College students are willing to pay a lot of money to get their hands on vaccination cards. The cards, of course, are free as proof that a person has had the COVID-19 vaccine. But students are using the fakes to provide that proof and circumvent campus requirements that they either get the shot or submit to regular testing. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, students must provide a copy of the card before their return to campus or be tested every week. Duke University requires students to present proof of vaccination with no testing alternative. Less than a week after students were notified of the new rules, a UNC professor sounded the alarm on Twitter about students who knew how to buy a fake COVID-19 vaccine cards and knew of others who submitted one to the university. It is really disturbing the lengths that some students are willing to go to subvert the university requirements and really subvert their duty to their fellow students to keep everyone safe, said Simon Palmore. Palmore is a junior at UNC. He said he has heard of many of his fellow classmates deciding to buy vaccine cards to send to the university. Theres a reason that the university is requiring all unvaccinated students to undergo regular testing, and these students are going to be able to do subvert the regular testing while also not being protected from the virus and prevent the spread from others, said Palmore.

To me, the type of people who would fake a vaccine card are the type of people who might go to parties and get COVID, and thats the group I think should be tested weekly, said J.D. Boyd, a dental student at UNC. Students describe it as easy as getting a fake ID. Online vendors have made blank cards more accessible to anyone. Im in the health care world," Boyd said, "Thats just absolutely horrible. Were on an educated college campus in one of the most educated places in the world and how can you be faking a vaccine card when you have people to care about?" WRAL News took the issue to officials at the Orange County Health Department who call the fakes and the fakers extremely dangerous. If anybody is out there trying to get around the testing requirements, thats really something that should be dealt with severely by any university we believe, said Todd McGee with the Orange County Health Department.

I don't know. Why would students avoid getting jabbed with a completely experimental vaccine to which the government has granted full immunity from civilsuits. Seems like something everyone should be on board with, especially after Johnson and Johnson just lost two billion dollars for knowingly selling baby powder that causes cancer for decades.

Can't imagine why college students would be skeptical of it.

@Dat_Cracka_Jax Clearly you know nothing about these vaccines, not only are they in fact not FDA approved, instead they were granted an emergency authorization. If they were as safe as the government presents them they wouldn't have to grant immunity to civilsuits, and people with no prior heart issues wouldn't be found dead with enlarged hearts after being jabbed.

You do realize it's going to be granted full FDA clearance next month, right? So when that happens, it becomes okay and everyone should go out and get it, because it's no longer just emergency clearance. That's the gist of it?

Even if it does get approved, what's your excuse for it being pushed without approval in the first place?

Or better yet, what's the excuse for stripping citizens of the ability to seek damages. Why do you choose to be willfully ignorant to the complete lack of accountability when it comes to companies with a long history of causing willful harm to their consumers. You have to be completely out of it to find that an acceptable term for something the government wants to be mandatory.

So far every single one of you has chosen to dodge that issue of accountability, as if big pharma isn't notorious for such loving things as asbestos in baby powder.

They knew the issue with the baby powder decades but never cared to investigate and fix it. With that in mind , is it really that mind-blowing that some college students don't trust them when there is zero accountability? Especially when it became a race to release a vaccine with zero risk.

Besides, why do you care if people want to get jabbed or not anyways. Being vaccinated yourselves should prevent you from getting covid, and if people who aren't get covid they'll have anti-bodies afterwards. Sounds like y'all are control freaks.

This isn't the first coronavirus to be studied, so it's not as if they started from square one when developing this vaccine. You seem to think emergency use means they can push it out the door without testing.

In order to get an EUA you need to be in the middle of or near the end of the phase 3 trials (the final phase). Then you have to write a report showing your getting positive results and you expect the incoming results to be positive as well (the EUA report criteria is 21 pages long). Phase 1, 2, and the current phase 3 data is used to determine if they get EUA. If the FDA finds their tests are good, they will allow EUA and have the right to revoke it the second anything bad comes up.

Usually the final stages of approval involve lots of paperwork and just waiting for the last group of people to show any possible side effects, so EUA is used as a way to rollout the medicine while waiting for the final test subjects to get their results. So basically testing is around 75% completed (random number I pulled out of my ass) before you can even ask for EUA.

Because the more and more people who get COVID and have it continuously reproduce, the more likely it is for another mutation to pop up which vaccines don't work against, and then my family and I are at risk again.
