Now, I run on a pretty regular basis. 4-5km roughly 4 times a week. But 5km is nowhere near 21.1km. I had planned to do the half marathon, but it looked like work would have me traveling during the event, so I scrapped the idea and didn't train for it. About 2 weeks before the marathon, I got word that the trip had been postponed... So I signed up for the half marathon and basically ran it cold turkey.

I fucked up the pacing. I fucked up the pacing hard. I ran the first 11km at an even slightly faster pace than I usually run, finishing it in about 55min. Pretty damn good, on pace for under 2 hours. But I was exhausted already by that point... Not so good. I struggled up until the 17km mark, where my legs completely cramped up. Like, it hurt to exist, nevermind try to run on them... So I was basically forced to walk the last 4km, which annihilated my time.

I finished it in 2:25, not even close to the 2 hour mark I wanted.

Better luck next year I guess. Also, I should probably properly train for it.

I want to platinum the game, but the bestiary looks painful, and from what I hear the 100th stage of the trial is brutal. I'm already 73 hours into the game and I'm pretty burnt out. So I don't think I'll be getting the platinum. Don't want to hunt down all those rare enemies.

By which I mean I'm watching my characters slowly beat the shit out of him.

This is a really poorly designed fight.

Please tell me you never once looked at a guide. Can't stand people saying he's easy while following a guide.

I'm using literally the same strategy for him as I used for every other boss fight, so it's definitely not optimized.

Have Ashe (my White Mage) do literally nothing but heal and revive. Have Vaan (Monk/Uhlan) stab the boss repeatedly and throw a Phoenix Down on Ashe when required, and throw Hi Ethers at her when she needs it. Have Basch (Knight/Red Mage) stab the boss with the Genji Gloves equipped.

During the fight I noticed Yiazmat can inflict Stop, so I set up a gambit on Basch and Vaan to use a Chronos Tear on anyone stopped. Esunaga from Ashe will cover the rest of the status effects.

The fight is not remotely difficult if you are decently leveled. He's just a ridiculous damage sponge.

Depending on your setup, it could easily take 6+.

Fortunately though, you can leave the battle and as long as you're not gone for too long, he won't heal. So you can take breaks and save, you don't have to do it in one sitting.

Still effing ridiculous though.

I have him down to critical health, but I had to stop to run a bunch of errands. Will finish it tonight or tomorrow morning.

Don't donate money it's too easy to mismanage, donate items.

Could make an argument not to donate items either, as about 60% of the items donated never get used, either because it's something they received way more of than they needed, or it's something they didn't really need at all, or it's something that was already purchased in bulk.

True, money has the downside of potentially being mismanaged, but it has the upside of getting them what they need exactly when they need it. They don't need to have large groups of volunteers spending countless hours sorting through donations to get what they need (and getting rid of what they don't), they just go out and get it.

Straight cash is basically the best thing to give if you want to donate. Just make sure you're giving it to a reputable organization.

I assume it's purely a marketing gimmick. They want to tap the market of people that only want to go "once or twice a week". As I'm with you, I've never really felt like I was being "judged" in the gym. Maybe people feel bad if they put two 10lb plates on a bar after watching someone take off 4 45lb plates. I dunno.

you only want the treadmill so you should be golden. Hard to beat that price.

That's what I figured. I used to be a bit of a gym nut, but I'll be honest, it lost it's lustre for me after about a year. I looked great, but it was becoming more of a nuisance than anything to keep up.

Been running for a little over 3 years now and I still enjoy it. Will be doing my first half marathon next weekend. I've wanted to do it for a long time now. Couldn't last year because I was in Africa. Couldn't the year before because of knee problems and my doc told me there was no way in hell I should be running at all, nevermind a marathon. So this is the year. Thought I was going to miss it again this year by going back to Africa but that got pushed to later this month.

Been a while since I did really long distance running though (typically just run 4-5km 4-5 times a week), since I thought I was going to be gone during the marathon... so I made sure I could still do it by running 15km on Wednesday. So I should be all good.

I would say being 500lbs and not having health insurance is a horrible idea... but just being 500lbs alone is horrible, regardless of your insurance situation.

I don't really have any hatred for fat people, but I do always wonder how people let it get anywhere near that point. 250ish I can understand. Okay, you don't care about your body, refuse to exercise, and eat a bunch of junk. Fine. You'll get fat but you made your choice.

But 500lbs? It seems to me like it should legitimately require effort to get to that point. I literally have to count calories if I want to gain weight or I just won't eat enough. What are these people doing? How does this happen?

Basically the only exercise I do these days is running... And winter is coming. Running in -40 weather is less than ideal. Planet Fitness has more treadmills than any gym I've ever seen. So I guess that's worth the $10/month?

I know they get a bad rep for being anti-bodybuilder and whatnot. But really, if they get a bad rep for anything it should be the horrendous colour scheme they've chosen. Place is hideous.

I have nothing against it... But honestly, I've had no reason to put any money into FE. They've been very generous with orbs, and I've been moderately lucky with my pulls.

I don't have some of the powerhouses like Hector. But I got Ike, recently pulled a 4* Reinhardt. And Delthea has been an absolutely house and destroys everything in her path.

b) Where do you work that your boss makes less than you? That also sounds very strange.

While obviously uncommon, it does happen for a few different reasons.

One common reason is that the employee makes more simply because he's more experienced. Was probably offered the position as boss and declined it, or otherwise expressed they weren't interested in it. It's a completely different skill set managing people than it is just working on the projects.

Another reason is the boss got hired from outside the company, and negotiated his/her salary poorly. And now they're in a position where they need to prove themselves before renegotiating. But this is usually short lived assuming the boss knows their employees make more. They'll either demand more money or they'll leave once they find out typically.

And I guess a third reason could be they just really suck at negotiating and don't really care.
