I like how Act II ramps up the difficulty a little. I also think traversing through and clearing the second area is going to much be shorter than the first. I can see myself having nearly half of Toyotama finished within several hours.

Yeah, same. I'm still not done with Act I. I finished uncovering the map and doing all the side quests in the southern island and I think the only story mission I have left ends act I.

I'm kind of hoping that the game opens up some more levels of progression to existing systems as you advance the game. I've maxed out both my bows, all the ammo capacity, only got a level or two left on the katana and only one level left on two of the armour sets

Like, are all the wood products and predator hides worthless as anything other than supply trade ins for the rest of the game for me?

From what I hear, it sounds like Jin will acquire more dishonorable tools throughout his journey. I have heard of one in particular that sounds fairly interesting.

The game desperately needs the ability to make equipment sets that you can easily equip. I never fight in anything other than my traveller's clothes because most of my time is spent exploring and I can't just be bothered to sit down and change all my gear (and all my glam, cause the swordmaster's hat I use just doesn't go with the Tadeyori armour!) and then remember what charm setup I had before the fight so I can change back to it afterwards.

Exactly. That would be very nice. Ive gathered so many charms that its tedious having to constantly shift around. Load outs or customizable sets would be awesome.

Tagging this topic as Im considering a buy

Is this more like ten zillion hours of content on a freakishly large map open world or closer to an Arkham game where its still fairly big but more focused?

Hm, I would say it's closer to that of an Arkham game. There are many side quests scattered throughout the map along with main story missions. The rate at which these side quests pop up feels natural as you have to engage with NPCs in town or save random peasants in the open world to activate more quests. Exploration is a big focus of the game as well. However, there are a lot of collectibles if you're into that and the map is incredibly large but I haven't felt overwhelmed so far. That may be due to other regions of the map being locked off until the story is progressed.

You could probably 100% the game in 50-60 hours or so.

Oh man. This has me excited and I am now debating just dropping the dough for it. Appreciate the response.

Oh--how is the atmosphere and music? Is it something I can catch a nice buzz and just get immersed in? Is there a lot side content?

Sorry for the 21 Questions!

The atmosphere is great. It really feels like the island of Tsushima has been invaded by Mongols. Sucker Punch nailed that aspect of the game. If you like old samurai films, Kurosawa Mode is a must try as it's in complete black and white and it adds a film grain effect. In a pure 1v1 situation, it shines the most.

Music is also superb and stands out. Every track fits perfectly for the scenario it plays in. I usually don't care for too many Western game soundtracks but this one is quite good. It'll definitely immerse you.

As for the side content, there is a lot to do in this game. I've been playing for around 13 hours and I haven't finished exploring even half of the first region of the map. There are three regions in total. There are so many side quests you can do. When reviewers said that this game would take over 50 hours to fully complete, I believe it. The side quests are fairly good especially the Mythic Tales. This open world game doesn't have the issue of boring fetch quests being 90& of the content.

Are there towns with merchants and a working economy? How about random encounters?

Yes, there are multiple towns in the game with working economies. You'll come across small camps where you can trade and buy goods as well. Random encounters are in the game. You could be riding around on horseback and see a group of enemies. It's beneficial to engage as they drop items and you could pick up side objectives from saving random peasants. You are also free to ignore random enemies if you choose. Most random encounters do not take very long especially as you unlock more combat options. A group of 6-8 enemies may take nearly two minutes in the beginning of the game but after some several hours on unlocking new abilities, you'll finish them within 30 seconds.

Ran into an annoying glitch: I died while fighting against a story mission that starts you out having a standoff, when I reload it forces you into the standoff but the enemy goes offscreen and never initiates the challenge. I basically had to hit triangle and start off the fight with no resolve and at 1% health. It took a couple tries but I was able to do beat the mission, but it could be very devastating to someone who is unable to avoid being hit

Hope it gets patched quickly.

Spent about 6-7 hours with the game so far. As for my first impressions, I'm enjoying the game more than I thought I would. The first aspect I would like to highlight is the graphics. This game looks very good. The lighting is great. The scenery and visuals are gorgeous. It's a very pretty game. Not perfect in the visual department as the rain, for instance, could have been far better. However, that's a minor complaint. Photo mode is also very good if the player is into that. I've been switching Kurosawa mode on and off every few hours or so just to appreciate the visual color of the game.

