mnk (1) - I really like the color scheme on this one. Just a really cool, kinda creepy, slithery octopus wrestler.
Bane_Of_Despair (6) - I still don't really get why this thing is pure Fighting as opposed to Fighting/Water, but it's still cool. An fighting octopus that has a natural mask on and comes out to land specifically to find people to fight and then fucks back off into the sea after is sick. I think this was the main Pokemon that wasn't in my main party on my playthrough but I wish it was.

andylt (11) - Yeah this thing looks like it'd fuck you up, exactly what a fighting octopus should look like. Could've been a dual type- water, dark, poison, but it's still cool.
PrinceOfKoopas (18) - Octolock is a cool move, but Grapploct's actual stats aren't designed for it.
DragonGargoyle (20) - Wrestler octopus is genius concept
hotdogturtle (23) - A victim of looking really cool but being functionally useless.
Inviso (44) - I like Fighting-types, but why did this need to be a pure Fighting-type? There are SO many mono-types this Gen that it irritates me.
Paratroopa1 (49) - I like his color scheme a lot
Luster Soldier (60) - Another one of those Pokemon whose typing doesnt fully reflect the design here. Fighting type is very apparent in the design, but this thing not having a secondary Water type is odd with the design based around an octopus. It even has access to plenty of Water type moves.

Bane_Of_Despair (14) - There's always gotta be the starter that's the most outwaedly chipper of the bunch, and yea makes sense to make a bunny starter the one! Can't really fuck this one up, it's a cute fire bunny that has a bandage on its nose. It just works!
NFUN (18) - It has charisma. Clean design of a happy bunny with a slightly cliched nose bandage that still fits with the overall look
Inviso (19) - It's never a good sign when I like the NFE more than the FE, but Scorbunny's just the cutest of the three starters.

Paratroopa1 (33) - the only pokemon that makes me feel existential sadness. yay!
andylt (41) - Great idea, OK execution.

andylt (4) - I like birds, OK? I prefer the blue and the friendly demeanour of this middle evo to Corviknight's edgy badass look.
Bane_Of_Despair (8) - As far as second stage evolutions go, this is a really good one. Corviknight wouldn't even have to exist and this one could be believed as the final in a two stage line. I really like the color scheme, and it was a great choice the way the darker feathers frame the eyes/head to looke like a knight's helmet.
Paratroopa1 (27) - why is it pure flying type
Inviso (32) - It's weird how many of the early-route birds have good middle evos, and Corvisquire is pretty solid.
mnk (34) - It's a cool design, but also it's one of the worst Pokemon names. Doesn't roll off the tongue at all. That has no bearing on the ranking, but it has to be said.
PrinceOfKoopas (41) - If I actually played Sword/Shield, I might've gotten similar affection for it that I do for Staravia. But I haven't, so..

Inviso (2) - Just a really solid starter design, especially for the historically lesser Grass-type.
XIII_Rocks (4) - This isn't a very good generation imo, but the three final starter evolutions are pretty good. Rillaboom is a rare grass-type starter win. It's only the second time out of nine generations that the grass type is the best, and to be honest, Sceptile only narrowly beats Swampert and Blaziken. The gigantamax is cool, the signature move is cool, and just how elaborate it is are all great.
PrinceOfKoopas (7) - Moss Donkey Kong from Super Smash Bros. 64! I wrote a whole KoopaTV article about Rillaboom's potential moveset which would just be what Donkey Kong's is in Smash Bross, but with Pokmon move names. I think it's funny.
DragonGargoyle (11) - Music monsters are peak
Luster Soldier (20) - Our first ever gorilla Pokemon. Surprised it took 8 generations for a Pokemon to be based off the gorilla.
mnk (22) - The best of the evolved Gen VIII starters, but that's not truly saying a lot. He did grow on me over my playthrough, though.
Bane_Of_Despair (41) - I actually warmed up to this one, when first revealed I was kinda meh on it. But now I like the theming of it and the way it has the leaves as hair and the single strand going over its face. A solid final grass evolution starter.
Ermine (70) - Yawn
Paratroopa1 (96) - usually starters are pretty bog-standard inoffensive but then they made this horrible ape with cheeto dust on his face and thats straight to the bottom with you bucko. Just awful to look at

