Indeed. Many things we call fruits, berries, nuts, etc. really aren't, biologically speaking.
Yeah, and there's a good reason for that botanically, and there's a good reason to call peanuts "nuts" in culinary terms. It takes very little brain power to figure out that both systems have different criteria they're concerned with--Botanists focus on how plants develop from a seed to a mature adult, how they affect the environments they're in, how they reproduce, how the evolved into their current state, ect. Chefs care about how something tastes, how it feels, how nutritious it is, how accessible it is economically, and how sustainable it is commercially. Why should they be concerned with either one's definitions? If they had to compromise you would end up with either entirely arbitrary definitions, or a unified definition that satisfied neither trade. The logical thing to do is just use which ever definition makes sense for the trade and environment you're in and not get butthurt like a manchild over words.

People often claim things that are entirely reasonable are stupid because those people are, in fact, the stupid ones. It's the basically just the Dunning-Kruger effect. Who do you think understands the impetus to categorize drupes, legumes, nuts, pods, gymnosperm/angiosperm seeds, carriers, pods, shells, ect., the Botanist with a PHD in Botany, or you, the idiot in this example?

You'll say to yourself, "I know better!" because you're an idiot, and because the Dunning-Krueger effect is strong in you. You think you're smart because you've made up your mind about the way things should be, rather than actually being curious about why things are the way they are. C'est la vie.

Do you know any religious people personally? And not like, is one a member of your family. I mean like, do you know a religious person you hang out with weekly/monthly one on one. Someone you really got to know? Cause I do, and believing in God definitely doesn't make his knowledge lacking anywhere else. Especially his medical field. I have a feeling you might be filling in a blank with "religious nut"

Holy moly you are inserting a lot of extra baggage into this. I'm not touching this one.

What's your knowledge past saying "there is no God"? Give me the extra insight you have on things that people who believe in God don't. Keep in mind that not believing in something and replacing it with nothing isn't extra knowledge.
I don't have any dog in the fight, but if you are going to argue that atheists shouldn't criticize other people because religion makes them happy, then I would just like to know if you think knowledge is less important than happiness. If you believe in something, is it more ethical to let someone live in blissful ignorance of your conclusions or make them readily aware of your conclusions, even if it makes them less happy?

Knowledge of abstract concepts is a type of knowledge. Would it be unethical to make someone aware of new abstract knowledge just because it would make them less happy?

The Prequels are just bad cinema. If you're fine with canned acting, ridiculous combat sequences, bad CGI, uninspired cinematography, and truly, truly abhorrent scripts, then go for the Prequels. I don't think the ST are a work of art, but Abrams and Rian at least still new how to direct a movie, angle shots, build tension, capture emotion, and actually use CGI.

Religion gives some people a content feeling of something bigger than them. Atheist seem depressed 85% of the time. But they're also the same people who probably think being depressed making you more intelligent than being ok.

Seriously, the second image is definite proof they're facing the camera. It's physically impossible for them to be behind the bar at that peak and not be facing the camera.

On the other peak they're eclipsing the light, so it obfuscates the swingers position in relation to the bar.

Also, the leg movement is irrelevant as both sides view the same peaks as the backswing and frontswing. If looking at the swing set from a birdseye view, the swing set would be the axis over which both perceived movements are mirrored.

I don't particularly care about most of the rankings, but if you don't have Episode 1 in last place then there is something legitimately wrong with you. That movie is offensively bad. The acting in that is worse than B-Movie bad. The cinematography and directing capture absolutely no emotion and tension. 95% of Jar Jar and Anakins speaking lines are actually cringe-inducing. The movie dedicated, likes, 16 scenes to the absolute worst "slap-stick comedy" imaginable. Every scene with CGI it was painfully obvious no one knew how to act around CGI components.

"Yeah, but that just goes to show how bad Episode 7/8/9 really is!"

No, you're a moron if you think that. Even if you don't like the new trilogy, they are vastly better produced, acted, and directed than that fetid still-born known as "Episode 1". Compared relatively to their hype and budget, Episode 1 is probably the worst movie of the last 30 years. People pan Water World as a huge flop, but that movie had twice the film-making finesse and acting of Episode 1. Episode 1 is like The Room, except it was made by an award-winning director with an absurd amount of funding and marketing.

Yippee!

Palpatine not only coming back via force magic (completely negating everything Luke and Anakin did in the original trilogy), but somehow amassing the largest fleet in history somehow in the middle of nowhere and no one noticed? I just don't buy it.

All it took to get Kylo back to the light side was just have Leia sacrifice herself?

The entire plot was just a series of mcguffins and fetch quests.

So Palps wanted Kylo to kill Rey, but then he actually wanted her to go to him alive so she could kill him and absorb his spirit? But then she does kill him (just by grabbing two lightsabers I guess?) and she doesn't absorb his spirit. Dafuq?

I can definitely believe the rumors now that there were multiple endings and this thing was just mashed together at the end to try and avoid fanboy rage
1. Palpatine is literally stuck on life support on a planet out on the outer rim because of what Anakin and Luke did. Beyond that, if anyone is going to preserve their spirit through force sorcery it's Palpatine, who's whole shtick for his 6 previous movies was becoming all powerful and living forever. And it doesn't "negate" what Luke and Anakin did--Their actions were integral to the culmination of Episode 9, they just weren't the ones to permanently kill Palpatine.

2. Kylo had been struggling with the Dark side the entire movie. It's why he never tried to kill Rey, it's why he was so distrustful of Palpatine, and why he basically neglected running his evil empire in favor of seeking out Rey--Kylo wanted to be saved. Before Leia even communicated with him he hesitated to strike down Rey, because killing her wasn't what he wanted.

3. Most Star Wars movies are just McGuffins and fetch quests? Contrivance is basically the entire conceit of the Force.

4. Palpatine has always had contigencies. He uses people. He had four apprentices who he told was his only student while also training someone else concurrently. Maul, Dooku, Grievous, Vader. Him telling Kylo one thing and anticipating him doing something else is kind of his shtick too. While Palp's didn't say it explicitly, we can infer that:

  1. He had children so that he could later use their vitality to restore himself in case of fatal injuries. This is why he tried to capture Rey when she was a child, so he could always have her on hand.
  2. If Rey died her spirit was probably going to be trapped by Palpatine.
  3. If Rey killed Palpatine, he probably had dark sorceries prepared to take over her body.
  4. This whole storyline was obviously inspired by the Star Wars Legends, where Palpatine basically does this same thing but with different steps, so it's not like it's something that's foreign to Star Wars fans.
Rey needed to be consumed by Hatred and the Dark Side in order for Palp's dark sorceries to work. It's a running theme with the Dark Side--You're only vulnerable to it if you let it inside you. Furthermore, Rey doesn't actual kill Palpatine, Palpatine kills himself with his own Force Lightning. She's become one with the force at this point, and the power of the True Force is empowering her, not the "two lightsabers". The sabers were just symbolic of the cumulative effort of the jedi throughout history coming together to stop the greatest evil in the galaxy.
