Starlight Revue outlives another

There was one person here who was having an issue with ImageFAQs, but only when it came to images from that specific image host. I guess that must have been someone else.

Testing a new image host: https://www.imagebam.com/ It's more annoying to use because you have to do a roundabout method to get direct links that would embed with ImageFAQs (you have to open the link it gives you that isn't a direct link, then right click the image and select "open image in new tab" to get the direct link) so I'd probably only use it for image batches in this topic and not for general posting in other topics.

I suppose that's a more positive way to look at it. But I'd rather they both make it, both win their first round games, and meet in the second round instead.

There's no better way for Belichick to go out than an embarrassing loss to the Jets. At least I have that to enjoy today no matter what else happens.

I would really, really like the Dolphins to win this Sunday night game. Not just to lock up the division, but because if they lose, then my two home teams (Dolphins and Chiefs) meet in the first round and one of them is guaranteed to be going home. But with the injuries they have, I'm not confident it'll happen.

Because I can just build Nemleria on my side account if I want to play it and my main account had gems in the gift box that were about to expire, I decided to blow some of them on the Sky Striker secret pack to see if I could pull any new glossy/royal cards. Sadly, I didn't pull any glossy/royal Sky Striker cards, but I did pull a glossy Geomathmech Final Sigma (which my Swordsoul deck can sometimes summon so I threw it in there) and a second glossy Triple Tactics Thrust.

New selection and secret packs were just officially announced: Superheavy Samurai (which we already knew through a pre-hit on the banlist), Gold Pride, Nemleria, and some Visas stuff in the selection pack, Dinomorphia and Transcendosauros in the secret pack. The only one of these that interests me at all is Nemleria, which won't be a meta threat but might be a fun deck to screw around with in the lower ranks.

After skipping the first two days of the month to let the list of daily missions build up like I usually do, my first duel of the month was very interesting.

I decided to play Marincess to clear the Fusion/Pend/Link summon mission because this deck can link climb easily. I went first, but bricked badly and had to settle for an Aqua Argonaut without Battle Ocean's protection because I had to do the "Coral Anemone revive Splash Mage" route and couldn't make Crystal Heart along the way. Then my opponent did a bunch of Blackwing summons, destroyed my Battle Ocean and then my Aqua Argonaut (after which I used Coral Anemone's effect to get Battle Ocean back from the GY) and did a lot of damage but left me with a little under half my LP left. On the crackback, I got the perfect top-deck in Blue Tang, link-climbed up into a Great Bubble Reef with Battle Ocean's protection active, and swung over their Full Armor Master.

At this point, they had no answers to remove my huge 4000+ ATK tower that was immune to card effects, but that didn't mean they had no chance to win. Great Bubble Reef has a mandatory "each time a monster(s) is banished face-up: this card gains 600 ATK for each, until the end of this turn" effect. My opponent made Black-Winged Assault Dragon, then started scrambling, doing a bunch of summons, and banishing monsters in the process. They were trying to use Assault Dragon's "Each time your opponent activates a monster effect... inflict 700 damage to your opponent." effect to try and burn me to death with my own mandatory effect, and they almost did it, but they lost due to the time limit.

This is probably how Marik felt in that one duel against Joey in the Battle City arc of the original anime, where Joey 100% had him beat if he only had a little more time. My ass was cooked in this duel, but I got saved by the bell. We take those.

Thats a lot of work frankly, and With how easy it is to grind gems having multiple accounts becomes more and meaningless as time passes and youre able to consolidate all the decks you want into a single account.

It's not really that much work for me. I only play long enough each day to complete dailies on both accounts, which is less than an hour a day and sometimes closer to a half an hour if things go well. If I actually wanted to grind to Diamond/Master, I would definitely need to pick one account and stick to it, but I honestly have no reason to.

2024 is a Year of the Dragon on the Chinese zodiac, so I'm already seeing quite a few dragon girls and dragon-themed art popping up... just like bunnies last year, tigers the year before, and cows the year before that.

Hearing you guys talking about getting screwed by bundles or being low on gems always makes me feel reassured in my decision to play on two separate accounts and therefore have two sources of gem income. My main account currently has over 15000 gems and over 1400 UR materials, while my side account has over 11000 gems and and over 1000 UR materials, and I have a total of 25 decks combined between the two.

So yeah, I'm set for a while. I'm just sitting here waiting for Centurion, the second batch of Rescue Ace support, and the Sky Striker alt arts.

Yep, they're definitely backing into the playoffs not looking their best. But once the playoffs start, anything can happen. We saw that in baseball this year when the Rangers looked like crap going into the playoffs but then suddenly caught fire and ended up winning the World Series.

This game has been an absolute nightmare for the Dolphins. Losing by almost 40, multiple injuries to key defensive players, and the possibility of blowing the division title if they lose to the Bills next week. Fucking hell.

Both, I don't play because power gap is strong and I grew up with the anime yet I wanted a usable Yubel fusion card for years so the card wasn't complete dead weight in a hero or neos deck and now thanks to the fusion as well as the spirit of yubel card I have that.

The new Yubel support looks interesting and I might try it when it comes to Master Duel. The fact that it can search Super Polymerization sounds scary.

I've never been one to focus on anime nostalgia when building decks. Even when I played IRL (both as a kid in the very early days and a second stint around 2011-2014) or my short time playing Duel Links, I played the cards and decks that interested me based on their aesthetics and play style. I never cared about Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes, Heroes, Stardust, or any of the major anime archetypes. If I played a card or archetype that was in the anime, it wasn't because of the anime. It was because the card or archetype itself interested me with its aesthetics and/or play style.

