Yeah, you download steam onto your computer and from there it's just like a website, just use your login information to get in. You will have to re-download any games but you won't have to buy them again.

I don't know about accounts though, I only have mine so I don't have any experience there.

At least it's not like NCAA brackets where losing a team you had going far is such a huge killer you might as well give up. But yeah, the disparity between flip-flopping 1/2 and just getting even one of them right is pretty large.

Also the website is super slow sometimes, I've gotten my points for colombia but haven't gotten them for mexico in 2nd yet.

Also, for reference, using the scoring system, this means the max possible for the group stage is 228 points, while the max for the KO stage is 148 points, with 80 of that coming from getting the right teams in the right spots to start off. So yeah, since that section is basically a carryover from the group stage, that means the group stage is worth more than the KO stage by far. If someone theoretically flipped 1/2 in every bracket, they would end up with 24 points in the group stage instead of the 160 they would have gotten from getting 1/2 right and not 3/4. That means the max they could get from the KO stage would be 68 points extra. A total of 92 points, for getting every KO team right in the wrong order and correctly predicting the entire tournament, as opposed to 100 points from someone who got 1/2 right in 5 of the 8 groups and missed every advancing team in the tournament, not even counting the extra fixture points they'd get.

This is dumb.

Because this is a world cup. After the world cup, you go back to your club teams where maybe you play with one of those Brazilians you just humiliated 12 - 1. Maybe it's awkward. 7 - 1 in and of itself is an outrageous result that is no longer common in football. Pushing it further would have been not cool.

It's sports?? You're out to set records and be the best you can be? Not win by a small margin so the other guys participation ribbon isn't too humiliating.

Liberals strike again. Next world cup why keep score let's just all shake hands at the end and we all win?

Also remember that there's no timeouts in soccer. In the first half when Germany is starting to pull away, they don't really have time to convene and just be like "should we stop scoring?" At that point if you have a chance to score a goal in the world cup semifinals you're taking it. At halftime, the team had a chance to really dissect what it was that was happening and make the conscious decision "let's ease off the gas a little bit" I mean they can't just let brazil have the ball 100% of the time from then on, they still have to play the game. That's why they scored 2 more times. If they just stopped doing anything completely that would have been equal humiliation. They needed to walk a fine line between playing too hard and not playing hard enough.

I think they just screwed up with egypt/saudi because I have Spain and Portugal perfect but swapped Iran and Morocco and i'm behind the group that is "perfect".

Not a huge fan of some of that take. First why does casey getting fired have any bearing on the job he actually did? Yeah, you get 3 points if you get 1/2 reversed. You get 10 per 1 correct and 10 per 2 correct, and 38 if you get 1/2 correct. It's extremely staggered. Think 1/2 reversed should be worth more than at least 2 correct. Wigs also has 6 pts and we were trying to figure it out for the longest time when I finally went and read the "how to play" section.

It's also misleading because the "38 for getting the entire group in the correct order" as it reads only actually applies to 1/2. Myself and others are perfect despite not getting egypt/saudi in the correct order.

So in case anyone's curious, according to the point system, you get more points for getting either 1 or 2 in the correct spot and missing the other entirely than you do for getting 1 and 2 correct but in the reverse order.

I agree with your offensive assessments as a whole, but I must both agree and disagree on the defensive end. I agree that they could regress from #3 since they probably overachieved to get there in the first place, but I disagree that it's a certainty. Most of my defensive players actually increased in rating. I did take a slight downgrade at SS and a decent one at OLB, but everyone else going up I would think would make it even out, especially the DL.

Of course, I also understand that you take actual ingame performance into account moreso than ratings while I'm the opposite, but there's no need for us to go down that road again, lol. I am at least glad you considered taking us 2nd.