Inviso (11) - It's a mount, and it's a cooler Water/Ghost than Jellicent, plus it's pretty tough in combat, so yay.
NFUN (13) - It takes the "wooden art" designs of a few Hisuian Pokemon and works it into an actual, like, flesh creature. It looks great, and the concept is great too

Bane_Of_Despair (1) - There are Pokemon that sometimes I feel like are designed just for me, and this is a great example. He's a total rocker, his color scheme is great, and he's a badger. The raccoon-dog -> badger timeline of Zigzagoon is fantastic as they're all great creatures to base a Pokemon on. The tongue out is A+ as well. And we don't talk about the 4x weakness to Fighting type. I hope he places high in this because he's super cool and great.
DragonGargoyle (8) - You can be friends with mean stinky monster
mnk (20) - I was so happy when the first Galarian form trailer was released, and then surprise, Linoone is evolving! It was so dumb they stopped doing cross-gen evolutions for a few generations, and I'm so glad they're fully embracing them again. That was a tangent, but this particular one is pretty good!
Luster Soldier (26) - Probably the most edgelord Pokemon to exist. The design kind of resembles a Gene Simmons cosplay, a member of the band KISS known for performing live with his face painted in black and white (the same colors in Obstagoon's design). PrinceOfKoopas (29) - I like its battle concept.

Luster Soldier (7) - This is such an adorable little sheep. It's also one of the few times where I consider the first stage to be vastly superior to its evolutions. I think this one should fare quite well in the overall rankings because it does "cute" in an acceptable way by being based on an animal and avoiding feminine vibes.

mnk (57) - It's a little too cute in the wrong kind of way for me.
andylt (66) - Never got the appeal of this thing. It's a round sheep. OK! I don't like when things seem designed solely to be cutesy/marketable rather than naturally reaching that state. We already have a superior sheep, and that one's electric!

XIII_Rocks (3) - Ursaluna was always going to be high, but a second playthrough of Arceus coupled with the reveal of its amazing Blood Moon form tipped it into the higher reaches. Great design, great power, interesting typing, and now an excellent alternate form.
hotdogturtle (5) - I didn't think that I'd like an Ursaring evolution if you told me beforehand, but man it turned into a beast of a Pokemon once it could be transferred into the main games.
DragonGargoyle (7) - Haven't played PLA, but design + lore + play as a poke
Inviso (7) - Absolute combat beast, managing to be both a beefy tank, while having the offensive stats to back it up.

PrinceOfKoopas (27) - Well, thanks to it, Ursaring can get Eviolite.
Bane_Of_Despair (30) - It's a bear. That's it, and that works! It's a good bear. I like that it's more like a typical bear to stand out from its previous form.
Luster Soldier (40) - A cross-generation evolution of Ursaring first introduced in Legends: Arceus. Although not relevant to this ranking project since were only doing Gen 8, Ursaluna has a new form in Gen 9 known as the Bloodmoon Form which is a bipedal design instead of the quadrupedal design of regular Ursaluna. Strangely enough, the Bloodmoon Form is a standalone form of Ursaluna that cant be obtained by simply evolving Ursaring (which evolves into the original Ursaluna).
Ermine (79) - Ursaring looks like a badass. This does not.
Paratroopa1 (81) - not great
andylt (82) - I hate its moon forehead and weird eyebrows, and the colouring is bad. Ursaring was a good choice to give an evo but this doesn't do it for me at all!

