That's how it normally goes. Anybody violating a gag order the first few times or so is usually just a fine, they don't get imprisoned right off the bat.

I was super disappointed that Chutkan pulled her own limited order after explicitly stating that were Trump anybody else he'd already be held in custody for the things he's said and done in regards to his case...and then still gave him preferential treatment.

It's because they are going out of their way to make it "not political". Which is a waste of time because anything short of letting him get away with everything is political to his followers. Suppose you are a Palestinian and your house has been destroyed, members of your family killed, you have no food, no water, no electricity, and no access to medical care. When the IDF begins it's ground assault, if you have access to weapon you are probably going to shoot at them. Because you have nothing to lose at that point.

It's a calculus the Israeli government has made over and over again in the last 50 or so years. If you make a group of people's material conditions so fucking awful that they eventually will lash out you can then justify any amount of violence against them to "defend yourself".

The US did it to tribe after tribe of Native Americans. We would sign a treaty giving them exclusive access to a chunk of the land. Then settlers would encroach, with the tacit approval of the local government, and when the natives would respond to this in a violent manner the troops would be sent in to crush them. They would then be put on a reservation and told they couldn't have weapons to hunt with, but they would be supplied with food. Then food supplies would be withheld, or arrive spoiled, and the Natives would lash out, and the Government would again crush them. Repead ad nauseum and you've managed to commit to commit a genocide all under the guise of "defending youself".

In what appears to be a significant attempt to prepare public opinion ahead of a major ground offensive inside Gaza, the Israeli army has accused the Strips largest hospital, Al Shifa, of being the site of a major Hamas command and control center.
Army spokesperson Daniel Hagari accused Hamas of directing rocket attacks and commanding Hamas operations from bunkers underneath the hospital building, which he said was linked to the network of tunnels that Hamas has dug underneath Gaza City.
He claimed other hospitals inside Gaza were also being used by Hamas in similar ways during a media presentation that included aerial photos, graphics and voice recordings,
The army would "continue making efforts to minimize harm to the civilian population," he added.
Hagari offered only one piece of evidence at the presentation: a phone call purporting to be between two Gazans discussing the presence of Hamas headquarters at the hospital.
He said Israel had more evidence that he could not yet make public, but which had been shared with what he called the intelligence community, which had accepted Israels allegations, he said.
Palestinians rejected the Israeli army claim.
The Director General of the Gaza Health Ministry, Dr. Medhat Abbas, told CNNs Eleni Giokos that Gazas hospitals, "are used to treat patients only" and are not being used "to hide anyone."
Hamas also rejected the claim, calling on the United Nations, Arab and Islamic countries to immediately intervene to stop the madness of bombing and destroying the medical system."
Mustafa Barghouti of the Palestine National Initiative based in Ramallah said Israel was lying.
And Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian physician who has worked at the hospital on several occasions, including during three periods of open hostilities between Hamas and Israel, called the allegations old.
Hagari, the Army spokesperson, also addressed the issue of fuel stocks, which Israel says Hamas continues to divert from civilian purposes towards powering its military campaign.
Hagari played a voice recording which he said was a conversation between an Israeli army officer and a "senior Gazan energy official" in which the purported energy official says that Hamas has "at least a million liters" of diesel, and that some its fuel is being used to provide ventilation and lighting in tunnels.
On Thursday, a World Health Organization spokesperson told CNN that more than one-third of hospitals in Gaza and nearly two-thirds of primary health care clinics have shut down due to damage from hostilities or lack of fuel.

Laying the groundwork to justify leveling hospitals. Meaning if Gaza still exists as an entity after this there will be no medical infrastructure for the Palestinians, which means even more deaths in the long run.

Except the new House starts its term before the Presidential election is certified. If the Democrats retake the House next November, Johnson and his fascist cronies won't be able to just hand Trump an illegitimate victory. To succeed in that scenario, Trump would have to stage another, more successful terrorist attack on the Capitol Building than the one he orchestrated on January 6th, 2021.

