Whoa, could the elderly voting bloc traditionally dedicated to the GOP finally be realizing that the GOP wants them dead and uncared for, after all these years of that party making it super obvious?

Well, the brazenness Trump has given the party to be so openly vile has shifted from the past where they at least attempted to be subtle about it, I suppose.

Ultimately though, I don't put any stock into this until I see actual vote results.

Honestly, my guess is that it has nothing to do with that. Boomers are supremely preoccupied with concepts such as decentness and carrying yourself with dignity, so maybe it's just that Trump is an incredibly embarrassing and uncouth man but Biden is a basically decently presented one.

I honestly would not be surprised if it's no more deep than that.

On his rise to power, all the conversation around Boris Johnson was around how much of a buffoon or how funny he was, and not really about his actual policies or positions.

Somewhat true, there is a hardcore conservative faction in the cohort. Basically among them and the younger millennials who form the nat soc movement and are drip feeding to conservative media and boomerbook.

I don't believe for a second that Trump is going to carry the youth vote.

They should point out the zoomer conservatives are (probably) more male leaning, due to the "Manosphere" douchebags like Fresh n Fit and Andrew Tate. Along with the influence of Adin Ross as well.

Even though they kinda have fallen off, they still certainly have impacted a lot of that crowd and it's orbiters in recent years, giving them a strong conservative bias.

They are missing one I've heard I'm sure has changed. I always heard people who join the military start to lean conservative if they wherent already so before hand.

I'm almost certainly the exception here, but being in the Army for over a decade has not made me any more conservative.

Hell, honestly, the lifestyle is pretty not conservative in execution nowadays. Free healthcare, housing free or paid for/subsidized, free or subsidized food, government telling you how to live your life. <_<

Though realistically, they don't want the government telling them how to live their lives. They want the government to tell others how to live their lives.

This k guy who told me it came from seeing how other countries operated particularly particularly the bad ones.

Also haven't seen a vet ever have anything nice to say about the Healthcare.

Hell my father was livid with them. The forced him to have his wisdom teeth pulled. And he had had a gap in his front teeth that the wisdom teeth corrected but after they got yanked it came back.

Could be why they hate the idea of free health care. They fear it will be like that.

Also made me think in the prison I was alarmed how many vets where child molesters. I woulda thought a former military man would have more discipline to do something like that but i wonder if being exposed to cultures that allow it warped the perception of it.

Idk how recent your experience is/how old those vets were, but a lot of hazing (unit initiation rites) and abuse in the military in history could be sexual (molestation, sexually charged verbal abuse, penetration with objects, or straight up sexual assault/rape) and it could be that as a result of being traumatized and feeling powerless, they took it out on someone who couldn't fight back against them.

None of it excuses any of their actions, mind you, but there's likely a common reasoning/experience tying that population together.

Though there is also just the common abuse of trust/position of power.

I would say he wasn't like that but he did date a 14 year old in his 20s. He swears he didnt know until after she got pregnant. He was a radio dj and had girls throwing themselves at him apparently.

He's a fucked up dude in a lot of respects but I'll at least give him he fought hard and won rights to custody of the kids cause the mother was a really bad drug addict and got into multiple wrecks with the kids in the car. But he wasn't a great father either. Made sure they where fed and had clothes on their backs but not much else.

Polls have shown to be worthless for about a decade now, in part due to the bizarre affect Trump has, and the trouble pollsters have had in trying to contact people in the non-traditional landline way.

That said, no way in hell Gen Z/youth vote breaks for Trump - all measurements show them to be wildly liberally in basically every aspect. If a poll is saying otherwise, it's because the pollster's method of contact is using some narrow method of outreach that only conservative youths respond to.

Ironically, this means the boomer news might actually be more accurate, seeing as how they DO tend to still use landlines/answer random hone calls and take the time to talk to pollsters.
