Nah. I just looked at the weather for where its all snowing at there, and honestly, those cats will be fine. It's not getting THAT cold, and cats are good at finding shelter and hunkering down for a couple of days.
A 9 degree wind chill is pretty cold. Idk what temps they can survive in, but that's good to know.

Dammit. I feel two ways about it because living in Louisiana I almost never see snow, and this will break records; the biggest blizzard on record here since 1895. We could get up to eight inches, which is INSANE for Louisiana.

However, this will delay our moving plans by about a week probably. And we won't be able to get food at all until probably Friday.

Crazy.

There's very few filler episodes, so I might not even skip them, plus it should blend in seamlessly with the overall theme of the show.

My friend has been telling me it's really good, and so far it's pretty fun. I can't imagine how a story like this can go on for 300+ episodes, but we'll see! I like the characters so far.

So let's say we meet all the requirements on our apartment application. The situation we are in is that we technically DON'T have the money for the deposit yet; my girlfriend wants to wait to see if we're approved before selling this trailer. But if we don't technically have the money yet but can get it by say, Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. We are currently still in the queue.

So I'm wondering if we're gonna be caught in a weird place where we meet the requirements, but don't get approved because the money isn't literally in our hands at this very moment.

How does this work? Do landlords give you a certain time to move in and pay the rent/deposit or what?

My girlfriend has been collecting from social security since she was 11. She's been working full time for 3 years and they keep "red flagging" her every now and then, as in, sending a letter in the mail to confirm or deny the jobs she's worked since she last updated them.

A quick Google suggests collecting SSI while working is not illegal, but your benefits will be reduced depending on how much you make.

She's been hiding from them and intentionally not updating them because she doesn't want to lose it, which is what I think might be a gray area.

We need this income to get an apartment, and I never know from one month to the next if it's just going to be pulled.

I don't know how things could be looking up but also down at the same time; at the moment, the bad stuff still far outweighs the good. I still do nothing all day but loaf around and worry. I can't even get into a single video game.

We might be moving which is huge, but the process of getting there is proving to be a pain in the ass, and we kinda need out of here by February. First we had to get the title to the trailer to sell it, now we have to find a buyer. And we just applied for the apartments we want yesterday.

Does social security count as a valid source of secondary income? In that case we should easily qualify.

My job prospects down here are almost hopeless. My girlfriend owns the trailer, which is the silver lining here; she does not own the land, but she could still sell the trailer and probably get at least 2k on it, enough for a down payment on an apartment. Plus tax season is coming.

Current situation:

  • No car.
  • No bike or moped or anything like that.
  • Stuck in the middle of nowhere where unemployment rate is high.
  • No one I can think of that would hand us down a car.
  • If I get a job near where we're moving, it's going to be really hard to get to and from work in my current location; first I'll need $57 for a month bus pass, and the commute getting to work will probably be roughly 2 hours just one way. The city busses shut down at 8:20 PM, and Ubering home is simply not an option. I also can't work weekends at all without a car where I currently live. There are bus stops that are walkable, but I have to go through shady neighborhoods to get there, and possibly encounter loose dogs from neighbors who don't know how to keep their pets away from strangers. This has happened to me a few times and I just got lucky I didn't keep getting chased. I'd consider pepper spray. Either way, the bus situation severely limits my availability. Chop off four hours of the day just for the commute; that's four extra hours I can't work, on top of not being able to work past MAYBE 6 PM.

What I really want is to just fuck it and move right away, and use income tax money to keep us steady for the first month until we find something, but my girlfriend would have to quit her job to do that, and she doesn't want to; she is trying to get a store transfer, but there is no telling if it'll ever actually happen, and I've had enough of random shots in the dark. But I know we need to do it. This is a mess though. I'm trying to stay strong but even this plan seems very shaky.

Any advice? Should I try to convince my girlfriend to just quit and move (she gets about 1.2k in social security once a month), or is that a terrible idea? It probably is. =/

I called one recently (in the US) for my gf. They let you to talk on the phone with a therapist, and optionally could send out a crisis team to your location to de-escalate or help figure out a safety plan. They also called the next day to check how things were going, and were able to give me some resources for outpatient psychiatric services. They seemed to genuinely want to help, and did not at all jump to involuntary commitment. I think they would only do something like that if you express actual intent to threaten your own life or others

YMMV with other crisis lines, but I think you should give it a try to see what options are available to you. Good luck
The de escalation and safety plan stuff is actually pretty cool. Okay I think I'll give it a shot as soon as I can.

Yes, they are. I've used one personally when I was thinking of killing myself.

I rang a crisis hotline, explained my situation, and spent a good 3 hours on the phone with someone who calmed me down. I'm at the point now where I can reflect on it and realise it was just a massive bottle-up of emotions.

What I loved more than anything else was the aftercare. I had two ambulances sent over in the following fortnight, and whilst therapy was a given, I was also asked if I wanted to speak to other folks. The idea being, I can cry to someone who's been through it, but I can also speak to someone as I progress through therapy. It's amazing how much helping someone else helps your mental state.

I ended up with about 20 hours of therapy, a handful of ambo visits, and two friends I follow up with.

So yes - I'd say do it. Doesn't cost you a penny, you might make friends with people in similar situations, and for those who love you, there's an ambulance popping by every few weeks. I understand that those that are at higher risk get more frequent visits, but as always, it's free - and somewhere you can unload your thoughts in a safe manner.

I do think that if I hadn't sought help, and the help the NHS gave, I probabaly wouldn't be around much longer.
Don't you live in the UK though?
