Do a lot of people care about Super Punch-Out? I always had the impression that the mainstream video game public only cared about the NES game.

Disclaimer: I haven't watched the video yet so I'm hoping that this is addressed within it.

The problem is that he got so big that other similar channels started copying his mannerisms, music, and catchphrases, so now any time you hear them they sound like parody, even coming from the original guy in their original context.

Okay, but now imagine... Bender being downgraded to an occasional side character and when he talks it's not his own voice.

This is literally not worth it if you can't include one of the core characters.

Froslass is always good. Jynx is eternally underrated. Darmanitan is one of the best regional forms. Zen Darmanitan is a completely crazy concept (and props for actually being usable unlike old Zen Mode).

I quite like Gothitelle too (now that I think about it it's probably #2 on this list), but I'm not used to seeing it in direct comparison to Conkeldurr.

Hmm... A very weak selection of NFEs.

Conkeldurr is my favorite Fighting type, no questions. And it's one of the only types for which I can so easily pick a distinct #1 without having to juggle between two or more. Definitely in my top 10 overall.

I'm gonna give this on 10 on the grounds that it's virtually the only game to ever make me care about the plotline as I was playing it.

I don't play a lot of single player games (well, I guess I do now more than I used to), but of those that I play, they're usually the "endless" type, like arcade style, etc. In the cases where I do play progression-based games, I don't care about the story at all. When there's dialogue, or new events happening, I watch it, but it doesn't mean anything to me. I'm in it for the gameplay in between plot points, whether it's the platforming, or the adventuring, or whatnot. Link's Awakening was the first game that made me feel like "wow, I actually care about what the game is telling me". The way that the mystery slowly unravels as you discover new areas, the very oddly behaving characters that make you wonder why they are the way they are, and the "big reveal" 75% of the way through which was more impactful due to the very abrupt way which they present it. The game really did move me.

Even now I don't think that any other game has been able to grip me the way that LA did when I played my first full playthrough. I've gotten engrossed in games for other reasons (Splatoon 2 has really deep lore that's fully unconnected from any of the gameplay or the 1P modes) but this is the only game that was successful in telling me a story that I wanted to hear.

My #1 and 2 are Melee and Brawl. My conservative estimate is >1500 each, but it could easily be 2000-2500 for either or both of them. It's impossible to count due to playing on so many people's different consoles.

My #3, which is the highest game with tracked playtime that I own, is Super Mario Maker, with 1100 hours on my Wii U.

(#4 and 5, which I also have data for, are Splatoon 2 with 1000 and New Pokemon Snap with 900).

I think that people who say "yes I get the design joke but they should have made properly connected fossil Pokemon instead" don't actually get the design joke.

I may or may not have known the actual thing (I'm not sure) but I'm pretty positive that I've never heard the word before.

It would just end with Breath of the Wild beating The Witcher 3 in a popularity contest, Skyrim losing in the semifinals due to recency bias, and Smash Ultimate being the best non-Zelda Nintendo game. Boring, I'm glad that we didn't have a games contest recently.

I think every one of these Pokemon I like better when they evolve.

Hippopotas has a cool cry, and Silicobra is the most interesting of the represented ones in New Pokemon Snap. Other than that they're all "just let me evolve them".

Crustle is the best. Golisopod is really good design. Crawdaunt is very fun to use with its ability. Barbaracle and Clawitzer are solid dex fillers.

Crabominable is possibly the worst case of "ruined concepts via evolution" in the series. Kingler is a typical example of "bland gen 1 design that's basically a regular animal" and I think that people have to be deranged to look at this picture and claim that Kingler is better than every single other thing there.

Even my "start over from scratch after my old account got banned" account is older than some posters on the game boards.

I'm not interested in that style of game, and a game being popular isn't going to sway me into playing it if I wasn't already planning to.

Lilligant is the best Pokemon in the series.

Much like the natural wild Pokemon, the legendaries are better this way that they chose "fitting" ones for every area rather than forcing some arbitrary split based on origin.

I actually like Gossifleur an an unevolved Pokemon, but it completely loses its style when it evolves.

However Petilil is clearly a step ahead in the unevolved group.

Mismagius was (and most likely still is) my favorite gen 4 Pokemon. I fell in love the instant that we got a rip of the party mini-sprites several days before ever seeing the full sized sprites.

Drifblim and Gourgeist are both exceptionally good as well. Cofagrigus, Trevenant, and Polteageist are all very solid with nothing bad to say about them.

I played a 2h15m stream game (400 spaces with 7 players), far longer than I ever find comfortable. However, I did win and get the first achievement (Win a Stream Game with 10+ viewers.) so it's kind of alright. Unfortunately regular achievements were disabled for that game because I missed out on at least 4 situational ones that I could have earned.

Yesterday when the same streamer hosted, we ended up finding and testing a few bugs for the admin, who generously gave the streamer maxed out Twitch powers while allowing achievements to stay on for the duration of the game, which was very cool.

Misdreavus is several tiers above the rest of the group. Must be in my top, like, 20ish maybe. I guess it helps that it was a standalone Pokemon for years before becoming an "unevolved" Pokemon. Though Mismagius is also one of my all time favorite evolved Pokemon.

Almost won a stream game for the Twitchy achievement but got rushed on the last turn by someone saving a Hamburger and another high space food item.

Today is the last day of my vacation (during which I've played BGO more than any of the other games that I was planning on playing this week). During the week I'll likely be playing after 11 PM EST. I think what I'll do it host public games but post them here if they have trouble filling up in the lobby.

I really like Scolipede and Vivillon for different reasons. But in a complete vacuum, I believe I'd rate Scolipede higher of the two.
