Top 10 right now

Your interest was piqued by 20% of the titles that are in the top 10 right now. That top 10 list changes pretty frequently; liking 20% of the games on it will add up to a pretty sizable library very quickly.

Edit: I listed those games because other people in this topic, such as Smarkil, seem to be referring to gaming in general instead of just PC gaming.

I was generally referring to gaming but PC gaming in particular seems to be getting the brunt of it.

Personally, I don't have a lot of interest in Zelda despite the hype. I get that's it's new for a Zelda game, but I'm extremely tired of the open world collect twigs and make a satchel style of gameplay that's so prevalent now.

As for the others on your list, frankly Sonic has never done it for me. Maybe because I grew up as a Nintendo kid, I don't know. Nier looks okay, but the weeb stuff kinda creeps me out in general. I may pick it up someday if it comes out for the right price. Horizon - See my Zelda issues. Resident Evil I'll pick up in the near future. Prey just looked like another generic 'FEAR' style FPS.

Maybe I'm just too old now so they all tend to bleed together, but very few games these days get me hyped.

Worse still, it seems most multiplayer online games get dropped after a couple of months from release. Aside from the F2P trash, games like Battlefront or any iteration of Call of Duty seem to be forgotten in minutes. I can't think of a single game within the past probably year that I would pick up and play with my friends. Dark Souls 3 was probably the most recent one that I played.

Same.

Single player games have been hurt the most in the modern era of gaming.

Im almost tempted to try Dark Souls despite my aversion to it just so I have something to do.

Arent you in your 20s?

Im surprised youve aged so much yet still believe being meaninglessly pedantic to "win" an argument with someone who doesnt even care to argue with is an effective or at all useful means of communicating online

i'll agree the multiplayer craze has hurt gaming to me. I mean they are even cramming multiplayer into Final fantasy 15, and its not one of the MMOs they've done.

Oh Im sorry

I didnt realize you were an ICOYAR and cant understand context and only take things literally.

If it makes you feel better, I could update my posts to include more of the typical spammed indie genres (tycoon arpg, jrpg, dating sim, metrovania, etc) but I actually dont care enough to do so because all the people with social skills understood my point and generally agree with me.

You want something more depressing than PC, try the mobile scene especially the Japanese mobile scene and even worse is that unlike the stuff on Steam you call garbage, these actually SELL and are responsible for the Eastern gaming industry being on life support and flat out ruining the 2014, 2016, and possibly this years TGS as well.

Calling it dead is dumb, but AAA gaming feels like its getting worse and worse, none of the big developers seem to take any real risk with their games(Although their can be exceptions) and it often leads to them feeling stale and rehashed very quickly. More and more I look to smaller dev studios making something that's interesting and unique.

I'm also getting sick of these Microtransactions/Season passes/loot boxes/Free to play or whatever the newest and most profitable craze is. I hooked my Original Wii up a couple weeks ago to play some GC games and the simplicity of it really gets to me, I put the game in, hit play and I'm in the game, no menu options for any of the above mention bullshit. Some might say because I have nostalgia goggles but I call bullshit on that.

I've started to re-play some of my older games as well.
I really miss games such as Halo 3. That game was legit as hell and the developers was extremely passionate about it.

I just wish games nowadays could, y'know, focus on fun gameplay instead of how much money they could squeeze out from the people who buy the game.

I think a bigger problem is a lot of companies are using their customers as free beta testers, looking at you in particular Bethesda. I can tolerate some bugs in my games, provided they're patched in a timely manner, but the level of buggyness in some of these games with the "we'll just patch it a month after release excuse" is just disgusting. The worst is when the game doesn't do very well so they just give up supporting it entirely and game breaking bugs in the game I fucking paid for are never fixed. SPEND MORE MONEY ON QA YOU ASSHOLES. I miss the days of offline gaming where games were difficult or impossible to patch and as a result they had to make damn sure their code was solid as fuck before shipping it.

While it is true that they have cut down on playtesting, we also had games with bad glitches back in the days.
Bethesda have always released glitchy games. You should be happy that they dont leave their modern games as messy as they did with Daggerfall.
Donkey Kong, Dig Dug, Pacman, big arcade titles that got a killscreen that makes it impossible to continue playing. Duckhunt on Nes got one as well, your targets leaves the screen before you even gotna chance of shooting them.
Jet Set Willy, you have probably never heard of it but it was a big title back then, had a memory leak so your health started to drain when you entered some specific rooms. The developer lied and said that it was poison gas before confessing a couple of years later.
Impossible Mission on Atari 7800 requires you to collect items to open doors. The last item required to open the last door in the last level is locked behind the last door.
Space Station Silicon Valley on N64 got a collecting item placed below the map, so you cant get 100% and play the bonus level.
Most Zeldas allows you to save in a location that makes it impossible to continue playing the game, or picking up too many items so you cant pick up one required to complete the game, or turn one of those required items to a bottle.
Ducktales on Nes... I managed to make the game load the wrong map data which made the game impossible to continue.
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine on N64 is famous for its Audio IRQ game crashes.
One Robocop game, could be the Amiga version?, had a glitch that made the fourth level a scrambled graphical mess. It is possible to complete if you jump around and try some trial and error... if you get that far... the developers decided to make it impossible to get that far by putting an almost impossible timelimit on the level before instead of fixing the glitch.
Super Mario Bros allows you to easily get a negative ammount of lifes. And they discovered some new glitch a couple of years ago.
Rocky on PS2... what a mess.
Pokemon got the missingno which might mess up your savefile.
The PS1 had a demo disc with a... I think it was a Spyro demo that erased your memory card. The Gamecube True Crime games could brick your memory card. One of the Soul Calibur games could mess up savefiles from other games.
Final Fantasy VI had the Relm sketch glitch. By sorting the items in a specific way and using Relms normal attack, you could mess up your whole savefile, even deleting it.
Playing two players in Battletoads on NTSC Nes glitches one of the levels so you cant complete it.
There are many more examples.
Yes, the ammount of glitches now are worse, but we cant ignore that we always have had them.
