The answer to that really, really depends on what it's for. Because you could use it for permanent autohits and that'd be just moronic. Or you could use it to apply Cold to your attacks and that'd be OK.

ChrisG and OMGitzAndre are probably the closest thing you got to dudes who aren't good people (well, besides Aris, but uhh we don't count Tekken guys). The former because he's a quitter, the latter because he's a pretty mean guy to the people he plays, while pretty much all other tournament players may get serious in the clutch but tend to constantly laugh and joke outside of matches.

Yeah but Andre is so easy to joke on that it doesn't matter how much of an ass he is.
"How many Andre's does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Infinite. They all drop it."

Chris I could see people not liking but it's not like he's actively trying to be a heel.

Yeah, I'm not saying he's a bad guy. Just that while you should respect his skills, he doesn't have the right attitude to go with them.

Combofiend and Justin are pretty much the two players anyone can cheer for. Both are nice guys, both are REALLY good at their games, and both have dat 3S pedigree.

It's harder to find fighting games that aren't fun to watch than the other way around. Virtua Fighter can be boring if you're not into fighters, but that's about it. I recommend watching whatever you want.

As for players, I can't think of many top players that aren't likable. Floe can be whiny, but I like him enough. Marn has at least been trying to clean up his act. And I like FChamp dammit!

The next step is space folding, probably. You're not going to see Gundams used like in the animes. They're likely to be siege machines.

I doubt it has some of the hall marks of a "real" gundam or mobile suit:
- Beam weaponry
- Compact Nuclear reactor

However, it is possible it has a form of funnels, which are remote controlled pieces that fly around seperate from the main suit and shoot.

You'd be wrong. Electrolasers have been in development since forever and we already have laser batteries operational. Cost is a different story, of course, which is why fusion is a major necessary to make true ultratech weaponry very feasible. But that's not very far away.

It would have almost been a good movie if they kept baccarat in. Almost. There's still the problem of that cowboy calling himself Bond.

In fairness Baccarat is basically completely luck.

This. It wasn't changed for mainstream reasons (check the Martini recipe online - it specifically is not done that way anymore but was kept because it was a very Bond thing). It was changed because Baccarat couldn't carry the dramatic tension of the scene in a movie.

See, it's easy to say you don't like a character, but it's basically wasted time. It's just a conversational dead-end. If you don't like her, say *why*. Makes for a much more interesting time spent discussing characters and their flaws.

The difference is that those people are wrong.

Squall isn't constantly telling people they're going to kiss the moons and getting himself into all kinds of trouble because he's stupid and doesn't know it's a bad idea to rush straight into danger.

So yeah, Rinoa would be a better comparison for Kid than Squall.

Of course, Rinoa also has a certain amount of charm and cuteness that makes her more bearable than Kid.

What kinds of trouble does Kid even get into? She pretty much spends all the time she's with you bailing you out, with the exception of the time she gets poisoned by Lynx.

Also, I will tolerate no Harle besmirching, top tier character right there.

Without a Firewind Blade, nor a Shard, nor anything else, I can only beef up your damage to 4+4+4+4+6+3+3 = 28 with most spells, but Elemental Bolt's extra damage is nowhere to be found. And that's for Elemental Bolt, in fact, so it's actually less for other spells.

It's not terrible since it's being used to stop botters buying more accounts when they get banned.

but then again they're banning botters because they don't want inflation to ruin their RMAH, so...

And yet the way botters sell gold is in general chat which the game now forces you into everytime you enter the game. Maybe there's no demand for it now that the RMAH is out (haven't played since) but that annoyed the piss out of me.

Outside of the issue that we fixed, digital purchases do require a review period before they kick over from Starter to Full editions. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it is a necessary step to combat fraud and other malicious activities that can weaken everyone's play experience.

The delay is no longer than three days, and is often much quicker than that. Hang tight. :)

For a loss, the reward is approximately: 16 IP + 1.405 per minute IP

From LoL wiki

Assuming a 25 minute surrender, it's 51IP. However, the average game length is about 35 minutes, so 65IP. Applying the same logic to wins, it'll be 97. But I don't know the distribution of game lengths. So my IP count was high by about 20IP, but in order for that to be canceled by win of the day, you'd say that you played 8 losing games before a streak of 8 winning games on the same day (so that 50/50 win ratio is preserved). Probably not a common occurrence.

Yeah, it's not a HUGE difference (probably pushing it to 90~ over the course of the day instead of 100~) but worth mentioning, that's all.

