Not worried. Polls this far out are always way off, and polling in general isn't very trustworthy anymore. The idea of Trump not being in a jail/being able to run is also silly (he will be for either or both), as is the idea of him suddenly being more popular now after losing hard the first time. And the Blue Wave hasn't stopped since it began. Then you still have Trump himself and others in the GOP saying to not even vote, bleed over from distrust if the SC, Speaker fuckery, etc. Like, everything is hard stacked against the GOP. Energy and motivation had to be way down. Especially Roe still being relevant.

But hey, if it scares people into not getting complacent, that's fine by me.

Hell, the 3rd party library was great - small, but virtually every console exclusive was gold. ToS was one of (still is) best JRPGs around. The Capcom 5 deal gave it Okami, RE4, Killer 7, and Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 ( and it took years for any of these to come to the PS2). Baiten Kaitos 1 & 2, Star Wars Rougue Leader, and more I'm forgetting.

The GCN controller is still probably the best controller made, with it's unique button mapping making it super easy to recall button configurations. It was super powerful, too - only Halo 2 came close to matching how good Metroid Prime and RE4 looked.

It's biggest "failure" was not playing DVDs, which is the entire reason the PS2 got such a footing. But it had terrific games. This would basically continue foenthe Wii, which kept a strong library, got more game support, and ironically pulled a PS2 by gaining a lot of shovelware due to popularity.

So that explains why the capitol police were so hesitant to use guns that day... Since it was a crowd of people they were defending against, they weren't allowed to shoot.
In theory it makes sense. It was a dumb limiter in this case, since the mob was one big organism, so there was no need to worry if who you were shooting at "deserved it" more or less than the guy next to your target. It also telegraphs if any group is big enough, the police are powerless.

Another reminder of how otherwordly soft Trump is being treated. I've lost count of how many warning and lines he's told to cross, he does so anyways, and gets a stern finger waggle, if that. Any normal person would have been sealed away for good with even 1 infraction. It really is exposing our two-tiered justice system.

Could be for food, gas, utilities, all sorts of things. I'd imagine that would be less efficient anyways, due to how food is shipped. Robbing a truck that is 90% full of, let's say, grapes, is food, yes...but now you're stuck with a shit load of grapes and nothing else.

Much easier to turn around and sell something like cigarettes, and then get the food/gas/whatever you really need.

There's no proof it has, and what little we have suggests BG3 isn't anywhere close.

Stats for either game are murky right now. There have been no official figures for TotK since June 30, a little over a month after the game came out, which cites the 15.5M sale mark (which is insane to do that in weeks). So we don't have sales data for 4 months since then, meaning it surpassing the 20M mark wouldn't be out of the question. Apparently, it's credited for moving 4M Switch units after it came out, which is nuts for a system 6.5 years old.

Meanwhile, the closest thing to "for sure" sales of BG3 is just over the 5M mark, on the PC. 1 tracker is suggesting it could as high as 20 million, and a few others are saying around 10M. No real figures for the PS5 can be found, but if the last official stat for the PC is 5M, it's not hard to imagine the PS5 sales being pedestrian in comparison.

So no, it doesn't appear BG3 has surpassed, or is even really close to TotK sales. Not really surprising, given the relatively unknown nature of the game until it dropped and hype helped boost it.

Because you've been conditioned to thank theft=bad, context be damned. One would assume you'll mature out of that basic and primitive opinion with more world experience.

And if you bothered to watch the video the topic is about, the thieves are in no hurry, casually and methodically loading the cigarettes into the car. They could have done this with alcohol.

The idea that they are are such boozehounds to commit blatant theft, and not rob the thing they supposedly want directly (alcohol) is stupid. And naive to not realize they are committing theft for economic means.

Hell, why not just assume they are addicted to smoking and will keeps.the cigarettes for themselves? At least that's logically constant.

"This is enjoyable for people who enjoy this sort of thing", which is nothing more than a meaningless tautology.
Yes and no. That still means how well a film did and presenting it's subject matter should be weighted on those merits alone. Otherwise, any singularly standard gatekeeps everything else to a single standard. Which is the sin of "professional" reviewers, since they tend to hold every film made to Oscar bait or Scorsese type film standards to get close to 10/10 scores. Which means your Avengers, Hangovers, John Wicks, etc. never stand fair chances. Reviewing a film on "how well does it achieve what it's trying to do" tends be a more fair measuring stick.

