Batman is in DC comics which has stuff like speed force. Entropy is not a danger in these because the characters can create energy so thermodynamics doesnt hold.

The movie series is better.

I've actually seen 3 or 4 of them. I was pretty young when my sister showed me the first and it really scared me, I thought zombies were around every corner of my house. Now though, man, some of the stupidest movies ever made lmao. Several scenes stick out in my mind vividly to this day because they're just that impressively dumb.

A laser room that cuts you up that starts with just one laser then has it move then finally just makes 100 to kill you. Why the fuck not just have the 100 in the first place if it's meant to be a kill room? You're just wasting laser energy.

The second movie has some dumb action but I remember it the least. Lots of zombie movies focus on the post-apoc but Racoon City is right there in the start which is pretty cool.

I think it's the third movie where the 't virus' spreads over the whole world and like everything is a desert. This is the absolute dumbest scene I remember. They're all on this stripped up bus but zombie birds came out so they're all being completely quiet. And then a kid drops a fucking Pepsi can or something (I'm 99% sure it was really the brand) and they all go apeshit and peck them apart. Pepsi really got their money's worth having their brand associated with the mauling of children

to sum it up 64 is designed like a playground while Galaxy is a series of obstacle courses

Odyssey does try to be a playground again but you can tell the level designers can't let go of their obstacle courses and at many times the game just feels like a series of obstacle courses stapled together at the seams with the hopes it will make a good playground, of course a few obstacle courses are fine as 64 had some as sub-levels and the Bowser stages were essentially that and many playgrounds have some obstacle-course like parts, but it's a lot more than just a bit in Odyssey

also for all the talk of freedom I'm still waiting for a open 3D Mario with the classic power-up approach of the 2D games rather than the timer bullshit of 64/Galaxy or Odyssey's new issue of captures being area specific and completely changing Mario's moveset rather than expanding on it

I don't understand this criticism. Besides 100 coin challenge, you very often have to do objectives linearly in Mario 64. You can't open cannons to do many things or find red coins until you beat King Bob-Omb. You can't do that in Thwomp Fortress until you climb the Fortress and beat Thwomp King (and even then the next star after that is the same level but an extra cylinder to climb up atop the fortress). I don't see how this is different than Odyssey giving you some traditional platforming at the intro of a kingdom and then giving you the rest to explore afterwards. In fact Odyssey seems far more like a playground to me than 64. I feel like people act as though level design didn't even exist in the series prior to Galaxy because of how linear the game is.

Holy shit. It looks like he actually farmed coins for hours in Sand Kingdom early in the and bought like 60 moons (which would be 60k coins) to get footage of going from 19 to 80 moons early on as proof that the game is therefore too easy??

"Mushroom Kingdom isn't a fucking gauntlet so the game sucks"

I think he just hates fun at this point. If he can't even just enjoy a level that's purpose is largely a fun nostalgia romp then I feel like he set himself against the game long ago and is nitpicking.

Like, he complains about ground-pounding tiles inside the castle must be a tutorial to do the move and notice things about the environment and then is like "GOTCHA it's post-game content look how stupid it is because Toadette isn't shooting a fucking Uzi at you." It's a fun little thing to get a Moon dude.

And then there's just this thing he keeps implying over and over in this video that games have to have this linear increasing difficulty any variance in that is unacceptable. He acknowledges that Mushroom Kingdom is placed all the way to the left since it's "home" and is not meant to be dangerous. But you get to play it as post game content so that means that if it's not ball bustingly difficult then it's not even worth spitting at. Meanwhile earlier he mentions Dark Side as challenging post game content but uses it as an example that "well this one isn't a giant hub so Odyssey isn't even an exploration game, WOOOW"

Okay so 30 minutes into the video he has acknowledged that Odyssey is also meant for new fans and kids and not 40 year old grizzled platforming veterans. And he explicitly says that the game is only not a masterpiece if you don't like that fact.

:/

I should just turn off the video now.

I guess I just am riled up because of his inflammatory title. I am surprised he has such an audience though. In this video at least I don't feel like he is showing off very strong critical analysis skills. He frames the simple names of kingdoms as though this means Nintendo has run out of creativity, nevermind all the new NPC types introduced and areas like Tostarena. It's stuff like that that gets me all upset about him.

Oh yeah toadette was dumb. You get them all just by playing the game.

Anderson: "There have been sand levels in Mario before so Sand Kingdom must not have any creativity in it"

What the fuck?

"Ruined Kingdom feels like cut content"
I'm surprised he's this mad about it when he apparently jerks off Dark Souls in all his videos including this one. It's a little love letter to dark souls. And there's like three extra areas you can go to since the level even has a moon rock for extra Moons, but he says that the ride up is the whole thing, making me almost think he hasn't ever played the game to real completion.

