There is a Homeland security memo wondering whether their guys could benefit from training for crowd control and mass demonstrations.

My first reaction was that it is a twist of the screw that Homeland Security sends out operatives without training but on second thought I recalled footage of the Chicago Democratic convention of 1968 which shows a crowd of college age middle-class white kids standing there and getting bashed in the face so maybe no big deal.

Hospitalizations seem to have plateaued too which wouldn't be explained by the inability to keep up with testing. So that gives me a little bit of hope. Mask wearing has increased a ton since they were mandated a few weeks back, so that may have helped.

Do hospitals wait for the tests to come back before admitting?

Coronavirus immunity wears off after 3-6 months.

That is enough time for hospitals to sort out the spike. There is no way anyone in the city can avoid catching it once the schools open. Maybe if you live in a single family building without kids and fence in your yard you can avoid catching it.

I live in Chicago, Illinois. Once the schools open it will take about 3 weeks for the spike. There are loads of analyses now of kids and covid. I posted the links on the coronavirus topic but you can just google.

I figure one week for the kids to all catch it. Two weeks for the kids to all spread it. Medical care will not be available anywhere.

Summary of analysis. Kids are less likely to catch coronavirus and way less likely to suffer from it. Their viral load is slightly less (guessing smaller throat = a little less virus) but not significantly less. Even with windows open, fans running and masks on ... And we all know that the masks are not going to stay on.

Also going on a honor system, in that students are trusted to travel only from the dorms to campus for 14 days.

Knowledge that helps you survive is self-learned. You do acquire a set from formal education which helps you learn but you never learn that people fought for years to end child labor in this country, that public education was not spontaneously provided and that slavery was not ended by law until doing so was a tactic to weaken the South. (I thought the Civil War was fought over ending slavery when I was a kid).

Systemic racism is hard to picture so I thought of some easy exercises.

List what really sucks about your life.

List stuff you have heard or read about that is really wrong.

List stuff you have seen first hand which is really wrong.

List some ways of fixing the problems.

Systemic racism is what stabilizes our economy and makes it works. All of the stuff above and the possible solutions which never get implemented? Without systemic racism you could not maintain our society.
