Yeah, unfortunately there are women out there like that. I had a woman do that to me when I was 20. Basically we went on dates, and she acted all interested. I even met her mom and her mom thought I'd make a good boyfriend for her... But she was stringing me along the whole time. Just a little more and she'd officially become my girlfriend. Just a little more to impress her... over and over. I genuinely believe she only kept me around because she liked the attention I gave her. Eventually I said screw this and moved on. Started talking to other women.

One day she called me while I was with my girlfriend at the time. I was like "I'm sorry, I can't talk right now, I'm hanging out with my girlfriend" and she never called me again after that lol.

But don't let that experience stop you from putting yourself out there again. There are great women out there.

Yeah, the difference is that you had options rather early in life. And assuming you were relatively successful since you found a gf right away after.

The one I mentioned has been the only person IRL to ever give me that kind of attention. First and last.

Ah, I didn't mention in the post, but I broke things off with her a long time ago. It's been like maybe 6-7 years since I've heard from her.

IDK what her deal was. I think she just wanted to have someone in her pocket. Someone she's not actually attached to, but could still be used to validate her or something.

It was so nice when she was acting interested. The dreams she told me about had my mind reeling. Then she'd kick me back to reality. I got tired of the emotional rollercoaster, and once she started dating someone I broke it off entirely.

I am, but I guess it just doesn't show in the surface how most people think it would. I've gotten comments about looking dead inside based on my eyes though. The window to the soul and all that.

I had actually mostly stopped caring about it, and accepted that I can't know what others think about me. This just stirred it all back up to see basically see a better version of myself. Made me feel really insecure again.

Maybe if I could actually grow good facial hair. It gets all wiry and scraggly, and doesn't fill in very well at all. Guess I could look into hairstyling at least.

Well, I've always been insecure about it. Just wasn't feeling it much today. I simply didn't expect it to give me an improved picture of myself in return. I thought it'd actually combine the two pictures.

You can be, if you apply a ton of cosmetics and get professionally photographed and photoshopped like the images it's using to morph you with.

This is just another reason why social media is awful. It's tricking you and so many others into thinking you look bad, but you don't.

I guess. I suppose I was more expecting a different result, one that looked like an entirely different person rather than just a better version of myself.

Hah, I've spent the last 18 or so hours in my bedroom in the dark. I'm surprised my hair was not more of a mess. Also, I don't really know how to style it. I do brush it better when I'm going to work and keep it out of my face, but it doesn't look like the other pic.

Might as well join in, took this one earlier today. Was happy with it at the time, not so much now.

I was feeling pretty ok today, so I took a selfie. I thought it turned out pretty good, and was considering posting it in the selfie topic here. But then I noticed that I still have FaceApp installed decided to see if there were any new features.

I saw face morph, and it suggested celebrities to morph with. So I chose Zayn Malik. I assumed it would look nothing like me, but it pretty much just gave a picture that was like "this is you if you were actually attractive." I'm so dumb to think I could use a celebrity picture and not end up envious of the result. I thought I had made progress with accepting myself, at least looks wise, but now I've been stressing and obsessing over this stupid picture. Ugh... Anyways, here are the pics...

Like, why can't I be that guy? It basically just sharpened some features and darkened things up a bit, and it's a million times better looking than me.

I was talking to a lady from okcupid once. We'd already agreed to just get to know each other as friends and see if anything develops.

One night we were texting, and she straight up asks if I've ever had sex. It caught me off guard, and I always try to be honest and upfront, so I told her the truth, that I hadn't.

She became rather mean about it afterward. From that point forward she kept taunting me, and making fun of it. Sometimes straight up insulting me. But then she'd gaslight me and pretend to be interested just to string me along, only to tell me about the other guys she was sleeping with. She'd come visit me at work, and tell me about dirty dreams she had about me and such, telling me she wants me to father a kid with her, and asking if I'd like to have sex... To then just tell me that she'd rather be with a real man who knows what he's doing, and showing me messages she got off of tinder of guys she either had slept with or was planning to.

That's already a sensitive subject for me, and for her to just use it against me like that hurt.

100% my dad. I have absolutely no doubt, and he has all the traits.

When his first wife separated from him, he took a baseball bat and tried breaking into her house. Smashed all her windows and such, and totally demolished her car with it. That's what pushed her to divorce him.

With mom, we lived on my grandparent's property. And he always threatened that if she left him that he'd kill her parents and hang himself in their balcony. He'd always beat me and mom too. Tried to murder us one night too.

When he was in his early 20's, before he married his first wife. He got mad at his brother and pulled a pistol on him. His brother ran and dad chased him down shooting at him. He ended up shooting him in the calf and if his other brothers hadn't reached him first probably would've killed him. They never reported it or anything.

Dad never cares about those around him unless he can use them to benefit himself. It's always been that no matter who you are, if you cross him, he will make you pay. And "crossing him" is something as pointless as disagreeing with him or not doing what he commands.

He can easily be friendly and kind to charm his friends, but it's all an act. He's a cruel, mean spirited, and hateful man. One of the most selfish people I've ever met.

There's one thing he did that's so vile that I won't ever give details about it.

Not really, no.

I have scoliosis which I feel may be causing some issues as I grow older. Also, I got a back injury and nerve damage in a car accident when I was 9. Required physical therapy and such.

So my back has always caused some issues. It has gotten worse as I get older and lazier. It's not quite to the point that I feel I need to seek treatment or anything. Just basically a mild ache most of the time, and some pain if do too much. Occasionally I'll get a catch in it that kind of puts me out of commission for a bit.

I don't think any of that is caused by my age(40), but it is making it easier to agitate existing issues.

True. I haven't even been able to get the simple and basic life I wanted.

Besides, I'm not looking for anything at work. I'm just trying to show that I don't think others can see how damaged I am as easily as you think. There's no real reason that I should be such a failure.

Here I am, genuinely caring about the people around me, and seeing that I just don't matter to anyone. Why should I put in even more effort just to be shunned still?

How can they if they never interact with me? Then when they do I'm friendly, helpful, and kind? Everyone I interact with regularly likes me(except dad, but that's a whole other thing).

I get told by guests at work that they enjoy talking with me, and that I'm very welcoming and approachable. All my coworkers like me, and I've been told by management several times that I'm the go to person they want to deal with people due to my friendliness. The thing is, despite all that none of them have ever taken the time to get to know me. When I try to talk, I get cut off and and interrupted. No one cares about me, or who I am. I'm just a tool to be used.

I really doubt that every person perception is so sharp that they can see through all of that directly to my internalized damage at a glance without ever interacting with me. I'm sure some probably are, bug I work with the public. I can see how unintuitive most people are.

I can see how they might figure it if they did try to get to know me, and how they might be put off by that, but they don't.

Yeah, constantly. I don't know if I've ever confidently thought someone liked me.