Here's the thing about the 'game is padded' stuff. Yes there's a lot of Goombette challenges, for example, but Odyssey forces you to solve them in a creative way. The first time you meet her you're just packing a Goomba over successfully to get a moon. Fair enough. Then you need to collect goombas and elevate. And after that you need to manage sometimes really tight jumps to say avoid water and successfully make it to her. I understand why people may prefer to just not have the multiple moons but it's not like they copy pasted her into eight levels and you do the exact same thing. There's problem solving involved.

The most obvious padding to me is the Lakitu segments, like they coded him in and made the minigame and were like "it was not worth that effort for just one moon" but he doesn't do much interesting stuff.

People also accuse the rock Moons and ground pound moons but I don't see the issue with them. The point of them is for you to explore the area and the point of exploring the area is that they're out there. I get that they're easy and people say that it devalues more challenging moons, and I understand that opinion, but I really see that as a matter of taste. Tiered moons is brought up but if you had moons in ground pound areas and you just got a really shitty tier 6 moon or whatever I think that'd be even more boring/lame then having moons be the same.

One might say 'just remove them then' but the point of Odyssey is that there's a lot. You find like 30 moons to power up the ship per level. If you put a big cut into the amount of moons in the game, say to the standard 120 or even 240 or 500, then you'd throw off the balance that the game achieves with its progression system. What would happen is that either you'd drain up the whole kingdom just to power up the ship or it'd just be another Galaxy. Part of the point of Odyssey is that the levels are really big, they're bigger than anything in 64.

I also feel like it's easier for people to accuse Odyssey of having fluff, as though the previous games are free of that sin. It's easier because you see 880 moons in the game and say "well no fucking way are they are won with great platforming challenges." Well, none of the previous games were that way either. How many levels in Galaxy 2 are just 'here's the little level you just played, now do it again but touch the five silver stars.' How many levels in Sunshine are just 'touch the 8 red coins either scattered about or within this tiny area of the map' or 'shoot black mario with the water hehe' half of them because the game is a rushjob. 64 explicitly has an 8 red coin challenge and a 100 coin challenge in every single level of the game to encourage exploring the whole area. What's the difference between that and scattering moons about to fuel up your ship or reach Dark Side?

Another thing he mentions is that he feels that Odyssey has the best movement system but it doesn't utilize it because Cappy jump is so good. On one hand I see what he means, it is not an invalid point or anything. But the normal movement system isn't really the focus of the game. Cappy and captures is. Mario 64 gets the most out of Mario's ability to long jump and wall jump and stuff. Those are his strongest moves in that game. But they've already done most of the cool ideas with it. That's why Sunshine iterated with FLUDD and Galaxy with gravity. Mario has already explored basic movement in the 3D realm, so a Big Boy new 3D Mario game only comes out when they have a big idea to iterate on it. As he talks it keeps feeling like he just wants Super Mario 65 and is holding it against Odyssey for not being that.

"Odyssey has more in common with Galaxy and 3D World than I was expecting"

Haven't watched beyond this yet but this guy is off his rocker imo. When I played Odyssey I thought it was super jarring at first because Galaxy and G2 (and 3d land) were my only experiences with 3D Mario (I'm 17, I've gone back and played 64 and Sunshine now). And Odyssey is nothing at all like Galaxy, in fact it is the absolute furthest game from Galaxy in the series, yes further than 64. Watching further...

"I played Odyssey twice and I played wrong both times. Nintendo said it was a successor to 64 so I tried to do long jumps and back flips and never really tried to utilize the advanced cappy mechanics."

Aaaand I was right, this guy has something wrong up there. I dunno how you see that you can jump off your own hat in midair and not want to master that shit. Odyssey is built around Cappy to the point that you can skip like 1/3 of a kingdom in the 'story' part of the game if you flawlessly execute a big cappy combo and Cappy will actually acknowledge that you basically broke the game with a text blurb.

It's like saying "Pokemon White is no masterpiece because I heard them say "catch em all" in the anime so I spent the whole game catching every Pokemon in the grass no matter how many I already had and that really dampened the experience."

Many cards like Paladin of White Dragon were probably 'real' ie the Egyptians harvested them first and the card was probably already printed before Kaiba became obsessed with a card game for children

100% non-Egyptian stuff only comes late DM/pre-GX. When Pegasus runs out of material, he is forced to hire actual card designers, like Aster Phoenix's dad and Chuffley.

5Ds: A dystopian future where children's card game generates power for the world's cities like wtf. I dunno where this one is in relation to the original but there is a neo-domino city. I just don't remember if Pegasus' corp is still in control of Duel Monsters. That nuance is important because

Arc-V: All kinds of people are printing valid Duel Monster cards like Reiji Akaba's corp

VRAINS: Most people just use digital cards and fucking conjure them from the ether all the time. Not as in pull what they have from hammer space but as in reach into fucking energy storms and yank em out
