constantly lusts after an older guy Cure Windy knows (her brother). Cure Windy is the same intellectual type as Cure White with family member her partner lusts after.
The villians are better from what I remember and the final episodes weren't nearly as dark and helpless.

Ah, I see. I started with the franchise by randomly watching Heartcatch, then I started following it as it aired with Hugtto three years ago. In total I've finished 8 different Precure series so far (Futari Wa, Heartcatch, Suite, Smile, Go Princess, Hugtto, Star Twinkle, and Healin' Good) plus I recently started Happiness Charge as well as watching Tropical-Rouge as it airs. So all in all, I've watched about half of the entire franchise so far.

Once I finish Happiness Charge, I think my next one will be Max Heart since I've been putting it off for so long after watching the original series. That or Yes 5, the other Precure series that got a direct sequel season.

Pretty much the same, someone posted the final battle in Heartcatch on the Pokemon B/W boards because Dune looked suspiciously similar to N. Since I'm a purest I decided to watch up to Heartcatch but alas not all of the seasons were translated so I just skipped to Heartcatch right after finishing Splash Star.
I'd recommend watching Splash Star, the final battle is basically the five minutes till Namek blows up.

Finally, after almost 11 years I have finished the second season of Strike Witches. Predictable ending, but more satisfying than say the entire fleet being shotdown last minute only for Miyafuji to have a near-death revilation while sinking into the ocean and emerge with some never before seen power of hers.

The new third season, the movie that takes place between the second and third seasons, and the Take Off comedy spin-off series are all great. There was also the Brave Witches spin-off focused on a different Witch unit, which wasn't quite as good but was still solid in its own right.

Plus, this isn't even the end. They've clearly left the door open for more content in the future. Another spin-off series called Luminous Witches is already in the works, plus there's the possibility for more seasons of both Strike Witches and Brave Witches, and even more characters and units that so far have only shown up in the franchise's side material (or the gacha game) that could possibly get their own series later on.

Oh hell, I thought the main series stopped at the film. I didn't realize they made a third season all these years later.
