the other day i mentioned something to my friend about how impressive it is that LeBron is putting up such phenomenal numbers, especially given his age. his response was "his stats this year aren't impressive because he stat pads". i asked what he meant, and he described a situation where LA was losing to Indiana by like 10+ points and LA had the ball with almost no time left and LeBron dribbled down for a layup. apparently that final bucket gave him 30 points and 50% FGP for the game and, according to my friend, "padded his stats". and im like ".... bro, if he had 28 points and 47% FPG that would still be pretty damn impressive for a 37 year old". the way his haters just dismiss his accomplishments is amusing.

LeBron haters: "this is meaningless because LeBron pads his stats"

I feel like I died so many times and that it was almost...unfair. Did you also feel that way too? Like I'd be running to do a task and just before I hit the button for the task I got killed.

in games with limited resources, i'm pretty paranoid about "getting stuck" (getting to a point and not having enough resources to complete it with no way to get more). this fear lead me to replay sections over and over until i completed them with minimal damage taken and minimal ammo used. so i'd replay a section until i 'got it right' and then quickly save. i abused the ever loving crap out of quick save/load. in hindsight, this really dampened my enjoyment of the game. and i finished with like 20+ medkits so i definitely didn't need to play that way <_<

I also had repair and hacking skills pretty high. I invested a point or two into telekinesis and stuff like that but didn't find it of much use.

i thought i was going to go with repair + hacking. in one early fight with a Typhon i saw a damaged turret in the room, so I invested some points into repair and fixed it. then the Typhon killed the thing in like .... 2 seconds. it didn't help at all. and since neuromods were scarce, especially in the beginning, i reloaded a previous save and went another route.

did you feel the game was stingy with the neuromods? because i kinda did.

Did you try the morph skill tree?

negative. i did no Typhon mods at all. something made me feel like doing that was "bad". it made for a pretty amusing choice during the ending, though.

what 'build' did you do? i went with fully upgraded shotgun + combat focus + stealth. it mostly worked well, as long as i had shotgun shells to spare. for far too long i struggled to have enough ammo because i didn't think to recycle weapons i didn't need/

how did you feel about the combat in zero gravity? i found those parts to be insufferably frustrating. really enjoyed the game otherwise.

in one of his recent videos he's hitting a vape pen while playing with a gun. pretty much sums him up.

he took a lot of inspiration from Bela Fleck, who has been exploring the possibilities of the banjo for decades. he started doing the whole "recreate classical works" stuff a while ago. he's done a "jamband" (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) too.

he even did some stuff with Thile. i saw them play a show, just them two, and it was *chefs kiss*

if you were financially independent (ie retired), what would you do with your time?

i playing it now for the first time. it's sorta fun and pretty charming, but i don't see what the hype was about. at all. i'm in the hot area.

shopping for just one here.

i go to the grocery once a week and my typical shopping list results in something like a $40-$60 bill per trip. however, some weeks it'll be higher if i need to buy something like dog food, or if a few of the bulk items i guy all need refilled in a single trip. just the other day my bill was just over $100 because i ran out of a bunch of stuff at once.

so for the month, i'd average it out to $250

edit: this includes anything i buy at the 'grocery store', which includes bathroom / hygiene products along with 'household' items like paper towels, TP, etc.

as someone who doesn't eat meat, chili without beans would be very ..... unsatisfying.

most days i have a 12oz cup of green tea after lunch then a 16 oz cup of black tea in the afternoon. sometimes on Friday or Saturday I'll have a second cup of coffee instead of the black tea b/c staying up late is fun

If you just pan fried it then it wouldnt really soften much and youd end up with bitter crunchy eggplant. Better to bake it. You can still probably fry it but you would still need to bake it first to soften it.

May I ask what made you a recent vegetarian?

it's been something i've considered doing for a few years. over the years i slowly started reducing my meat intake and finally took the plunge last Thanksgiving (last time i intentionally ate meat).

my primary motivation for reducing my meat consumption was both environmental (the carbon footprint of meat is outstanding vs vegetarian diet) and feeling horrible about contributing to the suffering caused by factory farm conditions. i didn't have a problem with eating an animal on principle, but knowing that animal spent basically its entire life suffering just made me feel terrible.

now that i've been meat free for a few months i've sorta changed my views on the principle of eating it. i can eat tasty and healthy food that i enjoy (and is much cheaper) without causing a sentient being to die, their lives are more valuable than my desire to taste a specific flavor.

that said, i don't judge anyone who does eat it.

I got like 5 lighters in my room because my roommates all smoke and one thing I noticed about smokers is that they're always losing lighters.

its always been somewhat of a teeny, tiny personal accomplishment to keep a lighter until it runs out.

1. Slice the eggplant
2. Sweat the eggplant with salt for a bit to get rid of some acrid flavors
3. Dip the eggplant in flour, then egg batter, then breadcrumb/parm/herb mix
4. Pan fry them.on each side a couple minutes
5. Assemble in casserole dish with marinara, eggplant, sliced fresh mozzarella, little more marinara, and parmesan, then another whole second layer on top (I had 8 little mountains)
6. Bake
7. Top with fresh basil and oregano