ParanoidObsessive posted...
Second, even beyond that you get people who have a tendency to not really qualify reviews, so you get people who will give 10/10 to any movie they enjoy and 1/10 to any movie they dislike, which skews any potential review score. You lost any real sense of quality when you're scoring almost entirely pass/fail. Was it a good movie with flaws? A movie that was mostly mediocre but not bad enough to call bad? Was it a masterpiece that will never be surpassed? If your score system is only yes/no, then all of those movies are classified as being exactly the same value.
Oh, absolutely, and I don't trust people who swear by user reviews, because your average consumers is way too stupid to review correctly. "The meal was perfe t, but my water was refilled 4 times and not 5, so 2/10" is way too prevalent, in addition to the pass/fail you mentioned.

And of course, the other side of the coin is professional reviewers gatekeepers, or being bought and paid, like RT. Basically, reviews of any and all kind tend to be shit.

And agreed that there's an average problem, where 7/10 indeed tends to mean average, but others call that 5/10. And then using a 5 point scaleq equate that poorly too often with a 10 point scale.

ParanoidObsessive posted...
(Even beyond all that, there's the problem of personal preference. If you and I watch the greatest horror movie of all time but I give it a 1/10 because I don't like horror movies in general, my opinion probably isn't going to be all that meaningful. But it will still be counted just as equally as yours if the two of us rate the movie on a voting site.)
Indeed. Kinda what I said earlier, to be a "good reviewer", one should be open to reviewers on the subject's own merit. Like, I don't care about sports video games, so no one should ask my opinion on reviewing one, even if I tried to be objective.

This also ends up being a problem with taking opinions on if a game or w/e is good or not from people like Yahtzee, who flat-out admit they dislike basically half the game genres from the outright.

No, removing the policies is a huge liability issue, on top of the fact that no minimum wage cash register person is risking their lives for their corporate overlords. Many places have hired guards, though - pretty much every Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and even a few Walgreens and the like have private security. But you can't have that area.

That isn't the ROOT of the problem, though- economic and societal inequality is. Fix that, and you've fixed the problem. The very stores people tend to rob like this are the ones who have a large amount of their work force on government assistance, because the pay is too shit. Which is also why no one cares much about it happening, and it becoming so common. It's basically Robin Hoods everywhere.

Yeah, likely because it just isn't super well known or cared about these days. And while the subject matter is taboo, it's probably a pretty realistic look at what WOULD happen if two young cousins were shipped wrecked on an island for a decade. Remember, they were 9 and 7 at the time, in the late Victorian period, where dating your cousin wasn't that unusual. But being that young and without adults around to drill societal norms into them, it isn't that surprising they fall for each other. Remove the "cousins" part and no one blinks an eye (aside from the depiction of minors nude).

The reality is, shop lifting and theft like this are up *everywhere*. It's a clear sign that society has grown tired of the income equality and are just taking what they want. That, and since virtually all stores enforce a No Confrontation policy when it comes to stuff like this, people have figured they can do this with no consequences. The police in most areas certainly can't keep up.

Gotta fix the issue at it's root, which of course won't happen.

ToTK was practically done the moment BG 3 dropped.
This is a bad take.

TotK doesnt deserve to even be compared to BG3.
Indeed, TotK doesn't crash or glitch out.

Im pro responsible gun ownership as well but I dont think assault rifles are the issue here. If they were the Czech Republic (Only other country with US style gun laws) would have mass shootings all the time.
Not even close. The access to guns, gun culture, and piss-poor governmental oversight has no other comparison in the world. It's also not mental health, which is a red herring...it CAN be, but even in mass shootings, is often not the case.

Everything that is not a mass shooting is domestic violence, gang shootings, etc. (excluding suicides). Virtually all these people would pass a mental health background check easily.

It's the guns and the culture around them here. it's always the guns. The horrifically stupid notion that they are needed for "self-defense" (most countries require a reason to buy a gun, and self-defense is not a permissable reason).

How the hell does this dude not have the FBI raining down on him? So many red flags and this couldve been stopped. Smh

Republicans have essentially made real gun enforcement in this country non-existent to toothless.

The dude basically matched the annual homicide rate in Maine in one fell swoop.

Dunno what else to say. Regulate guns. Restrict guns. Ban guns. Only answer, always.
