I was generally referring to gaming but PC gaming in particular seems to be getting the brunt of it.

Personally, I don't have a lot of interest in Zelda despite the hype. I get that's it's new for a Zelda game, but I'm extremely tired of the open world collect twigs and make a satchel style of gameplay that's so prevalent now.

As for the others on your list, frankly Sonic has never done it for me. Maybe because I grew up as a Nintendo kid, I don't know. Nier looks okay, but the weeb stuff kinda creeps me out in general. I may pick it up someday if it comes out for the right price. Horizon - See my Zelda issues. Resident Evil I'll pick up in the near future. Prey just looked like another generic 'FEAR' style FPS.

Maybe I'm just too old now so they all tend to bleed together, but very few games these days get me hyped.

Worse still, it seems most multiplayer online games get dropped after a couple of months from release. Aside from the F2P trash, games like Battlefront or any iteration of Call of Duty seem to be forgotten in minutes. I can't think of a single game within the past probably year that I would pick up and play with my friends. Dark Souls 3 was probably the most recent one that I played.

This was your regular bureaucratic bullshit. Essentially, the company paid me a lot of money to "shut up and go away". Your regular "we're restructuring and removing your position" type of thing.

This was after devoting a year and a half of my life to a product that I actually cared about.

You know what the kicker was? There were no warnings. It just happened. At least in previous jobs I knew when my time there was running to an end.

I've already applied to 3 other places with a half dozen queued up (this is without asking people I know if they have any openings). This corporate bullshit is why none of us will ever be happy. I feel like my boss threw me under a bus because his department wasn't operating as expected, and because I was at the bottom of the totem pole.

How do I get people to like me without conforming to a society (filled with people who enjoy watching football, going to the gym and eating salad) that I don't want anything to do with?

I'm gonna let you in on a little trade secret. You weren't as good as you think you were. They didn't fire you because you didn't eat a salad. They fired you because you weren't that good. You were probably a pain in the ass on top of that.

Also, the reason they don't give you any warning is because they don't want you to sperg out and fuck something up. That's how you get logic bombs. It's pretty standard policy inside any organization to pull someone into your office and fire them while simultaneously locking out their access credentials.

It was falling apart. Like, literally. Half of the machines were on the fritz and I had no fucking clue how to fix them. I'm not a big fan of it, but given I live in the US it's not much of an issue for me. At least, not with the content I watch. I suspect it can be bypassed through a VPN however, which is completely legal. I can't say I completely disagree with the practice of torrenting in extreme cases, however calling it anything but selfishness is just wrong.

You can laugh, but at the end of the day this comes down to a business transaction between media creators and pirates. If the media creators don't have an economic incentive to prevent something, then they're not going to bother doing it. Believe it or not, it does cost them money to implement all of the shit they do to try and stop it. However, they currently feel it's financially beneficial to do so.

If they didn't feel that way, they wouldn't do it. Much like how many big box stores explicitly advise their employees not to try and prevent blatant theft. The loss of revenue through theft is not worth the legal issues that arise from trying to prevent it.

I hitchhiked a few times on my way home from high school. I don't know why we did it or why people picked me and my buddy up. But we were both fairly large football players so I figured anyone trying to rape us would have a pretty hard (heh) time.

One time in middle school my same friend, his brother, and myself were walking to school in a blizzard. We had missed the bus so we had to trudge through the weather to get there. As we were walking down the road, a woman pulled over and offered the three of us a ride to school. It probably wasn't smart, but we lived in a nice area and she seemed nice so we accepted.

She introduced herself as 'Gay'. Like, her name was Gay. This was not a good name for three 13/14ish year olds around the year 2000. The three of us were desperately trying to stop ourselves from laughing.

When she dropped us off we thanked her and ran into the school and literally dropped on the ground laughing. It was at that point where it's less that it's funny but more that you're trying to laugh and we couldn't take it. Obviously we were not mature.

I've picked up exactly one person myself fairly recently. The same friend from the above and I were out at my university playing pool or something. We had walked out when a woman approached us and asked for directions. She was new to the area and had gotten on the wrong bus apparently. She seemed pretty frantic/desperate in her being lost. She asked us where the nearest Chevron because she was staying near a Chevron. The only one I could think of was something like three or four miles away up a hill. So we pointed her in that direction and walked back to my car.

We saw her walking in the direction we had pointed her, but then it occurred to me there was a closer Chevron about a mile away in the opposite direction which seemed to match her the description of the area around her home. So I said, "We gotta pick this woman up dude, we can't just leave her going in the wrong direction."

I drive up, explain that there was another Chevron I hadn't thought of and offered to give her a ride to the one I was thinking of and that we would take her to the other one if we were wrong. Sure enough, we take her there and she was practically in tears thanking us for helping her get home.

Not quite the standard hitchhiker story I suppose.
