Judging by the link provided it would appear that this is not a left-wing media thing and more of a power of the press thing, in which the court agrees with the request to see certain records, and its right to share all such information to the public. The document also states that such a formal request by these companies within the media should not have been necessary.

So to the fact that these companies asked for the information, you are right.

The real question is in regard to what will be done with such records, as they are to be public. You should be looking at that, rather than arguing against the flow of information entirely. Remember, the press is free to say what it will from the information it has, so the press may in turn limit what it shares, or it may not.

For one person, weapons degrading might be acceptable because it's what the developer wanted, and because it forces them to experiment with other weapons and not just rely on the most powerful sword all the time. They might even feel like it ultimately makes the experience more enjoyable for them. But for other people, it's going to be an unnecessary pain in the ass, which takes good weapons away from them as soon as they start getting used to them, and which may encourage them to hoard good weapons "for future use" rather than "wasting" them on weaker enemies (see also, the JRPG plight of never using potions and having hundreds of them unused at the end of the game). And even for people who agree that they don't like the concept, there will be some who see it as a minor evil that can mostly be ignored or worked around, and others who see it as a far more significant problem that makes the entire gameplay experience frustrating and annoying.

Weapon or armor degradation is often a turn-off for me. It's hardly enough to decide if I'll enjoy a game or not, however.

In Minecraft, I have to plan around it on all items, as that's part of the design when I'm doing such a mode where I'm digging and building both (the mode I play least).

In WoW, there are smithies to repair weapons and armor for a price, so I always made sure I made more money than I spent on repairs.

Similar in FFXIV, but in that game I have my crafters all leveled so I just carry the right grade of Dark Matter to repair it all myself; it's much cheaper that way and also more convenient since I can do it almost anywhere.

In Wither 3, since I have the PC version I just installed the mod to turn off degradation. That much alone helped me feel free to explore without having to double back every other map icon or mid-quest, nor waste time or money on repair kits, just to retain the current level of effect that weapons and armor even have.. The game is long enough without that mechanic.

In BotW, degradation happens fast. There is/wasn't (when I played) any real way to repair stuff. It forces you to change over to other weapons, rather than implementing a system where certain weapons are just better for certain situations. If your good or half-decent weapons all break then you are screwed unless there are monster drop weapons on the ground. A few are kind of neat to swing around for like a few minutes, especially if used on our own terms instead of being forced to use them ever, but every one of them is so weak. On the other hand, a few weapons are fairly easy to go back and re-earn, such as certain ancient weapons that I always kept in my inventory for a few slots in case I needed to fight a Guardian or something. In that case I would blow some time on preparations, rather than enjoying most else in the game. (I say most else because ugh... the rain keeping me from climbing almost every time I decide I want to climb) You see, the game's mechanics are not so much a challenge or dynamic use of thought and action, as it's a heavy restriction that actively tries to keep you from enjoying the game at a decent pace. Want to climb, a heavily focused feature in the game? Wait a while in some places, or some something else entirely everywhere else. Want to use that shiny, awesome weapon? It's gone in a few, short swings, so make it count. Honestly, the degradation wouldn't be a tenth as bad if the rate were cut by 40-50%, but the devs went overboard on that.

Al Capone is such a poor comparison. His actions were illegal, but with the good of the common man in mind (helping soup kitchens, schools, smaller businesses). Manafort is shown, via evidence well before the trial, that he lived a lavish life with the financial aid of a hostile foreign power, and that's without the common man or woman in mind. Of course Capone was treated poorly, because the rich and powerful did not like what he stood for more than they cared about his crimes (compared to the majority of other Americans who didn't like him because of how ruthless and violent he was).

Keep in mind that Capone took a deal--or at least was led to believe he did--with a judge to reduce his time to two and a half years by pleading guilty to tax evasion and prohibition. He ended up trying to change his plea to not guilty when the same judge announced that there was no deal, and that ultimately cost Capone as he was sentenced to eleven years.

