I think this is more about mood than statistics. Republicans are triumphalist when they are in power while Democrats, especially with their current coalition have failed to take advantage of positive economic indicators.

Long story short
When a Republican is president and the economy is good-
Republicans - We are the best! *pounds chest* this is the greatest economy and the we are the greatest country!
Democrats- But there is still so much inequality in the world and so many are left behind. This is actually the worst economy ever and this country is horrible.

When a Democrat is president and the economy is good-
Republicans- Its OK in spite of the president and it could be even better if we had our guy in the White House.

Statistically the economy has done better under democrats than Republicans in the past few decades but you wouldn't know it based on how people feel about the economy.

It really is embarrassing how the meme that republicans are better for the economy persists. Must be one of those "well they have to have something" things.

I know affordability especially in housing is a major problem, but there are way too many idiots that dont get that our economy has recovered from Covid much more than the global average and that a lot of what Bidens wanted to do has been blocked by a self-admittedly sabotaging right. Doesnt help that the media barely pays attention to the shit that the GOP pulls at this point and highlights to hell every negative associated with the Dems.

Republicans take advantage of the fact that policies sometimes don't take full effect immediately, allowing them to simultaneously criticize Democrat governance while also taking credit for it
