yeah that pool was fixed. but i think now if they both end up qualifying out of winners, they play after. not sure if they fixed the other pools

btw, based on the past year, I think EVO has now become a bigger deal than E3 to any gamer with even a casual interest in fighting games.

I really doubt most of the top players will even go for it. A lot of their teams have TOD combos without risking a TAC break anyway and it gives your opponent a s***load of meter. Also not a lot of time for most of them to implement into their gameplan. I suspect that if they do happen, it'll be at lower levels of people who think infinite automatically means overpowered/broken.

Im missing something, but is every TAC infinite using Down/Blue?

I think the consensus is that down is the easiest but there are other directions (might be different for some characters)

Most of them. A few use up or side (the video I saw of Dorm's used side exchange, and the infinite Chun has had for a long time uses up exchange).

i don't think so. a lot of the side tournaments registration are on-site (except VF as far as I know) but you might want to double check that

You don't need to be registered ahead of time for side tournaments, no. Besides Virtua Fighter since that's being run by SEGA, and ST since that's invite-only (maybe there's a separate free one though)

If you don't have a spectator or competitor pass you can't be in the main ballroom on Sunday though, you have to go to a separate free room where they'll have the stream running

the tournament of legends is invite-only but there will be a separate ST tourney which is part of the TOL qualifier IIRC

it really depends on what you're interested in. if you're just starting out you might as well check out a bunch of them for a while based on what you think looks cool/other aesthetic reasons. competitive interest for me stemmed from casual interest so i was actually invested in some of the series/characters that made me want to go over into the competitive side

but yeah i don't know how experienced you actually are with fighters so maybe some other people might be able to help you out better here but check out the main games (Street Fighter, Marvel, KOF for 2D; Tekken, SoulCalibur, Virtua Fighter for 3D, etc.) lot of stuff out there

time to take tom under my wing and teach him about FIGHTAN GAEMS (but seriously if you want to beat anyone better than kleenex find a better teacher)

VF5 and Skullgirls are $15 each, digital, and new. Most of the big games are probably sub-$40 by now.

As for "classy" players to cheer for, believe in the Mike "Mike 'Mike Ross' Ross" Ross who believes in you. (there are more class acts in the FGC than not, really. you probably wouldn't like Marn, Filipino Champ, or ChrisG, though)
