Also wanted to add the ambience is pretty cool. Between missions you're on your ship which is kind of like in Warframe but a little less snazzy (at least for now). You can manage your weapon load out here, go to the strategy map and fly to a planet to choose your missions, etc. It tells you what the status is of the planet (percent liberated or defended) and every mission helps liberate or defend the planet. Once you choose a mission you go to the hellpod and it drops you down into the Battlefield. And you can just look out the window and watch other pods and cannons firing off.

Like it is pretty simple in between missions but it makes you feel like you're part of the world.

It's pretty fun.

You start by selecting your loadout. You choose a primary weapon (think assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles), a secondary (like pistols), and a grenade. Then you choose your Stratagems - these are special drops you can call in - they consist of things like automatic turrets, artillery support, bomber/fighter support, armored mech suits, and special weapons like grenade launchers and heavy machine guns. Typically you're trying to balance what you have with what your teammates have so you don't all end up with nukes and heavy machine guns, though it's usually not the end of the world at least on lower difficulties if you do.

Then you drop into the mission. There are two main fronts spread across several planets. Some are against robots (with ranged weapons and heavy armor and shit), and some are against bugs (think the bugs from Starship Troopers or perhaps Zerg from SC2).

You have a primary objective and a timelimit. Your primary objective could be something like activating and launching an ICBM, evacuating civilians from an outpost, extracting fuel from pipelines, etc. There are also many secondary objectives, such as destroying enemy nests, extracting research data, destroying certain facilities, loading and activating artillery, etc. And then there are many points of interest where you can find resources. Once you've done the primary objective you have to reach an extraction point and call in extraction, wait for the ship to arrive (I think it's two minutes?) and then you have like 20 seconds to load up or you're left behind. In this respect it's like L4D.

As you play you find resources and get experience and another currency that let you upgrade your ship with new facilities - this helps you do stuff like call in certain stratagems more quickly, get more ammo with your stratagems, etc.

You also get war medals that you use to unlock new gear, everything from cosmetics to new weapons. These are unlocked through War Bonds (think Battle Passes), but you can grind out war medals through personal and community objectives as well as find them in missions.

It's generally a really great time.

Oh and you get a certain number of "reinforcements" per mission, so it's not like you'll play for 30 minutes then die then just be screwed out of rewards. Your teammates can call in a spawn beacon and you will respawn.

I share weird idiosyncracies with my family and I don't know where I picked it up. Like my brother and I always buy things in pairs - could be cereal, toothpaste, etc. I didn't know he did it until I went shopping with his wife one time and she was like "your brother does the same thing".

Also we haven't seen each other in several years and we both haven't really been to our (well, more like my since he was already almost out of high school when we moved) hometown. Our dad took us very rarely to a coffee shop in another town. For some reason even though I had only been there like twice that I could recall, I felt like I wanted to go there again the last time I was up here. My brother was here recently and he also stopped at the coffee shop. It's just weird, there are tons of other cafes in the area and places to go but for some reason we felt an attraction to that one stupid cafe lol.

I don't remember *all* the details any more, but from what I remember, the property was built on a river and you had to do some miniquests and collect resources to build it out. Most or all of it was outdoors so you didn't have to go through a loading screen and you could enjoy nature. And there were scripted random events where people would come to visit you, sometimes to trade, sometimes to try to turn you into a vampire.

Just finished the first season (I hope there's a second one), it is a pretty damn good show with a lot of tone shifts that keep you on your toes with which direction a lot of the scenes are going to go. The first episode or two have some weird editing deficiencies in them with awkward scene cuts and it starts to fall a little flat in episode 3 but quickly recovers and finishes out strong.

Not a hard-core Fallout fan but I played 3 through 4 so I figured I'd give 76 another fair shake and try to explore this part of the wasteland. Only got about 4 hours in the last time.

Didn't remember much so I started a new character. The game crashed one minute in when I went to grab my Pipboy. Relaunched and I was already outside the vault (speed run strategy unlocked?).

Actually a little more fun than I remember. After Starfield it is refreshing being able to just loot everything and anything without second guessing and being able to actually use it, makes for quicker exploring

i could never get into wildlands. i tried and i tried, but i always w/o fail would sorta lose interest at around the same part of the game each & every time.
and honestly it has been so long since i played that i dont even remember what the biggest issue was, but something about it felt shallow by comparison, like i hate to say it but i immediately think of a term along the lines of beta-like right off-hand

also Breakpoint is not a bad game at all really, i feel like its just a meme for people to say that for some reason b/c Ubisoft are dorks & AAA-studios = le epic fail these days in the eyes of most

i liked it a whole lot better than the previous 2 FarCry entries combined, at least.
i also appreciated Breakpoint a lot as well since its characters & dialogue are actually pleasantly avoidable, unlike FarCry 6 and its stupid obnoxious crap like being forced to deal with dog, Chorizo, because
Breakpoint to me was significantly more shallow than Wildlands.

It tried to be too much of a loot shooter instead of just a tactical stealth game. The AI was atrocious so you could clear every location by just camping in a corner of a room and letting enemies come to you one at a time. The world was empty and devoid of life. The life that was there was weird - I remember in one mission I did something for a Russian character, the guy had a few lines with a Russian accent and then immediately he went to a flat regular ass American English accent saying generic lines. And basic features like aircraft were completely useless - the enemy had laser precision aim and would snipe you out of helicopter cockpits instantly, and none of the missions really ever called for the use of aircraft anyway so they were an unnecessary feature, almost like what we saw between FC5 and FC6.

The worst part... was that the story just wasn't finished. Besides the fact that it sucked ass - I loved that Wildlands was written by a guy who had extensive knowledge of cartel operations, and it felt personal, you're tearing up this international drug ring one asshole at a time. In Breakpoint it's mostly this faceless enemy ("drones!"), and while that is relevant for the modern day, they failed miserably to incorporate it into a meaningful, emotionally impactful story. And it wasn't finished, like not even remotely so.

I watched up through Episode 3 this morning, surprisingly better than I expected, though my expectations were pretty low lol. Acting is good, cinematography tends to be pretty good though I've noticed some jarring/weird cuts and edits here and there.

I'm not a hardcore Fallout fan, have only played through 3, NV, 4 and a little of 76. I feel like there are some cool aspects of the games in there. A lot of the subtle-ish gaming commentary is generic to video games in general, not necessarily Fallout specifically.

There are some really dumb plot points in it though which ruins a little bit of it. Characters and moments that are just way too perfect and convenient. And some things (like that Enclave laboratory) felt really fucking out of place.
