This is coincidental timing, because I accidentally listened to a portion of this album like 4 days ago... And this is the week right before the topic that I was actually planning on joining (Powerslave). So I think I'll probably join this one just to get some practice ranking songs (which I am notoriously bad at).

I don't even consider it a good game to begin with. I think that a lot of its release-period praise was based on mechanical advancements within its own series that simply came as a result of 2D->3D transition, which led to an overinflated and overhyped reputation. And in modern times that reputation is self-fulfilling, where people playing it for the first time go into it knowing that it's considered the best and then call it the best because they think that they're "supposed to".

Judging the game in a vacuum personally I find it flawed in many ways.

MrGreenonion's is the line of thinking that I would have used (although I surely would have failed at attempting to articulate the differences between the four like he did). It makes sense since you can easily see how multiple "traditional genres" fit within those 4 styles of play, whereas some of the other answers are just picking 4 of the existing "traditional genres" and trying to reclassify others into those groups. Grouping them by style of play rather than content is like expanding the scope into even more broad generalizations, so it's a better answer.

I'm still a bit confused at what this actually is. The pages are written like they're summaries of real things that have been made. But there's no links or even hints as to where to find the videos. Are they all shared on some underground Pooh community? I wanted to click one just to see how these people were actually making them, but it just sounds like word salad without seeing it firsthand.

To play devil's advocate, this happens a lot in abuse (sexual or physical) cases, where the victim seems ok with it for years, then finally the internal pain gets to them, and they realize they aren't ok with it, and all these years where they told themselves (and possibly even others) it was ok was just a coping mechanism. Even if they publicly embellished it at the time.

I know that this is a real thing that happens, but I don't believe that it applies here. It's not just that he was suffering in silence, or struggling to cope with it the whole time. He actively spent time embracing it and literally building his identity around it.

If this case actually goes anywhere, I believe that he's going to lose and the biggest point against him will be the degree with which he was okay with it for his entire adult life.
