He also compares people centuries ago to children, even though he recognizes that slavery still exists to this day. He trots out white supremacist talking points about slavery: "not just black people were enslaved!" "Africans were selling the slaves!!" "anyone who could afford it would own a slave, even black people!!!" and he basically argued that slavery is the nature of humanity, but then somehow he doesn't seem to understand that humans in the past are similar to humans in the present in other ways??

I hate how people immediately jump to blame parents. They forget that children are people with their own free will and are not necessarily predictable. Yes, parents can play a role, but they do not have ultimate control over their children. In terms of keeping tabs on your children, that gets harder and harder when the economy demands both parents work (and for longer and longer hours, too). Combine that with the internet and really the parent spends less time with their children than outside influences.

The Donkey Kong Country series didn't require an add-on chip as elaborate and expensive as the Super FX 2 chip. Additionally, DKC being pre-rendered 3D had it still looking decent compared to next-gen offerings. The Super FX 2 chip couldn't get anywhere close to the next-gen system in real-time 3D capabilities. Star Fox 2 barely even had textured polygons.

I tried an automatic one time and it felt awful and sluggish. I could see the appeal in heavy traffic areas where it's a constant stop/go but anywhere else, manual wins.

If you can't drive manual, ask someone who can to teach you.

Try an electric vehicle. Gas vehicles (manual or automatic) are awful and sluggish by comparison.

And the problem isnt current homeowners. Its corporations that took advantage of low rates to buy up all the property and raise prices. Anyone with sense would recognize that.

Things were crazy *before* covid economy-wise. Interest rates were held near-zero for far too long. It's just that this covid economi is so much more crazy that the prior state seems normal by comparison.

I watched ReBoot and Donkey Kong Country, but I remember seeing the others on TV. I enjoyed Donkey Kong Country, but I absolutely adored ReBoot and it was my favorite show at the time. I was always fascinated with computers, so it taking place in one made it an instant hit with me. It was also a smart move since the visuals and animation can be excused for being inside of a computer rather than any real life setting.

I watched the video posted of Beast Wars and I know it's by the same studio, but I didn't realize how similar even the music sounds to ReBoot.

What's "smart" or "stupid" can change as circumstances change. You could look back on this and see it as smart or you could see the price of your house drop to 25% of its currently price and feel stupid, since even a much greater interest rate results in a smaller payment at that price and you can refinance down (extreme example, but just for illustrative purposes). Ultimately it's too difficult to tell the future, so do your best, hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

The smart strategy would be to buy when interest rates are peaked. That's when house prices will be lowest. You would have to overpay for a few years until interest rates go back down and then refinance. That's how you get the best long term deal.

With as much research I've done I think the amount of drop depends on the market. I think you may see 20% drop in some markets. In others it may be closer to 10%.

Depends on how long high rates last. Low rates are a recent phenomenon, it's not necessarily a guarantee. The key is to make sure your situation is sustainable. Certainly not worth it to gamble on a high rate if you can barely sustain it.

It will depend on your timing, but these crises are mainly just for the rich to scoop up assets on the cheap. You may get a couple droplets, but the vast majority will be screwed as usual.

26 isn't too young to have a kid. The problem is that the economic system we're living with has squeezed the working class so hard that it becomes financially precarious to do it at that time.

I'm confused at the responses in this topic. What's wrong with eating in the parking lot? Also, TC was with a coworker, so bringing that coworker home isn't necessarily an option. How is eating food at the location you bought it at shady? The food is fresher and warmer then.

The only circumstances where 24k is better than 20k is if he's got some technical analysis that tells him a move up to 24k is super bullish indicating it'll continue going up whereas buying at 20k and having it sit there or go down is a worse outcome.

That "technical analysis" would be akin to reading tea leaves. The fundamentals shouldn't change based on the price except for exceptional circumstances (e.g. AMC's stock being short squeezed so hard that they were able to sell shares at inflated prices to improve their financials).

I think it's cool that they made a black Ariel, although from a purely logical standpoint it doesn't make a lot of sense considering the amount of sunlight that reaches that part of the ocean is significantly degraded and wouldn't necessitate melanocytes.
