If anything, digital should be wholesale cost. If Amazon/Best Buy can sell a PHYSICAL copy for $45 then a digital should, at the very LEAST, be that price.

It's a delicate balancing act of making money and not pissing off retailers. So right now new AAA titles will never go for less than full msrp on Sony or Microsofts online services.

Simply put, retailers have to charge more as they have more overhead. If Sony or Microsoft came along and said "All digital games are now half the cost of their physical counterparts", there would be a potentially catastrophic backlash from the retailers.

The biggest problem right now is that Sony and Microsoft need someone to sell their hardware. Stores don't make much off the sale of a PS4 or Xbone, but they expect to make more money off the sales of games. If that's taken away, they won't really care about making their $10 on the sale of a console when it won't turn into more sales later.

If they can find a better way to get consoles into the hands of consumers, you can pretty much guarantee you'll see digital games cheaper (as Sony and Microsoft would love to see more money going directly into their pockets)

Amusingly, on my first passport they never put in my middle name. I tried to get them to add it when I got a new passport and they told me no. Said that because it wasn't on the first one, they wouldn't add it to the new one.

Seemed weird and probably wrong, but didn't seem worth arguing over either.

I have two valid passports with different passport numbers, but they're both Canadian passports.

I got a second one because I had to surrender my passport the first time I went to Angola so they could process my Visa. Got a second one to make sure I could get home if there was an emergency or they didn't get my Visa done in time.

It has caused a ton of confusion for poor security folk who notice it (such as when I applied for my Nexus Card or TN Visa)

I literally started bringing junk food with me when I went. I normally eat pretty healthy food, I rarely drink pop, but I do have a bit of a sweet tooth. At the very least I need a bit of fruit. An apple or something.

Going to leave for the airport shortly... super early to go to the airport, but whatever.

The shuttle to the airport leaves at 5:00. Check in opens at 6:00 and closes at 8:00. Flight leaves at about 10:30-11:00.

So basically I'll be at the airport around 5:30 and will have to kill time for 5 hours.

Getting tired of the trips to Africa?

Maybe? This one in particular was quite bad. I definitely preferred being in the camp rather than in the city (believe it or not, I felt I had more freedom when I was isolated in the camp). But I think the biggest problem this time is how not busy I was. When I was in the camp I was working 12 hour days nonstop, and always had something to do (often worked more than 12 hours just trying to get things done).

Here... well, in the last week I've definitely spent more time on PotD than I have actually working. We grossly overestimated how many people would require training (which is what I was sent over to do - 1 on 1 training sessions at about 1.5 hours each session). The first two weeks were great, busy the full 12 hours training people. Then interest in training just took a nose dive. And I've been training 1 or 2 people a day for the last 10 days or so. So only actually putting in 2-4 hours of work in a 12 hour day.

It's been very boring. I had other work to keep me busy, but I found it hard to really focus on it, as it wasn't why I came out here.

The 13 hour flight is rough though. Sometimes if I'm tired enough I can sleep through most of it, but that's unusual. Normally I can sleep 5-6 hours... which still leaves like 7-8 hours of flying. Fortunately I'm in business class with a chair that reclines to nearly 180 degrees, so I'm able to actually sleep comfortably.

I have my Switch with me and have been playing the fuck out of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, so I'll have that to keep me entertained.

It was worse last time I did it. Add an hour long bus ride, another 1.5 hour flight, and another 4 hour layover into the mix. This time it's only taking me 27 hours to get home instead of like 35.

Still a while to wait until my flight... which isn't until 10:30PM (12 hours from now). And then it's a 13 hour flight. Followed by a 4 hour layover. Followed by a 4 hour flight. Followed by another 4 hour layover (probably longer as this flight always seems to get delayed). Followed by a 1.5 hour flight.

But dammit, I'm heading home. And I'm gonna take a few days off to just sleep and play Monster Hunter and Dissidia (though oh boy has Dissidia not been getting great reviews...)

Because that's duckbears gimmick. He's sensationalizes news and everyone knows to take whatever he posts with a grain of salt.

The only redeeming quality to his topics is that they sometimes actually spark interesting discussion. For the most part though, they're pure trash (and people do constantly call out his awful awful topics).

You think a special focused on him to suggest that he's innocent would spend any time focusing on things pointing to potential guilt?

More people need to realize this about documentaries. The vast majority of them are trying to push a specific goal or idea, and will make sure to only present things that support that goal. If they run into anything that contradicts the message they are trying to send, they will either cut it out entirely, or significantly downplay it.

You don't have to let the movers move everything... Put the gaming stuff and collectible in a separate box and transport it yourself. Leave the heavy lifting like couches, tables, bedroom furniture, etc. to the movers.

I'll let you in on a secret. Literally everyone hates helping people move. Moving sucks. We do it because they're our friends, and you want to help out your friends... but moving sucks.

Also, getting friends to help comes with multiple costs as well. The accepted payment of "pizza and beer" isn't free. Can easily drop 100 bucks on that depending on how many people you have helping you. Plus the cost of a Uhaul truck if you don't have a suitable vehicle for moving. These costs all add up, and a lot of times for short distance moves - assuming you pack up all your own stuff... getting a moving company isn't actually all that more expensive.

That, and moving companies have insurance. If you have your friends help you, and they accidentally bump a wall and scratch the fuck out of the drywall, who is responsible for it? Well. You are. It'd be an awful dick move to charge your friend to repair it when they were helping you out of the kindness of their heart. If the moving company does that, you can demand they fix it.

I keep looking at condos, but in this market (in my city) I don't know how I'd ever make money on it.

Regina grossly overbuilt condos while the oil prices were sky high. I remember most of them going for roughly $300-325k. Now they are begging people to buy them at closer to $250k by throwing in all kinds of incentives.

But man, even in "normal" circumstances, you're looking at around $200/month in property taxes and $200-300/month in condo fees. So that's up to $500/month in just fees, before you ever get to your mortgage. My rent is only $800/month. It's really hard to justify buying in this scenario.

Especially when I don't believe the value of the condo (or even a house right now) will outpace what I'd be paying in interest on the mortgage.

From the perpetrator? Sure, you could file a civil suit. As the old saying goes though, you can't get blood from a stone. If the person is rotting away in jail and has no assets, all you got were some expensive lawyer bills and a piece of paper that says you're owed money you'll never get. If the perpetrator happens to have money though, you could end up actually getting something. So it's a case-by-case thing.

All that concert did was make me realize I don't know nearly as many GnR songs as I thought, and I know way more Our Lady Peace than I thought.

The GnR concert was also freaking 3 hours long. Closer to 5 once you count the opening bands. Which is entirely too long for a concert.

The were nearly 2 hours late getting on stage. There were massive acoustic issues for the first 30-45 minutes that made everything really echoey. I didn't like their choice of songs for the most part.

Then a few months after the concert they announced the lead singer had terminal brain cancer and I felt a little bad about how much I badmouthed the concert <_<

Don't forget to include the extra charges for importing the game. If I recall correctly, aren't import duties and VAT quite expensive? I'm not entirely sure on how the process works, but I assume there are extra fees involved with distributing the goods throughout the EU.

And yes, that wouldn't necessarily apply to digital goods, but as stated before, Sony/Microsoft don't want to undercut retailers.
