Thats an emotional standpoint, not a logical one. Like I said before it begs for the story and world to bend itself over backwards fellating this character rather than being realistic and, as things happen, having characters die because they already in a situation they can and maybe should die in lol.

If you want to talk about realism, there's no such thing as a superhero. Especially a "human superhero."

Could a unicorn heal wounds by touching them with its horn? Could they breathe fire? Could a unicorn live for centuries and never age? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on whatever rules you establish because a unicorn does not exist. Humans exist and their limitations are well-defined. If you're an expert boxer and an okay painter, people are impressed because you're multitalented. Batman's an ace at everything he does. That's not realistic.

The story bends itself time and again so that he always wins, always has a card up his sleeve, always has some prior knowledge that'll get him out of even the worst of situations. Why should that abandon him in his time of death? Why should a human who has punched out robots get shot in the back by a pickpocket that he didn't see hiding in the corner because it's realistic for a hero to die in an anticlimactic or underwhelming manner?

The Coen Brothers could probably make that death work. Christopher Nolan might be able to make that work. Quentin Tarantino could have people swearing it was the greatest moment in superhero cinema. For most people writing or directing a scene of that nature, that would be a major letdown.

Every scene is hand chosen. None of this is real life. None of it is plugged into a simulation. You can't feed a dozen Batman stories to a supercomputer and ask AI, "When and how would Batman logically be killed if this were real?" I'd give Batman two weeks tops before they traced him back to stately Wayne Manor. Security cameras, police radar, extensive searches on who would have the resources and motivation to become Batman.

It's all pretend. So why not give the audience something that is emotionally satisfying?

Thats not realistic writing. Applying some protective status to a character simply because people like him is the definition of pandering; plot armor, all sorts of things we generally view negatively.

Batman is plot armor personified. Why shouldn't he call upon it when it's his time to die?

He's the world's greatest martial artist -- mastering 127 styles -- because he had money and time to train. He's the world's greatest detective because he had money and time to train. He's the world's greatest costume designer because he had money and time to train. He's the world's greatest driver and pilot because he had money and time to train. He's the world's greatest inventor of gadgets because he had money and time to train. He possesses an encyclopedic/photographic memory of virtually all documented human knowledge because he had money and time to train. He can take robots, demons, aliens, beings with superhuman strength, and sometimes even gods in combat because he had money and time to train.

No super powers though. It's all money and training. Dude trained 744 hours a day since he was a youth. It could have been anybody in his position. We just didn't have enough time or money.

It depends on the context.

If I'm allowed to declare the first three films a completely trilogy, and disregard the rest of the movies, I'd go with Dream Warriors. If I have to take the series as a whole, New Nightmare becomes the more satisfying of the two films.

Major Series Spoilers
Part IV nullifies Nancy's heroic sacrifice since everyone she died to save in Part III gets killed in the opening scenes of Part IV. Wes Craven's New Nightmare demotes Nancy to a fictional character played by Heather Langenkamp, but at least it gives Heather/Nancy a more fitting sendoff. (And a victorious one, for once.)

Some heroes should die. But, almost invariably, they should receive a John Wayne death if they do.

That's where the character is mortally wounded in ambush, but gets the bad guys before they go. That's when a character temporarily survives a losing battle and dies surrounded by friends who mourn them. That's where a character safely makes it off of a sinking ship, but dives back into the water after hearing that a child is still below deck. They hand the child off to the rescue team, but get their foot trapped in the process. They say their meaningful last goodbyes just before the water covers their face and seals their fate.

If you have the hero chasing a bad guy across the street, only to have them inadvertently run over by oncoming traffic, you'd better be intentionally aiming to piss the audience off. And you'd better be financially secure because another opportunity might not be in your immediate future.

Note to mods: Those are not spoilers for any John Wayne movies or any specific movie. I was using the term "John Wayne death" to refer to the hero character receiving all pomp and circumstances upon their death.

Batman wouldn't buy Twitter and turn it into a shithole lol. Well, more than it already was. Elon Musk needs to stop being shorthand for "rich guy" by people.

It's not shorthand for rich guy. It's shorthand for "richest guy in the world" or "super rich."

The joke that Batman has so much money but doesn't use it to help Gotham needs to end, because he does use it to help as much as he can. He has dozens of charities set up, helps fund orphanages, and does all sorts of philanthropic work. The problem is Gotham is a corrupt shithole so he can only do so much as Bruce Wayne.

And he's mostly tackling mobsters and supervillains, it's not like he beats up someone stealing bread for their family.

I think you underestimate how much could be done by the world's richest man. What you're talking about is throwing around a little charity money out of his excess wealth. Batman could fundamentally change Gotham City.

If he's a millionaire, they can make it so that the best he can do is go out and become a vigilante. As a multi-billionaire, he could systematically fix the problems within Gotham City; from the corrupt police down to people hustling to make a living. He would never eliminate individuals who hurt others for shits and giggles. There might still be some small room for Batman in settling domestic violence or beating up some gang members who are a part of gangs from choice rather than need. But there isn't any kind of scenario in which an Elon Musk or Bill Gates dressing up like a rodent-themed ninja is the best way to solve a city's problems.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yjI5238Zxc

They should have left him as a millionaire. Let Batman take the L on one category. If you're the world's smartest person, that's a good thing. If you're the world's strongest person, that's a good thing. If you're the world's richest person, it means that other people are starving while you're hording life-saving resources.

With the benefit of hindsight, Nintendo made the wrong choice in going with cartridge-based games. I would have hated the load screens every time I entered a world in Super Mario 64 (which likely would have been called something other than 64), but we could have had Luigi. We could have had more bosses. We could have had Final Fantasy 7 on a Nintendo console and a sequel to Super Mario RPG.

The Disk Drive would have given the console a little more power, and there were plans to have a Super Mario 64 sequel where you could ride Yoshi, but it never caught on in Japan and never made it to the West.

Yeah, making him Elon Musk with muscle pretty much ruins Batman. Canonically, he would be the wealthiest man in the world if he consolidated all of his assets.

He has the money to solve every problem in his stories except his own grief. He doesn't actually care about crime. He just needs an excuse to beat up the less fortunate. Hell, even his parents getting killed only happened because they were too cheap to hire a bodyguard. It's not like Bruce had learned much either. He has a huge mansion with one 70-year-old man to take care of it all.

That's one of the problems with trying to make Batman "perfect" in every field. Perfect 10 looks, perfect 10 strength, perfect 10 intelligence, and perfect 10 wealth means that he has the resources to solve his problems and opts not to. They should have left it at him being a millionaire who can afford a fancy car and a plane.

Since Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World came with my SNES, I would have beaten Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario Bros. 2 within a relatively short time frame. Oddly enough, I didn't beat Super Mario Bros. 1 until a year or two later.

I do remember reading the instruction manual for Super Metroid and thinking, "Samus is a girl...? That's pretty cool." Come to think of it, that was probably the first game with a female lead that I ever played to competion.
