It's one thing to want a new entry in a series that's been ignored for a decade, but are there any franchises you think would be better off left alone? I, for one, don't trust anyone still working at Square to make a new Chrono game.

I don't think there's anything notable that's been dead for 10 years and was terrible. Plenty of good series dead for that long, and plenty of bad series that aren't dead.

i'm assuming this doesn't include ports seeing how Chrono is mentioned. and... there aren't many i'd put in this level. CT and CC are very different games. Square doesn't have the cast it had and others would be better off making a spinoff instead, but if Square wanted to make another one i could see it happen, so long as they collaborate on it with others.

and Lufia 3 needs a remake. badly. GBC couldn't do what the devs wanted it to, similar to how ZOE: FoM had its problems in the GBA. if they got remade you would have a completely different game just based off of the hardware's capabilities to allow much, much more of the good ideas that they had, but couldn't execute well.

Rare would absolutely f***ing ruin it

I don't trust modern Square with Chrono, Mana or Xeno, so I'd rather they just stayed dead if someone better couldn't get their hands on them.

Er, well Xeno isn't dead, but I mean... uhh, a continuation of 'Gears. Which would never happen anyway, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

Also, the corpse of Ivalice has been brutalized enough, unless they got, like, Matsuno back to helm it.

In my case, I'd call it realism. It's not hard for me to arrive at a realistic conclusion like this when I know that all my experience with modern Square games (apart from a few ports...!) has been quite subpar! I, personally, would almost certainly enjoy those resurrections far, far less than their original incarnations, so...!

Well to each their own but I thought FFXIII-2 was pretty fantastic and quite liked around half of 13, which about what I can say for Chrono Cross.

That got Capcom'd when Dragon Quarter didnt sell. I doubt theyd revisit it without some pretty compelling evidence there was market anyway.

Yeah, it's already dead. I meant in the bizarre-as-hell unlikely scenario where they suddenly decided it'd sell again, which is all the more unlikely in 2012 than it ever was back in 2003 or whatever.

I'm gonna assume you mean you don't think a revival of Darkstalkers would be any good. And I agree; I was just about to say this. Really, any "defunct" Capcom franchise qualifies, I'd say.

And there's been two SaGa games since then (the most recent of which came out last year!), so the series isn't dead either.

Looking at the Saga series, the last one to even be remotely released was simply a Japan-only remake of Final Fantasy Legend III last year. But this all moot anyway because Emperor's SaGa is coming out this Summer, apparently.