Ermine (5) - Sword Doggo is good.
Luster Soldier (5) - Very cool looking wolf legendary Pokemon. This thing having a Fairy type is unusual as the design is very atypical for a Fairy type (not the typical cute and/or feminine vibe usually seen in Fairy types). Base form is pure Fairy, but the Crowned Sword form has a secondary Steel type and is the true form of Zacian (and the one used in marketing the Sword/Shield games). This is also a insane powerhouse in the Sword/Shield Dynamax raids due to having a move that deals double damage to a Dynamaxed target. It even got a nerf in Gen 9 (along with Zamazenta) as it was a bit too overpowered.
PrinceKaro (10) - this rating based on armorless form, the dogs look stupid and overdesigned with their armor
Bane_Of_Despair (12) - Sword doggo! It's a little cheap to do, but throw a sword in a dog's mouth to use in battle and I'm sold. It being Fairy type is a pretty cute idea too what with it kind of going with the sword/shield legend theme a bit. Typing wise the Fairy/Steel is pretty cool too. I think GameFreak does a good job with the potential of a sword-in-mouth dog, like I'd take Repede and Sif over Zacian but Zacian still works.
Inviso (16) - Easily the better design of the legendary dogs, but I wish it was Fairy/Fighting instead of Fairy/Steel.
Raka_Putra (20) - Its name origins is so stupid
XIII_Rocks (38) - Would have been a lot higher, but got slightly ruined by Pokemon Go GBL.

andylt (75) - Too cutesy without actually being cute. I much prefer the evo.
hotdogturtle (89) - It has a non-battle-relevant ability that's actually good for utility. You can use it for capturing legendary Pokemon in rare balls that you only have 1 of.

Luster Soldier (39) - MASSIVE downgrade in design compared to Wooloo. The popularity of Wooloo was due to being a very cute sheep, and Dubwool is severely lacking in the cute department. Still a lot better than a good amount of Pokemon from this generation.
Inviso (41) - This is decently strong, but it's kinda basically, especially in a generation with another new mono-type Normal early route Pokemon.
Bane_Of_Despair (45) - Pretty much a perfect sheep Pokemon evolution! Nothing overly fancy, just a solid sheep evolution design.

PrinceKaro (1) - Now, this is how you make a humanoid pokemon. Still somewhat animalish so it doesnt feel weird to have it as a pet, and androgynous enough so it still seems right regardless of what gender you get. Simply superb.

XIII_Rocks (8) - Yeah I can't not like Cinderace. It's a terrific Pokemon and the football theme is executed so well.
Luster Soldier (9) - Fits the British inspired Galar region pretty well with the whole soccer (football) theme in its design, and its signature move Pyro Ball being an animation of Cinderace kicking a flaming ball at an opposing Pokemon. It also has a Gigantamax form where it's standing on top of a giant flaming ball.
Inviso (24) - Not even me being a furry could net Cinderace a higher placement. It's still fast, but I honestly hate the color scheme and design (and the mono-typing).
Paratroopa1 (30) - cute rabbit slightly offset by slightly weird astro boy vibes
DragonGargoyle (44) - I like it when monsters are sports/exercise-themed
Bane_Of_Despair (65) - It's a rabbit, it uses its feet, make it a soccer/football player inspired! That's fine, althought the design itself is not the best for me especially for a starter. The Gigantimax form is kind of funny though, it just standing on a giant orb of fire giving me Asuka "Pathetic" vibes.
Ermine (69) - Furries have at it.
mnk (83) - It's kinda weird how much I don't like this line's soccer player motif, when I don't really mind Passimian's football motif. I guess it's all in how much more humanoid Cinderace is, while Passimian still looks like an animal. Cinderace just looks like it belongs to a completely different franchise with its own Saturday morning cartoon.
PrinceOfKoopas (96) - One of the worst things brought to Pokmon, so of course it featured in the anime. Good thing it's not in Smash!