As for the main story, I'm not too intrigued yet. For now, I'd rather explore the world and do the much more entertaining sidequests. It's still Act 1 so the main story could take a turn and have me invested. For now, it's whatever. I like the villain but I have to see a lot more of him first. Jin, the main character, is a little uninteresting so far. He does not show much emotion and his face is a stone wall. His character feels boring compared to say Kurosawa's Yojimbo. Unless his character arc picks up dramatically, I don't think he'll leave too much of an impression on me. The side characters are well written. These characters have some depth to them. They are complicated and extremely flawed just like real people.

Now, for the meat of the game, the gameplay itself. I had a lot of worries especially after the State of Play as I thought this would be Batman Arkham lite. Luckily, it reminds me more of Sekiro but far easier. You dodge and parry attacks. The parry window is fairly large even on my Hard mode playthrough. As you progress through the game, you gain access to more combat options such as different stances for different enemies and more weapons such as kunai, bows, explosives, etc. All of these are upgradable as well providing secondary abilities such as being able to parry then insta kill or explosives having a knockback. That's good because I can see the core combat system becoming stale by the halfway mark. Hard mode is definitely the way to go. It's challenging but fair. Enemies do not take turns attacking the player. You find yourself dealing with attack after attack while dodging projectiles. It requires the player to pay close attention to everything during combat.

Stealth is a disappointment so far. I'm past the tutorial but my stealth options are still rudimentary. It basically boils down to sneak behind enemy then press X to assassinate. As far as I'm aware, enemy bodies cannot be hidden so if there's a patrol, you're screwed not that it matters much as the A.I. seems incompetent. I've barely had any stealth opportunities though so we'll see as the game continues. Some of the mission structure reminds me of Red Dead Redemption where you follow a companion for X amount of time while making conversation then kill X amount of enemies. I'm still in the early game, however. For all I know, the missions could include more variety so I'll have to wait and see on this one before any further comments.

Voice acting in both Japan and English seem pretty good. I'm playing in Japanese with English subtitles. The lip syncing for the Japanese voice option is very disappointing. I honestly do not think the developers even tried here.

Im hoping everything goes well for him. I suppose the odds are stacked against him, however. Hes 22 and has never had a job before. His family isnt wealthy, either. He loves Pokemon Go, Star Wars, Marvel, Sports, and Smash Bros. In fact, thats all he really talks about. He has a Liberal Arts degree. No car and we dont live in a city, either.

Hes very awkward around girls. In all my years of knowing him, Ive only seen him converse with a girl one time. It was hard to watch. The rest of our group gets on him for being so nervous whenever a girl is around constantly. Even people who dont know him well pick up on it fast.

Hes fairly tall and muscular, however. Nice guy, too. The date was supposed to be today but she cancelled and rescheduled for Tuesday. This date was set up by a mutual friend. He doesnt have any way to contact her. Theyve never even met before.

He totally has this, right CE? Ive been shown a photo of her and shes cute. Ive known him for a very long time so itd be nice if he got a girlfriend. Nearly everyone in our group aside from me mocks him for being inexperienced with girls.

It seems like there is enough interest on CE for a topic like this where we post our impressions, talk about the story and sidequests using appropriate spoiler tags, and describe our experiences since this is an open world game. The actual game board is going to be a dumpster fire on release as always.

Less than 48 hours until many of us will be trying out the game. I'm looking forward to the game myself. I expect a very solid PS4 title. Nothing that will blow me away but it'll be fun. Going to watch a Kurosawa film tonight and tomorrow in preparation.

All I can do is hope she realizes she has a problem and seeks help. That possibility diminishes with each passing day, though.

