That seems excessive. I highly doubt Melania has any part in this, her role begins and ends with being a treasure wife. I know hot takes are tempting, but legal overreaches is part of Trump's playbook, why would you wanna act like he does?

It's called enabling, which she has done with plenty of defense of him.

Let's not defend Melania, here. She's proved numerous times she's also a shitty human being.

That's their evidence. One little girl said "fee-dom" therefore it's literally impossible for Harris to have said "fweedom" as a kid.

That said, while I said it's different, American Idol's format is actually probably pretty close to a game show, since you don't get any of the "reality" stuff in between. It's like if they took that karaoke game show but just made it much longer.

This definition includes Survivor and American Idol if you stretch it for the Apprentice. A reality show with a prize at the end (vs something like Housewives) is definitely distinct from what we'd consider to be a gameshow like Jeopardy

American Idol is slightly different, but Survivor and especially Apprentice have individual events with their own prizes all throughout that basically function like mini game show segments. Like, if you took Weakest Link and stretched it out over two weeks, only had one person eliminated at a time, and filmed the stuff in between, does it stop being a game show?

I wonder how business would have changed for these places if they switched to focus on renting video games instead of movies. If these places were 80% video games and 20% movies (instead of the opposite) maybe they would have had more success. I kinda miss being able to grab a game and beat it in a week/weekend. Now I have to spend $60 dollars on Miles Morales which I'm never going to play again after a few weeks.

Well, most rental places typically lost money on games, which lead to several of them setting longer minimum rental periods. Redbox stopped renting out games all together.

Actually, looking into it more, federal law is one party, which is what a federal case would fall under. A lawsuit in Georgia would also fall under one party. So, if Trump was in Florida, he'd have to bring the lawsuit in Florida.

One of the lawsuits is in Georgia, so that one's absolutely going to fail. The federal one will also fail if Trump was in DC. If he was in Florida, it gets dicey. Technically the Georgia law would weigh more than Florida law since the recording physically happened in Georgia, though it's not as clear cut.

EDIT: Precedent seems to suggest Georgia law may prevail since Georgia had the larger stake in the content and interest of the call. California had a case of a call between California and Georgia, and their Supreme Court ended up ruling in California law's favor since their interest would be more impaired than the other way around, based on the content.

Georgia republicans are supporting Trump in a lawsuit about recording that call.

Georgia law states only one party needs to be aware of a call being recorded, so it'll get dismissed. Furthermore, Trump tweeting about the call revoked any claims of confidentiality.

But it's getting sad how pathetic they are in what they'll do for this guy.

On the other hand, because this country is so fucked up, "The Dems hate our troops!" would have been worse optics than "We don't support $2000 payments," and McConnell knew it, so it feels like it was sadly a no win situation from the start.

The reason you think my approach is pessimistic is because you, yourself, keep moving your own goal posts as for what is "optimistic," while trying to convince yourself that what is optimistic is realistic at the same time, by your own admission. You keep sliding your own stance closer to the middle and misrepresenting my own. You don't even know what you are arguing anymore, and I'd say that's now why you've changed the argument to attacking my approach instead of being about the facts.

That's why the debate's over. It's not worth having anymore.

That said, don't argue you are being a realist when you aren't. I tend to be a realist on most things, I know when people are being a realist. You have not been that here, and that definitely irks me.

Following the current data is and always will be realistic. Assuming deviations from the data is not realistic. You're assuming deviations, I am not. The current data suggests we are well off pace, and there is currently nothing to suggest that is going to change because no changes in process have occurred. That's not saying it's IMPOSSIBLE to change that, that WOULD be pessimistic. But as of right now, there is zero reason to assume the pace will rebound back to the April timeline. Hell, a reason could come tomorrow, but at this very minute, there is none.

You just don't know what "realistic" means, apparently.

Realistic means not making assumptions and going purely by what we know right now. If you start making assumptions that aren't actually based in anything, you're not being realistic.

Optimistic is making positive assumptions.
Pessimistic is making negative assumptions.
Realistic is not making assumptions at all. Right now, we should have zero expectations, because right now we have nothing suggesting anything is changing right now. We can't just assume each state is going to come up with a plan on their own that will put us on pace because, right now, there's nothing to suggest that is happening. Right now, it's literally just a big clusterfuck that has been a failure thus far.

We get to watch fun things like Florida seniors lining up for a console launch.

It's not discounting that because that's, again, a hope and an assumption, which is optimistic, not realistic. The realistic view is we don't know if or when states will figure it out, and until there's a plan, there should be no expectation that they all just will in any quick amount of time.

No, the problem is it IS the realist POV because that's literally where we are right now. His April expectation, in his own words, is based on the optimistic view of "If we catch up." Pessimistic view would be to, say, think Trump purposely sabotages things further before he leaves office.

Right now, our pacing sucks. Right now, literally nothing is being done to fix it. Right now, there are no plans to fix it. We are hoping Biden fixes it quickly. We have nothing to tell us he can or will. Thus, the realistic POV right now is "This is fucked up and something needs to be done or else it won't get better." Denying things are fucked up right now helps nothing.

Okay so I just watched that portion of it, and right before your quote, he literally says "Let's assume, Governor, that we do catch up." Thus the April timeline he lays out is based on catching up, which is what I've been arguing. It's an assumption.

It's fine to be optimistic, but let's not try to refuse people that are being realistic in the process.
