1. Placement of ingredients.
2. Use of brick cheese instead of mozzarella.
2. Use of blue steel pans to give it its characteristic crispiness on the edges.

St Louis style is ubiquitous in the Midwest. Its cracker thin crust made without yeast. Ive had it in Des Moines in several places.

I agree. But i grew up in the D so maybe its a little biased.

When i think Detroit style, its a distinct deep dish delivery style pizza. With a thick and crispy garlic flavored crust and a good balance of cheese and toppings with light sauce.

Not nasty like a chicago sauce bowl or think and greasy like a floppy new york slice.

It's a braided crust that's thick and packed with flavor. It's size is designed to support the overall size of the pizza and the large number of ingredients used. I like to use the crust with various sauces to dip in to make it more enjoyable.

The look of it doesn't matter to me. The taste and texture of it does. And boy is it amazing.

If you are ever in Colorado, find a Beau Jo's.

Kansas City effectively invented "robot pizza", but St Louis does get "all these squares make a circle".

The original Showbiz Pizza Place was in the Antioch Shopping Center. Somehow, that mall zombied long enough that it was cheaper to re-open it than to tear it down.

Meh. NY style is easily the top dog. And I think Chicago deep dish is legit, but I do like Detroit style too. Its strength is its weakness though - the best pieces are the corner pieces since theyre all crispy but that leaves the inner pieces lacking. While with both NY or Chicago style, youre getting an even experience throughout.
