They could still have that story arc without him being sexist.

It could simply be a matter of machismo where he thinks that he'll win because he's undefeated / the toughest in his villain, etc. They probably won't. But they could keep the idea of him assuming that he'll win, learning from them, dressing like them, and so forth without it being directly sexist.

Let's say that you were somebody in the business who had talent, money, and connections. What would you do? Would you give up on it, find a surrogate, or create your own like George Lucas did when he couldn't get the rights to Flash Gordon?

  • If I wanted to make a live action Mario movie, and Nintendo said no, I could easily settle for doing a Joe & Mac movie.
  • Looking at Warner/DC, if they said no to me doing a Batman movie or a Catwoman movie, I would just do a film based on Miss Fury/Black Fury (the first female superhero to wear a black cat costume and one who is in the public domain). She's from World War II, so it'd be like an Indiana Jones movie starring Catwoman.
  • If I wanted to do a Ninja Gaiden movie, but couldn't get the rights, I would see about acquiring the rights to remake American Ninja. If I couldn't do that either, I'd make an original property about a female ninja battling demons.
  • If I wanted to do a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, and Viacom said no, I'd probably have to let that one slide. I wouldn't want to do a film adaptation of Street Sharks or Biker Mice from Mars, nor would I want to create an original series of anthropomorphic animal heroes.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/3/38ef341b.jpg

Edit: This doesn't have to be exclusive to movies. You could be talking about a comic book adaptation, animated series adaptation, video game adaptation, etc.

Its a part we all tend to miss when a derivative work deviates from the original.

Sure the creators are upset, but they also sell off the rights for millions lol. Theyll be ok.

Kinda makes me think of the Ninja Turtles. I think their creators, at least one of them, would have legitimately rather the series had been kept a gritty independent comic than for them to have made something in the vicinity of 200 million back in the 80s off of the wacky cartoon show and its royalties.

I watched Foxy Brown tonight. It has a higher IMDb rating, but it feels to me like a step down from Coffy. And I don't mean because it has less nudity.

If I were to rank the blaxploitation films I've seen that have female leads, I would go as follows:

Coffy (1973)
Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold (1975)
Foxy Brown (1974)
Cleopatra Jones (1973)
TNT Jackson (1974)
Sugar Hill (1974)

That game was harder than it had any right being.

I get the feeling that one of the producers -- probably Ken Lobb -- was desperately afraid that someone might beat it as a rental.

As a kid, and as a teen, I could never beat WizPig. The acceleration trick is mentioned in passing in one easily skippable cutscene and is vital for beating him. Even after committing that missing piece of the puzzle to memory, it still took me the better part of two hours to beat him. The rematch took half as long, but that was still a chunk of time to devote to one boss race.

Body shaming is pointless in politics. (And hypocritical if coming from the left.)

I don't care about his weight, his tiny hands, his combover, or his spray tan. I'm not trying to date the man. I care that he ran on a platform of hatred. I care that he generalized Latinos as rapists, that he detained border children in cages and had illegal hysterectomies performed on Latinas entering this country without documentation. I care that he blames "China," like as if all of China were responsible, for the COVID virus. I care that he told people to drink bleach or take horse de-wormers rather than get the vaccine. I care that he allows white supremacists to fawn over him and declared plenty of them to be good people. I care that the dude is a fucking rapist and an insurrectionist who should spend every last one of his remaining days in a prison cell.

Unless you can give a credible argument for why a big belly or tiny hands are responsible for Trump doing the things he does, you're just letting off steam.

Avatar never called to me, but I do feel bad for the fans and original series creators. It's very disheartening to have a film and a streaming service series which both miss the mark of the show's original intent.

I'm being presumptuous on that last part, since the series isn't out yet, but that deleted post talking about Aang's character development being omitted to streamline the narrative seems to be pretty telling.

He had the best name of the group.

Western author Louis Lamour said that notorious outlaw Johnny Ringo barely did anything (besides shoot one man in the back) and only made it into the history books because of his catchy name. I can't really argue against that.

If the name Ringo hadn't become synonymous with a member of, let's face it, the single-most iconic band of all time, I imagine it would have become a common stock name for flashy, sexy, or edgy characters in movies and TV shows.
