This is why it's important to consider track record. Peter Schiff supposedly called the 2008 financial crisis, but all he does is shill gold, so basically he's called 20 of the last 2 recessions. Hell, even with a decent track record, a person can be majorly wrong, which I'm sure people bagholding Cathie Wood's funds can tell you.

I only peeked into the ID third gen debuts, but when someone pointed out that Kobo created a website to present on her debut (seems like it's hosted locally on her own machine and not accessible on the internet, though), I immediately jumped in and damn, she has a lot of talents. I'd subscribe, but she mainly speaks Indonesian and since I mainly play videos in the background to listen to during work (and my subscriptions are already filled with English vtubers), I don't feel like adding to my already massive list of subscribed vtubers (in fact, I should probably unsub to some). I've had stomach aches that completely incapacitated me. I could barely move while I laid in bed in extreme pain while at the same time feeling like I had to vomit and shit at the same time but if I tried to do either, nothing would happen.

Ehh, I wouldn't say it's not working. The individual subscription numbers are lower than Hololive, but there are far more members, so I'm not sure about the total subscription numbers. The men of NijiEN are beating the shit out of Holostars which has been around for much longer, and yeah that may just be due to a lack of male presence for HoloEN and the benefit of arriving at a time when vtubers/livers are much more popular, but I wouldn't describe the strategy as not working.

Business-wise it seems to pull in enough money to keep going. For the fans, you get a selection to choose from. You don't have to subscribe to every one of them. Hell, even though Hololive has far fewer members, I don't subscribe to every single one of them. Too many talents is an unavoidable situation given enough time regardless of strategy (unless the plan is to never introduce new talents again). It's not necessarily a quantity over quality sort of deal either, since I see myself tuned into more NijiEN content over HoloEN content these days.
