I swear this is almost exactly the clock sound in BG3 in terms of timing

So I noticed the way to the adamantine forge before fighting Nere in the Underdark and I was out of short rests but figured I could quickly make a strong weapon or armor before doing the fight. (I couldn't long rest because that would fail the rescue quest.) Only to be greeted with you know what after managing to get the forge working. So that was a party wipe.

Now after doing all the dark dwarf I got the book from the myconids about the forge and the secret it reveals is... you're gonna get your ass whooped. In case you hadn't tried yet lol

Kiefer Sutherland did a good job but it was a big PR and fanbase mistake that got overshadowed by how hard Konami screwed with the project as a whole

Like for as little as Sutherland spoke in the game, his voice is now as synonymous with Big Boss to me as Hayter is for Solid Snake

P5R is a ripoff imo still, I'm not buying an entirely new version with only a tiny bit of DLC added & changes to one palace, plus Kasumi who barely has presence just so I can redo 120+ hours of a game for 10% new content.

I played the original up to Futaba's palace before I lost my save and then P5R came out on PC so I played that. Maybe it's not worth it if you've already played the original (but let's be real, none of definitive Persona releases are worth it in that sense), but it's by far the best new content of any Persona re-release. The Royal chapter outright bumps the game up a letter grade

It's a faaaaaaaake

But where's the harm in that?!

The things I like about cats are their fierce independence and near-perfect design as predators. I prefer them to dogs because they aren't all needy.

It makes me sad to see them reduced to a floppy ball of docile fluff to provide emotional support for humans.

Socialized cats aren't necessarily needy or docile, they have a wide range of personalities and typically are very assertive about when they want to hang out or be left alone.

We had cats when I was a kid. Outdoor cats. They do everything on their own terms. They learn to show behaviours that humans term 'affectionate' when they are hungry, or want somewhere warm to sit.

That's basically a wild animal. Meanwhile wild dogs go around grabbing the food out of people's hands. We don't see as many such dogs around because enough of a problem to capture or kill. But I've lived in rural Indiana and they exist

That's funny because I feel a similar way about dog owners. Dog owners treat their dogs like a toy, showing off their functions like "sit", "roll over", "give paw". Forcing them to sit still while you balance a piece of food on their snout for your amusement. Teaching them that following your commands gets them food and then stop giving them the food once they learn that.

Cats are just companions in your living space that vibe with you.

Well that's what I mean honestly... however they construct social links next time, the gameplay should not be about minding what you want to say to progress the link, you should be able to authentically navigate the conversation without worrying about penalties that translate to limiting your potential in dungeons. Like, I think social links need a top to bottom rework...

I understand the Hawaii stuff is worse in the original but what upset me most about the trip in Royal is that the gang promises to buy Morgana a present since he's stuck at home and then they totally forget about it (and I don't think the gang ever realizes they flaked). I know a lot of people don't like Morgana and the whole Okumura arc is rushed but that did genuinely make me sad for him

Confidants need a revamp in the next game so it's not about sociopathically choosing the optimal dialogue response to make people like you better.

It actually is a very informative argument to understand why there's a lot more interest and discussion in one when one is significantly easier to access than the other.

Even when scratching the surface, when you start a manga you go to chaper 1 and read until it's done. Death Note, HxH, Jojo, etc, there's no crossing over stuff.

For comics, DC and Marvel canon is a mess and you're sort of expected to have at least a passing familiarity with most of the universe already because sometimes the whole conceit of a character's portrayal in a run is "check it out, they're different from before!"

Yes, there's standalone western comics outside of this bubble, but let's be real, like 99% of discussion online is happening around these superhero comics, just like most manga discussion is around Weekly Shonen Jump.

Pretty sure a "Brilliant" move requires that you be in a position where all of the moves, except one, would result a worse position. Therefore the computer will consider you finding that lone move to be "Brilliant".

The thing is there's innumerable situations where this is the case in chess but the solution is trivially true, and chess.com doesn't award a brilliancy for it.

It's pretty cool though. I don't know that the formula for giving a 'brilliancy' rating has ever been public but from what I've read the belief is that the move is better than the computer can find from a limited depth of analysis. Generally brilliancies are either odd-looking sacrifices or prophylactic moves (such as the King) that cut off the opponent's options several moves later. They generally seem to happen from the idea "if you see a good move, look for a better one", you don't get a brilliancy from capitalizing on a game-changing mistake but more like converting a good situation into winning.