That being said, there is one single card that I have nostalgia for and that I would build a deck around if they ever made modern viable support for it, and that's Jinzo. It's gotten later support, but it's too awful to ever make a remotely playable deck around.

To clarify: card of the year for us among cards we used in 2023 or among cards released in 2023? Because my answer is different for both of those.

If we're talking about cards we used in 2023, then I'd definitely say Branded Fusion. It came out in Master Duel in late 2022, but aside from my #1 favorite deck Sky Strikers (but I didn't want to pick from that deck because Engage or Kagari would have definitely been my card of the year for 2022 and I wanted to mix things up) the most fun I had playing in 2023 was with various Branded variants, particularly Branded Tearlaments.

If we're only talking about cards that were released in 2023, then it's a tougher decision for me, but I think I'll go with Tearlaments Kitkallos. I had some fun with her in early 2023's Tear Zero format with multiple Tearlaments decks, and I'm still having a lot of fun her with my aforementioned Branded Tear deck even though I've dismantled all of my other Tear decks. If Master Duel had banned Kitkallos like the TCG/OCG did instead of the left-field Merrli ban, then my Branded Tear deck wouldn't even exist right now because it needs Kitkallos to function. I also really enjoyed Sprights (meaning Spright Elf is a contender), Labrynth (meaning Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle is a contender), Mikanko (meaning Ohime the Manifested Mikanko is a contender), and Vanquish Soul (meaning Vanquish Soul Razen is a contender) this year, plus Triple Tactics Thrust has been a really fun generic option, but I think I'll stick with Kitkallos.

So I've been playing the deck for like a year and a half now, but I just learned a new Sky Striker move that I can't believe I never thought to try before. If you have no monsters on the field, activate Linkage, then chain Widow Anchor to steal the opponent's monster and negate its effect (assuming you have 3+ spells in the GY for the bonus effect to be online), you can then send that stolen monster to the GY for Linkage to summon a Sky Striker Ace link-1, and its effect will still be negated by Widow Anchor when it hits the GY. This move just saved my ass against a Dragon Link deck. After I broke their board but couldn't OTK, they tried rebuilding it with REDMD, but then I thought "wait does this actually work?", tried it, and sure enough, it worked and they surrendered.

Why is VS allowed to keep their cards when they activate effects? Everybody else has to pay a price, these fuckers do this shit for free. How is that fair?

VS is themed around fighting games. Fighting fair is never their strong suit. If you fight fairly you lose, especially if you're just human and your opponent is Caesar Valius.

....now that I think of it, it is unfair. Even Tearlaments have to send (for effect) something to GY.

Think of the reveals as button presses. One button press (revealing a single Dark/Earth/Fire monster) is a basic attack, and multiple button presses (their second effects where they reveal multiple attributes or multiples of one attribute) is a combo string. And their effects that "tag out" monsters by returning one to the hand to summon another are a reference to fighting games that have a similar tag mechanic or that have assist characters.

Also, you have to consider that they have to not use those cards in their hands to have them available to reveal for various VS effects. There are definitely situations where a VS player has to choose between whether to use a handtrap/kaiju from their hand or to keep it in their hand because they need to reveal it for a VS effect, and weighing the opportunity cost of those two options and making the right decision based on the game state is a big part of playing the deck. Comparing it to Tearlaments, which was so braindead to play because every "cost" you paid just triggered another effect 95% of the time anyways, is ridiculous.

That's weird. The images embed fine for me with ImageFAQs, on my computer's Firefox, my phone's mobile Firefox, and my computer's backup browser Opera GX. You may need to check your browser settings, maybe try clearing any cookies related to that site (both the iili.io image host and the freeimage.host uploader site) or clearing your browser's cache. If that doesn't work, try installing Tampermonkey (Greasemonkey isn't recommended) and the ImageFAQs script on a different browser than the one you use right now and see if the same thing happens. If all else fails, you can try asking the person who created the ImageFAQs script about the issue in the topic for it on the Custom GameFAQs Scripts board, though I don't know how much they'd be able to help you given you're only having problems with one website's image URL's.

I just finished checking through all of my decks on both of my accounts. My Floo deck losing 1 copy of Duality and my True Draco deck (which I haven't even used in a while) also losing that copy of Duality as well as Card of Demise are the only hits I took. Everything else I have either was unaffected or benefited.

Louder boo to hitting Fenrir and Birth. Deck's already kinda fragile, it didn't need to be shot in the knee.

I hate seeing Fenrir and Unicorn being generically used in other decks, so I'm glad MD seems to be taking the OCG route and hitting the main deck pieces instead of the TCG route of banning Arise-heart and doing nothing to the main deck pieces.

Kashtira gets hit hard, stun decks get hit hard, Purrely gets hit moderately hard, a pre-emptive hit basically confirms new Superheavy Samurai support is coming in the next pack, Floowandereeze catches yet another stray bullet, and Dragon Link gets hit hard but also benefits from all of the Dragon Rulers being fully unlimited all at once so I guess maybe they come out even. Konami really just said "fuck it, full power Dragon Rulers" and let them all go free.

EDIT: Also, Terrortop at 3 in a format with MX-Saber Invoker legal sounds terrifying.
