Oh, right. You don't need it. It just tries to trick you into thinking you do. It's literally impossible to get lost in Rock Tunnel because it's a straight line.

Are Seafoam Islands completely optional, or do you have to atleast go through part of it?

I like it better than some of the older ones, even if it's smaller. All the Kanto remakes made me realize how much I don't care for the Kanto map outside of nostalgia, though, with things like Rock Tunnel which is literally a straight line disguised as a dungeon to make you use an HM you'll never use again, and Seafoam Island which serves no purpose during the main game whatsoever other than to slow you down.

Nothing interesting happened at Kaepernick's fake workout either. Like, even if you believe his story is interesting in the general sense, little to nothing was accomplished that advanced it this weekend in any meaningful way.

In any case, you're wrong. The NFL was fairly boiler plate, but college football literally saw it's most well known and dynamic player suffer a probably career-ending (well, for college) injury that dramatically shifts the playoff landscape. Also one of the most glamorous programs literally came back from 20+ points down in the second half to save their own playoff hopes against an undefeated cinderella team. That's not interesting to you?

Plenty of interesting stuff happened in the NHL, but ESPN doesn't have the rights so they don't care. I don't follow the NBA so I can't comment on it, someone else can fill me in.

Also uh the top story for the past several hours has been about Tua Tagovailoa

Kaepernick has been the top NFL story. You know, in the NFL section.

Well, you can only future proof things so much. Even with future proofed models, there's a good bit more to it than just copy and pasting them in, especially when going to a new system that does things differently. I'd imagine the true reason is they just don't see cost effectiveness in doing that for over 1000 Pokemon and wanted to nip it now. It sucks, but they're a business just like anyone else.

To be fair, the translation of the interview that was first claimed to be where they said they redid all the models is now gone and only reported second hand, and a Google translation of the actual interview doesn't seem to have anywhere where it actually says that. Obviously Google translate isn't perfect by any means, but there's not even anywhere that seems like it's even kinda saying it.

So the "They said they had to redo the models" bit may have just been rumor.

There are pokemon that do absolutely nothing that another pokemon can't do better - everything should at least have a niche, even if they aren't all powerhouses. Even something like lumineon has a niche, a function only it can fulfill. Something like basculin doesn't.

Even if they don't succeed, at least they could try. The fact they didn't even give another round of stat boosts to help old Pokemon is really lame. Surely it couldn't take all that much time just to alter some numbers.

Probably, but they did seem to make efforts on other fronts, just not touching the Pokemon themselves.

Though how does it work if you transfer a Pokemon from a game pre-stat boost into a game where the stats have changed? I've never tried this.

Unless you're saying me arguing that trying to say "We'll probably never see stuff like Zubat ever again" is baseless is somehow gaslighting. I never said that actually happening wouldn't be a problem. I said there's literally nothing to base the thought that certain Pokemon are just gone forever on, because there isn't.

Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I could be sold on it being Goldeen. It's one of two "just a fish," but it doesn't have the joke factor or Gyarados to fall back on like Magikarp does, so when you think of fish, people are pretty much gonna be 99.9% likely to think of Magikarp.

Don't get me wrong, if the next game only replaces like 100 of the returning Pokemon then by all means now we've got something to work with as far as guessing trends and getting upset or not

But this is the first game with the cut and there's a very wide range of popular to unpopular Pokemon, so any "We may never see X again" is, again, baseless fear mongering.
