Seeing there were no awards today is a huge bummer. I'm stuck out of the house, and 3 hours of what I had hoped would be a fun distraction while sitting around today are gone.

My guess it they took the bad response to last year's podcasts the wrong way.

Oh ok from the beginning of the podcast, the idea is to give some more positive discussion to some of the games that ultimately are destined to be nothing more than "doesn't hang" in their category and I think that's cool

I don't care about discussing which games make the list to discuss later, doesn't matter what games they're talking about. They didn't have this part of the process podcasted before for a reason. Maybe this is for someone out there or an attempt to just be more open about the process, but personally I don't understand why they would bother doing this. If it's resulted in less categories as well...seems like an enormous mistake.

We'll see. As it stands I'm gonna skip out on today. Seems like all it serves is to pointlessly spoil how arguments are gonna go later on.

Like....I just don't understand at all. Maybe that's on me. This is the boring part you're not supposed to show. Or I'm misunderstanding what they're doing here.

straight away to me it seemed like condensing the "quick talk about each game and why it belongs in the category" all into the front instead of repeating a lot of the same stuff every podcast but who's to say if that's how it's actually gonna play out

Something I took away from Kurt Angles Hall of Fame speech was never be afraid to make a fool of yourself and dont take yourself too seriously. I really let that sink in and ran with it. In my career Ive had several different paths and character turns. I was a manager in NXT, then I was the last draft pick and then with James Ellsworth as a champion. I feel its important to show different sides of my character and I never take myself too seriously. Ill never be like oh thats too silly for me or Carmellas too cool for that. Any opportunity I get I want to make the most of it and Im not afraid to look like an idiot. Some people take themselves way too seriously, but its WWE the E stands for entertainment and thats what I want to bring to it. Anyone can go out and have a match but its a matter of connecting with the fans and making them react one way or another, whether its making them laugh, or get mad, or be happy. Youve got to make them feel some sort of way. Whatever it is I have to do to achieve that, I want to do the best I can.

Carmella seems like a super cool person.

how's this take: Angle's career is perceived a level lower than it had the potential to be because he allowed himself to be booked as a silly comedy guy when tough, no nonsense, business kurt angle could have been an all time top 10 act in the business

this AJ/Bryan match is a special case tbh where I can see plenty of people not rating it that highly. I came away from it thinking it was easily the WWE MotY but it was because it was such a different style. It's for sure a match that might not resonate as much with some people.

I actually don't care about star ratings and I tend to tune Dave out when he mentions them. I tend to think Dave has really good insight when he actually discusses why things do or don't work and I wish he'd stick to that more.

I love listening to Lance though. I actually prefer his show to most of the others now because he's really smart and is able to concisely explain why he feels a way, and I tend to agree with most everything he says.

i was defending ronda's mic work in here a few weeks ago and i'll still say i like her intensity but she just says the weirdest shit and is so unlikable

when wrestlers were good promos there were never 15 minute promos in the ring. you'd get 2 minutes backstage talking about an issue and then build the show around matches. the idea that nobody would know what to say for 15 minutes in a promo without scripting so we have to script everything to death still has me so mad.

What I was most bummed about was that Mike brought up that these writers will yell at fans for saying that they don't understand the stories when they say they suck and they ran out of time, and that Jimmy Jacobs attempted to defend it by making such a bizarre non-answer really quick before his plugs.
