The really crazy part is after each of the last two elections, they've had Republican strategists on cable news saying straight up that they as a party are getting killed on abortion yet learning all the wrong lessons.
Bingo. Believe it or not, the internal GOP strategists are generally smart people. They are there to stratagize. And they must be about to call it quits, because no one seems to be heeding their advice. The Blue Wave has turned into a Tsunami after Roe fell, and THEY KNOW IT. And yet, they are doubling down instead.

It's natural selection, and they are killing themselves.

Technically speaking eugenics only applies to humans. With other animals it's not considered eugenics but rather selective breeding.

In practice it's pretty much the exact same thing, the only reason we have a different word for it with humans is because people like to think we aren't animals.
This is true, but this topic has a lot of pearl clutching over the term. But yes, it is just selective breeding, and yes, it's how like 99% of all dog breeds came to be.

Whether they've been swing states in the past or not doesn't mean they aren't currently swing states. I wish I shared your optimism about them being "easy blue" this year...
That's what the term means, though: you have to have a voting history to determine if a state swings or not. NM and CO and OH are good examples of ones that were, but are no longer. It's pretty clear from past and current history that WI isn't a true swing state, and what happened in 2016 was an anomaly. That, and now that the gerrymandering has been broken in the state, it's about to experience a hard shift left internally that will affect it for years to come.

I wouldn't even call AZ and GA swing states this year..."battleground", maybe, since them going blue in 2020 was a surprise, and it's unclear if this is a culture shift, or just a reaction to Trump. With yesterday's awful abortion ruling, it feels safer Blue this year, at least.

Ya know, you would think Republicans were learn, especially since they saw all the other states try to ban abortion and the reactions from it.
Remember after Obama won his 2nd term, and the GOP did an internal investigation on why the public doesn't like them? And the report came back saying people view the GOP as only for rich, old white men that are out of touch with the public?

They saw that and said "m'kay", and proceeded to nominate Trump, the epitome of an old, rich white guy out of touch with, well, everything?

They are literally incapable of learning. Even when they try, they just can't. And the Right has been taking repeated L's in every election since Roe fell, and they still don't learn. They will die on the hill, and I say "good." Let's keep AZ blue.

No, really, laws before a state was even a state should be null and void outright. Abortion was literally psuedo-medicine when this law was may that had a high chance of killing or injuring the woman.

The Chief Justice and the Vice Chief Justice dissented, interestingly enough. Or not, when you recall AZ recently expanded and packed their SC with Right-wing stooges.

there have been 28 humans killed by mountain lions since the 1850s

contrast that with pit bulls, who killed 300 humans between 2005 and 2017

meaning, PER YEAR, pit bulls kill the same number of humans that mountain lions (again, need a permit), have killed in over 170 years.

this aggression will not stand, man.
Not disagreeing with the sentiment about the dangers of pitbulls (or potential danger), but this is bad statistics. You'd have to calculate it on a death-to-encounter ratio, in which case it'd make the mountain lion number skyrocket, since encounters with them and humans are rare, while humans to pitbulls are extremely common.

Biden actually could stop gifts of cash and weapons to the Israeli government with a wave of his hand. That's a thing he has the power to do as president. You may think he shouldn't do it (which is a fucking weird opinion in itself - especially given that doing it would help him get reelected, keep Trump out and preserve some hope of restoring abortion rights, which I think is kind of important - but you're entitled to weird opinions), but you can't get away with pretending he can't.

No, it completely depends on what type of "gifts of cash and weapons" you are talking about. And I'm not sure where the idea comes that I think he shouldn't try or not do more. But it is far from that simple or easy, and depends on what type of deal and supplies are made, what the agreements are or were, etc.

Polls have shown to be worthless for about a decade now, in part due to the bizarre affect Trump has, and the trouble pollsters have had in trying to contact people in the non-traditional landline way.

That said, no way in hell Gen Z/youth vote breaks for Trump - all measurements show them to be wildly liberally in basically every aspect. If a poll is saying otherwise, it's because the pollster's method of contact is using some narrow method of outreach that only conservative youths respond to.

Ironically, this means the boomer news might actually be more accurate, seeing as how they DO tend to still use landlines/answer random hone calls and take the time to talk to pollsters.

And yet, the Right still can't just say it out loud. They will go after and project onto drag shows, because in their worldview, the Church is right and good, and drag shows are a corruption and go against the grain.
