If you want to play electric I would personally recommend a used Squire Classic Vibe Telecaster or a used PRS SE (Made in Korea). Either can be bought for ~$300 and both are quality instruments which I play about as much as my USA Gibsons. As far as an amp goes I would recommend a used Blackstar HT1 tube combo. The amp is going to affect your tone more than the guitar so it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a decent tube amp like a Vox AC4. I'm arguing that the amount that workers are paid in the USA is too low and that this affects the vast majority of service workers and other "unskilled" labor.
