Me and my siblings used to play Roller Coaster Tycoon every day, every morning before school, after school, every time of day. We were completely addicted. This was circa 2000.

Then suddenly, it stopped working. It said it was a problem with DDraw.DLL or w/e, and it was the most devastating, heart breaking thing in the world at the time.

My dad tried to fix it eventually, but it said there was another DLL it didn't find, and my dad said, "There are probably 10,000 DLLs, it's no use". In retrospect, he could've reinstalled the game.

So it occured to me today, just now, after 20 years. My parents f***ed up the game on purpose because we were spending too much time playing it. Why else would my dad, a high level computer programmer, not be able to fix a simple computer game by just reinstalling it? And it would've been so simple to just delete a folder of DLLs to make it not work. And this was AFTER they complained we were addicted (which we were).

I didn't say it doesn't matter, just that the "sex is a rainbow and everyone is a different colour" style of argument that some people make is misleading as well.

Between internal and external genitalia, hormones, chromosomes, and secondary sex characteristics, everybody IS different and falls somewhere on the bimodal distribution. Whats misleading is to say there is a clear male and female box

Even if that's true; and I believe it might be, you gotta realize this Topic is made in bad faith so frequently it just comes off bad no matter your intentions. It's not a topic to discuss here unless you want to attract trolls.

I've never been one to shy away from topics that are important to discuss. If we don't discuss important things because we're afraid of trolls, then the trolls have already won.

People like myself had been screaming that Trump is a fascist who will refuse to give up power even before the 2016 election. Most other people just took longer because they're intentionally blind to the world.

So I'm notoriously bad at finishing projects that I start because I burn myself out or don't get motivated enough to finish.
With this project, I'm taking it slow because I want to finish and my motivation is that I want to expand the library of LGBT / transgender fiction.

I wrote a few sentences a couple days ago and posted it to reddit and they were like "omg this is so good I'm crying" and "when is this coming out? do you have a name yet?" which felt good to know they're responding to only a short paragraph. no, that is the reasonable thing to do assuming you warn him. dont just randomly not cook for him one day, that would be a dick move. but if you tell him in advance then its fair

How would you word it? I don't wanna sound mean, or like I'm forcing him to do something. But I also want him to take responsibility for the apartment we both lease together, and for cleaning when he said he would.

Backstory: I live with 2 brothers, both younger. We're all in our mid to late 20s, and I cook for everyone every day. One brother cleans up after the meal and the other goes to school so we don't really ask him to do anything.

I've been cleaning the whole apartment lately and asked my brother who isn't in school if he can help. He agreed. Then nothing. I keep cleaning the apartment, and asked him 2 more times. Still nothing. It's getting to the point where I feel used and taken advantage of, because he knows I'm going to keep cleaning anyway. We used to do this **** to our dad growing up, where we would do anything to get out of chores and basically just never do them even when he asked, and he's treating me the same way.

So if I cook for my brother who goes to school, but don't cook for that brother, because he didn't do what he said he would, would that make me an a******? Is there a better way of handling it?

It's a lose lose for me because either I make peace with the fact that I'm going to be the only one cleaning and then I have to do it all myself, or I ask my brother to help and now it's a big argument/hassle to get him to help anyway, and now I look like an a****** when I get mad at him for not helping.

What's your novel about?

It's about the exploratory journey of a young lgbt individual who, as they discover their identity in the world, they lose the people who are closest to them. Along the way, they learn that it's only their own self acceptance that matters.

wonderful. will definitely tag you. im glad they/them makes you happy! my partner recently came out as non binary and they were insanely happy using a different name and they/them pronouns, so seeing someone else just as excited about it makes me really happy.
also i use she/they pronouns. getting some cool earrings that say she/they on monday :)
and to everyone who thinks that they/them is not cool- singular they has been around longer than anyone on this site has been around. and if you think singular they is stupid, then just look at singular you....
language evolves. it changes to go with the times. dont be rude and just respect peoples pronouns. its not going to affect you, so why care?

You came into a topic where someone says they want to use they/them pronouns to share your contribution that you think they/them pronouns are weird. Then when people got annoyed with you, you made it seem like its not a big deal and only your opinion, and that rather than have any social wherewithal not to make dumb comments such as I think your pronouns are weird, you tell the other people that they need to relax. To me, it seems like you are either subconsciously or consciously trying to get a rise out of people because you knew on some level that sharing your opinion would make people annoyed, and that would give you an opportunity to tell them to relax.

I'm not trying to be combative...I think the word pancreas sounds weird too, is holding that opinion also now suddenly forbidden? I don't care if people say nothing but pancreas around me for weeks, I just absolutely harmlessly think it doesn't flow as elegantly as other words (possibly even brand new words or revived archaic words) potentially could, I'm just finding it really weird that such a harmless opinion is being perceived as some kinda attack is all...is it somehow offensive to tell you folks to lighten up and enjoy life a little? Being upset all the time must be exhausting af :(