Luster Soldier (24) - A well-deserved evolution to Stantler, who was previously one of the most forgettable Gen 2 Pokemon. Much better design over Stantler as well.
andylt (27) - Hm, this wound up being my highest Arceus ranking. A solid improvement on a forgettable pokemon.
Inviso (27) - Just about all of the new Hisuian stuff is actually pretty good, and Wyrdeer's use as a mount and a new Normal/Psychic (which massively improves on Stantler) is not exception.

Bane_Of_Despair (73) - It's definitely an evolution to Stantler. I do think it's an improvement on Stantler at the very least from the coloring, but the design itself is sort of eh. Also a little weird they went with Psychic for this design, although I suppose that's better for it than going for the obvious Ice.

Inviso (14) - This is one of the few times when I'm cool with a mono-type, because solo-Steel is so rare. I just dock it points because Gen VIII is a very slow generation overall, and Copperajah contributes to that slow feeling.

hotdogturtle (44) - I bought Shield because at the time I liked Zamazenta better. Then Zacian turned out to be one of the best Pokemon in the game and also looks better than Zamazenta in both forms. Whoops.
Inviso (55) - This is a far worse design than Zacian, and I'm always going to be against tanks in comparison to pure attackers.
andylt (58) - Christ this thing looks bad without its shield. Still silly with it, and Zacian has a better colour pallette, but yeah. I dislike that they made the cover legendaries so similar.

Inviso (12) - Again, not a huge fan of legendaries, and if this were just single-strike, I wouldn't rank it this high. But giving us a new Water/Fighting-type after we only had KELDEO since Gen I was pretty neat.
Bane_Of_Despair (19) - I haven't actually played the DLC for Sword and Shield, but I do think Urshifu is pretty neat. I much prefer the Single Strike design over the Rapid Strike one, but overall a kung fu bear is cool to have. Just a solid bear to have.

Inviso (5) - Generally, I'm not a fan of legendaries over standard Pokemon, but Gen VIII is rough, and Spectrier's a cool horse design.
Luster Soldier (14) - Definitely a much better looking design over its counterpart Glastrier. Also, the weight difference on the 2 horses is extreme, with Glastrier having a stated weight of 1763.7 lbs and Spectrier at only 98.1 lbs.

It has 9 main color variations that each have a unique evolution requirement. Each of the color variations has 7 minor variations for the sweet item it is holding when it evolves. Alcremie has a Gigantamax form with an outrageous design - a giant tower cake with a stated height of 98'05". If by some chance you could eat the entire Gigantamax form cake, it would be instant diabetes for sure.

Bane_Of_Despair (23) - It's a bigger doggo! I like Boltund, I just wish the eyes were a bit different. It might be coloring, specifically the yellow framing the white outside the iris. Otherwise a solid dog design, he's definitely a good boi.

andylt (9) - Here's another neat one that I expect to be underrated. The gloves and mask are just natural enough so it doesn't look like it's wearing accessories. And come on, it's a sly fox! A perfect Poke-fit.
Bane_Of_Despair (16) - The most fox ass fox they could make, and such a dapper gent! If there's one thing I'd say I would alter a bit it would be the fur sticking off the sides of its face with the face mask but it doesn't ruin it by any means. The tail is also still a bit much but it's better than its prior stage. Still love the way the fur is to make it look like its wearing little boots.
PrinceOfKoopas (16) - Very slick and appealing design.
Inviso (26) - The stupid moustache kills this one for me, because otherwise I think this design could be really cute. It's still better than most of the generation though.
Paratroopa1 (67) - I SAID STOP GIVING THEM MUSTACHES! FUCK!
NFUN (69) - Almost great. They shit the bed with the particular design of the mask and the tail

Luster Soldier (22) - Another Ice type Pokemon with slow speed. Game Freak really seems to hate making fast Ice types.
Inviso (48) - Why does GameFreak keep making slow as fuck Ice-types? They're never going to tank (outside of the new snow rules in Gen IX). This is such a massive step-down compared to Spectrier.
