I do like a cappuccino in the afternoon, other than that I agree with the list.

Seems like a problem to on one hand believe that people have the right to own a gun to defend their homes, and at the same time think that someone reaching for a gun when he's woken up by strangers storming into his house is a valid reason for him to be killed.

This one should have already been the deal breaker.

It's not much of a fad when these types of stories have been around since forever. The story of super powered Gilgamesh is about 4000 years old. Classical literature is full of demigod heroes fighting mythical creatures. In medieval times it was heroic knights facing off against dragons, demons and magic.

Modern superheroes are just a continuation of this. The concept of heroes fighting fantastical opponents is just appealing apparently.

You have that right whether you pay for it or not. You are not obligated to watch ads on a public tv channel. Or in a free magazine. Or in a brochure that was put in your mailbox.

Besides, there are more differences between internet ads and the rest. To name a few, advertising in print or on TV never:
- install malware
- run crypto miners
- follow you around online
- construct a profile on you and sell it to others
- increase bandwith, driving up loading times and (potentially) costs

Not to mention the lack of editorial oversight that makes it more likely the ads are misleading, fraudulent or inappropriate. All things considered, I honestly believe ignoring tv/print ads is more unethical than blocking internet ads.

That said, internet ads have become obnoxiously intrusive compared to what they were ten years ago or so. When I was a teenager, ads were usually a banner offering you a product or service to get your attention.

Internet advertisement in the late '90s - early '00s was pretty damn awful with popups everywhere. It wasn't until popup blocking software became popular (and later integrated in most browsers) that this problem was solved.

When you watch cable tv, make sure to schedule your bathroom breaks during the movie so you don't miss a second of the commercial breaks. And you better not skip over any ads in the newspaper either!

Not really a valid comparison. IAMA only verifies the identity of the poster or their occupation, not the stories they tell.