Trump is an idiot trying to deflect wrongdoing by comparing himself or those who worked with him with other people in entirely different situations. People who blindly take his word without question are even worse, and are perhaps too damn common.

He won the election, therefore he's a dictator because Dems didn't get what they wanted.

1) He won the Electoral Vote, an outdated process that only burns the people more than it represents them. He did not win the popular vote, even again Hillary (who should still have lost as well).

2) It's his actions and words combined that make him akin to a dictator, not the political divide in this country that additionally got turned up to 11 in recent years. His desire for a military parade (for his own sake, not the military's honor); his love (for a lack of a better word) for Putin and Kim Jong Un, as opposed to more democratic leaders around the world; his calling of the presses as an enemy of the country, despite the First Amendment stating otherwise (and subsequent murder of several members of the press not even a week later); and more. Ignoring these things or blowing them off as "fake" doesn't prove they didn't happen, but rather proves that you're blindly licking Trump's ass crack.

Unless BTB is modding it, you can get through every other FF game just by mashing one button and occasionally healing if your HP gets low.

Again, this is a sign of being overleveled or geared, even in the American SNES version of IV where half of the mechanics were removed.

Ultima_Dragoon posted...
With XII, you don't need to mash the button anymore, but you still have to make decisions in battle, and to me, that's the most important part of FF battles. Mashing X or B or whatever in every battle was never riveting gameplay.

"Which of these dozen or so gambits do I run, and with which characters?" Again, the setups are a no-brainer, otherwise. Tedious and yet dumb. And then you get to turn your brain off for the actual fights. To me that is indicative of a shit battle system.

XII had my least favorite battle system as well, of any game with the FF title unless you count "All the Bravest" (FFXV was close behind). It was too easy to set up the Gambits for everyone so you can let the fights play themselves until you decide to walk away or use your own commands to override the Gambits you had set up.

In other FFs, typically, you had the opportunity to manually enter commands for each party member, depending on the situations as they arose, unless you were severely over-leveled or geared to the point where you shout "MECHANICS ARE FOR CARS LOLOLOLOLllLLLllL...11!1" and just confirm the attack button the whole way through (at which point, that is plainly on you for over-doing it on the grind). Even Mystic Quest had more input or mechanics, and, in that game, you could set the secondary character to Auto if you wanted to. Even in XIII and XIII-2 you had paradigm shifts to change up what the other party members did at a given moment.

In XII, you could put in those commands manually in case you were just bad at creating Gambits before a fight, but you could also just hold the control stick aimlessly (and mindlessly) and let your party do all of the work, with barely any attuning of the Gambits at all. No, really, you have to actively try and be bad (or be a natural at it) to think the process is challenging or engaging in any way. But wait! Is that not enough for you? Here, have an optional boss battle that literally takes a few hours to beat if you're as powerful as possible, and you can even walk away from it periodically to heal up and come back to progress some more. Wow... so "fun."

People joked about how easy Mystic Quest was, but only XII made me feel like I needed to read a book or watch a show to keep my brain moving while I "played" it.

It's one of those movies you just assume everybody has seen by this point, although Coming to America is probably the most popular of the two.

Also, Coming to America wasn't Eddie's last funny movie, although it was probably the last real high point in his career. After Beverly Hills Cop 3 in the early 90s, he mostly starred in critically panned films (or ones with good reception but didn't make much money -- such as Bowfinger) and as a talking animal sidekick.

Yeah, his best after Beverly Hills Cop 3 was possibly his first Dr. Doolittle film, and even that was just OK.

I love 3's music, and enjoyed its story, though it was kinda slow-paced and too easily broken up in chapters (including a final chapter we ~almost~ could have done with or without). The combat was a little bit too easy, but also took excessive grinding to get anywhere good with it. The puzzles were decent and simplistic. It was also the last of the (non-remake) WA games to do the tools properly so that your main characters all felt like they were contributing outside of combat.
