I'm actually glad they did, because now everyone going to hate it and meme it to death, which is good because even if it worked well I find the idea itself very problematic for consumer rights going forward.

By the very nature of the service it requires you are always online. There is no way to resell a game if Google doesn't want you to resell your game. If the service disappears, all of your games disappear as well. It doesn't help that Google is relatively well known for starting and killing a lot of projects. Stadia might not exist 5 years from now. If a game is exclusive to Stadia and Stadia disappears, the game is wiped from the world. While this is a problem today with MMO games, the problem would now extend to single player games as well.

Ah TRE beat me to it. Basically the idea of having to pay full price for games you can only stream is really nasty. You truly don't have ownership of anything, not even data that you can back-up, and are simply paying for the "privilege" of playing those games on their shoddy service that could very easily vanish and leave you with nothing.

It's funny how important timing is for services like this.

You want to launch before your competitors do, but if you launch too early it will run like garbage and you'll lose a ton of money.

If the steam gaming market becomes big enough it could lead to some amazing, otherwise impossible games.

Think of the jump from local-only or peer-to-peer to server-client based games. MMOs like the ones we have today could not exist without the server-client model

With a streaming only model, I guarantee some crazy stuff could be done

But that's not how stadia is being used. It's a bad product.

5G isn't magic. It doesn't increase the speed of light the guy's on ethernet which is pretty much the fastest connection you can expect

That technology is real; there are emulators able to do things like that now. Difference is those are 2D games with a pretty limited number of inputs, not modern stuff with analog movement and 16 possible button inputs

I think it's clear that google is not interested really in how much money it makes on the product but the information on your thought processes and decision making into your minds.

Just they released a garbage product to try and trick you into letting them mine the data.

One thing about Stadia's launch that always seemed strange to me is how the service only comes bundled with hardware and the no bundle version doesn't come out until 2020. One of Stadia's key selling points is how you don't need to buy extra hardware to use it and the forced bundling completely throws that out the window.

The truly incredible thing about this is that it flopped so bad that people are already forgetting about it. Just a few days and it's not even NEWS that it's doing bad now, we've moved on.

It is their fault. Where are the exclusives? Why buy it? To play Odyssey? Or RDR 2? I can play these on every other console you know.