If he does they need to be put down with extreme prejudice.

Early on they were looking at Richard Jewell, who was a security guard. He was the one who identified the package and started evacuating people. Dude saved a ton of people's lives. The cops and the media (who he later sued) decided he was the bomber and pretty much ruined his life.

Rudolph was named chief suspect in 1998 and wasn't caught till 2003. He was also wanted for several other bombings, including a lesbian bar and an abortion clinic (where cop was killed). Dude had a good hideout because the cops searched the area for weeks where it turned out he had been hiding out the whole time.

Like this shooter, Rudolph was also a fucking chud of the highest degree. Involved in the Christian Identity movement, right wing militias, and all that shit.

If you are going to do a sports drink do Powerade Zero. 10 calories and pretty much no sugar. Where I work is not air conditioned and that's what I drink. Just make sure you drink water as well because if that becomes all you drink you will get kidney stones. Happened to my brother who was a college football player.

I posted in the tail end of the previous topic about Eric Rudolph (Atlanta Olympic bomber), while not a mass shooter, did manage to hide out in the woods for 5 years before being caught.

Eric Rudolph (Olympic Park Bomber) lived in the woods for the better part of 5 years before he got caught. He had 55 gallon drums buried that he would stash stuff in, plus there were locals in the nearby town who were sympathetic to him (his other bombing was a Lesbian bar) who would leave stuff on the dock of the local grocery store for him.

Your second paragraph contradicts your first, because gun owners will plug their ears and repeat the manta, "Shall not be infringed."

Your fourth paragraph contradicts your third. Red flag laws include petitioning a panel (sometimes of judges) of experts of you need to have your guns temporarily taken from you for red flag reasons.

I'm not saying your solutions are wrong, because I like restrictions and licensing and red flag laws. But you're not going to get those if you don't understand they're going to be a compromise of rights and privileges of gun owners.

I'm not opposed to restrictions but any time or fee based licensure that you place gun ownership behind will disproportionately and negatively affect poor and working class people, which happens to be the demographic who are most likely to need a firearm to use for self defense.

The same with red flag laws, these won't work the way you want them to. How many times do rich assholes get away with any number of crimes because they can afford to hire a high priced lawyer who can get them a sweet plea deal? Rich people who should lose their guns to red flag laws won't while the demographics most likely to need them will.

Another good example of this disarming a group more likely to be in need of a defensive firearm would be the Trans community. Whom a chunk of the population wants to commit violence against solely because they exist. Gender Dysphoria is still classified as a mental disorder and chuds will absolutely push for them to fall under red flag laws.

Like I said, I'm not opposed to gun ownership restrictions, but it's not simply a matter of picking a line and placing gun ownership behind it because of how deeply broken and unequal our society is as it relates to race, class, and other minorities.

Nature is much better at handling radioactive fallout than the ever increasing nonsense we put the plant through otherwise. See the Red Forest and how well nature does there, because the radiation is much less an issue than humans formerly being there before Chernobyl. Humans all leaving was far more beneficial than the radiation is harmful for wildlife. And this is a really BAD disaster we are talking about. Typical nukes leave less fallout than Chernobyl. Also reminder: Hiroshima and Nagasaki are already rebuilt and no longer having issues. Everyone is far more afraid of nuclear radiation than they should be when it comes to being scared of the future. The most scary thing about a nuclear explosion is if you are not close enough to die, but within the 10 or so mile (inner to outer band) ring outside that area where you would have wished you could die. So basically, in the suburbs of a major North American city.

Games like fallout are a HORRIBLE representation of a post-nuclear-war end of current civilization. Every Fallout game should be filled with greenery and random generalist species of various sizes everywhere when you come out of the vaults in most areas.

No because the difference between Chernobyl and a nuclear was is that the amounts of dirt and dust thrown into the atmosphere block out the light those plants need to grow.