I'm not ignoring losses. Or rather, I'm ignoring both losses and wins of the day. On average losing nets you 70~IP and winning 110~, for a 90IP average on a 50/50 split. First win of the day gets you 150IP. So in order for you to lowball you have to claim that you have to lose frequently on solo days and win long streaks on the same, despite the matchmaking specifically adjusting against this. If we also assume that the player is good, they're going to have win ratios substantially tilted away from 50 toward high win rates, so I feel like I'm lowballing IP gains.

You sure about this? On average losses have netted me closer to 50 IP.

The iron man understands the killer's motives. This is an attempt to confuse us, the last act of a dead man walking. Do not fall for his tricks. We know that he took the lives of others, and he deserves no pity.

Still a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Takes place before MGS4? It's such a pointless scenario that it's not mentioned at all in MGS4 or we already know the outcome more or less. Takes place after? Gotta retcon or shove it in within a month after the end.

Personally I'd rather it just not have Solid Snake. Give me that idea about playing as the Cobras during WWII, or give me Liquid Snake during his time in the Middle East.

Alternative option: Snake is the protagonist. Ac!d Snake.

Well, I guess that's that.

The killer's gone now, and so is the mystery. But something persists, yet. Something persists...

3) My calculations are lowballing the cost or highballing the IP earnings.

Your points are pretty much entirely true Newbie, but you're lowballing the amount of games you have to play because you're not accounting for losses. Losses give you much less IP, from a third to half the usual amount. End result is, the numbers come out inflated if you assume it takes tons of games to develop into a really good player. Doesn't really change your points though, they're pretty much valid.

This is only true for bad F2P though. Also, saying 'I'd prefer to pay ten bucks once for a CCG' is...like, let's put it this way. You're aware that they're money pits. You're aware that they subsist based on making you buy packs. Why on earth would you even begin to consider a flat, buy-once-free-forever fee to be good enough to keep the company making the CCG in business? It'd be like putting a gun to your mouth and pulling the trigger.

Fantasy Flight Games came out with an LCG model that has been revamped over the past few years in which the gameplay is identical to that of a CCG, but the packs for each set all have identical cards so you don't have to waste so much money on it. It's not exactly the same as my idea since mine is even better for the consumer, but it makes sense because it is a Living Card Game. The game grows with time as new expansions are released.

Shadow Era could give you access to the first set for a flat rate and then you can purchase additional expansions as they're released for additional fees. This isn't a microtransaction. It's just an expansion, like DLC. It will still make them good money, just from more people, rather than them getting them a ton of money from the small percent they suckered into getting hooked on the game.

Besides, it's not really any different than buying any other game that you only buy once. The company still stays in business even though you only bought them game once. Well, who knows if Capcom would?

So you'd rather pay 15$ for a 50-card (or whatever, adjust the number based on deck size - this assumes a 40/50 card deck) expansion instead of 0.75$ for a randomized five-card booster which is part of a 150-card set.

I dunno, maybe I'm just crazy, but I'm not seeing how the former is better than the latter. At all. Before you cry about bias, remember - the company does stuff to get your money. They have no reason to offer you a 150-card set for the same price as a 50-card one if they can get away with it. So, why would they, barring major good PR to be gained from releasing the bigger set at once instead of piecemeal?

Games that let you directly buy power are bad, but when it just accelerates the ability to get something you could otherwise get with time playing? Or is purely cosmetic? People pay for that kind of stuff, and it is no surprise that companies are slowly realizing this and adapting their pricing.

Of course companies will capitalize on whomever will let them. That's how they work. No surprise there. It's unfortunate that people are allowing them to be preyed on like that.

I don't play any MMOs and most of the free-to-play games I can point to, or at least those games that make the largest use of microtransactions, are apps for phones or tablets. To me, the most user friendly free games are those not with microtransactions, but with ads. If I want to support the game and get rid of the ads, I can buy the game. To me, that works, but I cannot play games with microtransactions.

There's a CCG for android called Shadow Era that is free-to-play. You don't have to buy new packs, but it greatly accelerates your ability to earn new cards. The problem with it is that it takes so long to earn packs without buying them that it's not feasible. It feels like you're just playing a demo unless you spend real money. I understand it is a CCG and like all other CCGs, it's a money pit. But the only thing steering me to this CCG as opposed to another is that it's free. If I'm going to spend money on one, it's going to be a better one (though Shadow Era is actually pretty decent). I wouldn't mind paying a flat fee just to play it, though, even 10 bucks, which is a lot for an app, if you ask me.

I guess the whole point of this point is that the free-to-play model that allows you to get the full experience just at an extremely slower rate is still pretty bad to the point that it's more of a demo and not all that free-to-play anymore.

Yeah, no reason to wait anymore. Spiral is obviously guilty here. I think we've reconstructed the events of the crime pretty decently at this point.

PS: Incidentally, did the forums get a sleek new update or is it just me? The PMs section looks so much nicer now.