Alright, so I've talked about this a little on here but for those unaware, I'll bring you up to speed. My friend I've known for 17 years has not been well these past few months. She made a now deleted video on Youtube where she spoke about her various experiences that shaped her into the woman she is today. These experiences include talking to the Devil, being groomed by the leader of a Satanic cult, practicing black magic, shapeshifting into different creatures, and drug abuse. She claimed to have been reborn as a child of God and warned everyone that Judgment Day was rapidly approaching. Many of us would die and very few, including her, would be allowed into Heaven. Over the next several days, she talked about red skies at night and mysterious howling that signaled the end days. She also claims people were coming to kill her for speaking the truth and they already broke into her house.

This was back in May. I made two topics and got some advice. I contacted her and did my best to talk to her since we go way back. There wasn't much I could say as everyone else tried talking to her Grandma whom she lives and and getting a wellness check on her. None of it worked so people started to leave her be. I was unsure how to approach so I remained friendly and kept the conversation lighthearted and in good spirit.

Fast forward to now, I'm seeing a bunch of posts over my social media feed on people coming clean about their experiences with her. Turns out she made a very long post accusing a lot of people of either raping, sexually assaulting, or abusing her. She claimed they had child pornagraphy of her. She claims to have been blackmailed. She claims a lot with no evidence. Over 25 people were named by her and she said there were still many more she left out. I personally know some of these people.

It's a gargantuan stretch for her to say this many people made her a victim. She's only 21. Supposedly, this all started when she was 3. I'm all for listening to victims but this is unbelievable. Given her mental issues, I don't think much of this is true at all. I'm sure some of these stories did happen but all of them? No. As of right now, everyone has turned on her and she's went completely dark. I can't reach out even if I wanted to. It would be pointless as she's blocking everyone who asks her if she's okay and needs help.

I don't know how to proceed. She refuses to seek help and continues to torpedo her life. Back when I knew her, she was incredibly smart, thoughtful, and very nice. She would see me in public and run to me with a huge smile on her face while giving me the biggest of hugs. I don't know if it was the drugs or if she developed mental issues somewhere along the way that made her into the person she is today. The events that have transpired and all of her actions just leave me feeling depressed. My childhood friend is in dire need of serious help and I can do nothing but watch as she loses herself. People have tried everything possible to help her but she doesn't want help. She thinks her "time" is coming up soon anyways.

I saw a recent picture of her before she nuked her social media. She went completely bald and doesn't look like she's all there anymore mentally. This blows.

That's my rant.

This is truly embarrassing.

NES through Gamecube, Nintendo was unquestionably the best video game company and it wasn't even close. First party software had higher quality AND quantity compared to Wii, Wii U, and Switch.

Now look at them. They needed to outsource development of a tea party simulator with PS2 level graphics to Koei Tecmo, delayed Animal Crossing only for it to still release with less than half the content the 3DS game had, and let Game Freak flat out get away with removing over 60% of all pokmon just to charge us to get 200 of them back later on. All while our joycons experience drifting because they cheaped out on the joystick to pack them with gimmicks most of us will never use. (So how much did that Labo shit sell anyway?)

I bought it for Super Mario Odyssey. Super Mario Odyssey is a top 5 game.

.....How did everything else except Star Allies and Luigi's Mansion 3, which are good because HAL and Next Level Games are not Nintendo, go so horribly wrong?

Endgame, what about Smash Ultimate? That turned out reasonably well aside from the online issues and buffer system.

Source?

A guy who leaked the mini Direct back in March said it would be happening. Major outlets have been reporting on this as well. I believe GameStop accidentally leaked 4 SKUs for the Switch and the Smash site updated for another tag to be added after Min-Min.

We're supposed to get a direct next week thankfully. This image is missing Mystery Dungeon, too.

Joe didnt say anything offensive in his review. This is just ResetEra being ResetEra. SkillUp was banned for his review of the game as well. In fact, if you criticize the game in any way, youre either sexist, transphobic, or whatever label they deem suitable.

Many of the banned users have started migrating to a site called JoyFreak. ResetEras own user base has started to realize the true nature of the site. The sites days may be numbered especially if industry insiders migrate to other forums.

A bunch of people bought a Switch to play Animal Crossing. Almost every girl I know bought a Switch just to play Animal Crossing. Many of these girls used to mock people for playing video games, too. The hype was real.
