Ethereum started the merging process the other day. I've never touched crypto and I never will, but I am interested in seeing how this plays out, especially since this means the end of mining for one of the largest cryptos and so hopefully graphics cards continue to drop in prices (they've been dropping quite a bit already).

Python is easy to learn, but you should be warned that it's going to teach you a lot of really terrible habits that don't translate to other programming languages. So by all means learn programming in python, but then for your own good learn good programming practices in c++, and then apply them to python.

C++ isn't better in that regard. If anything, Rust serves that purpose a lot better.
