aesthetically, size-wise and as a mario level i'm not a huge fan of it

if i wanted a precise, small-environment platformer there are other games for that

tick tock clock is like... the best ramen you could get at a hamburger restaurant. there are actual ramen specialty restaurants that would blow it out of the water

if you are eating at a hamburger place, you're probably best off eating the hamburgers

Wet-dry and tiny-huge are the two i dread most in a playthrough

I kind of liked the first star of tiny huge when i was a kid

Tick-tock is bland as well, but with adult dexterity and an understanding of the clock entrance gimmick it at least ends quickly

I guess I'm glad they put the best stuff in the first 60% of the game

TopicAnyone worked for a startup before?

i've worked for startups my entire career. it's okay. you set your own boundaries. if you show up a little early and leave on time, people will respect that

they might cross their fingers and hope newer workers drink the kool-aid and stay late, but i'm assuming employment is always at-will where you are. worst case scenario, if they start demanding you work late you can just work for a different company. i don't know what role you're being hired for, but startups generally look all right on a resume. startups are typically more vulnerable to having siloed information and needing every single employee.

you can ask what the hours are, and they can lie. i would ask once, and maybe ask about the overall culture as well.

there was a person at a startup i worked for that stayed past 7 every night. then they had this revelation that they wanted to date/have a life, started leaving at 5, and the company has continued to love them forever.

only thing i can think of is if you get roped into dev ops duties- they might want deployments to happen at night, in which case you can negotiate different working hours

the pay is generally less than working for a large company, but theoretically you might believe in the mission more or enjoy the comparative autonomy or higher responsibilities. stuff happens faster at a startup and there's less red tape. if you're young and want a work social life, there will be more young people to hang out.

the exception is if the company and concept is actually mind-blowingly good. the smart move is to repeatedly switch companies and boost your salary until you find one that you know will succeed, and get as much equity as possible

i can't give much advice without knowing your role, my knowledge is fairly specific

I was poor at the time and kind of skipped that generation, at least until very late on

Ps3 was the blu ray player (cheapest, even), had better exclusives, the more powerful hardware, and the free online play

360 had the better social features, larger playerbase, indie marketplace, and (RROD issues aside) smoother OS

It's hard to say one was better, but the ps3 ended up closer to my heart. No desire to dust one off, though.

When i was young, i lost (aka left in the hotel room) a bus ticket going from Michigan back to my home state. My horrible girlfriend at the time was going to be such a pain about it that i just bought another so i wouldn't have to admit that i lost anything, even though i could absolutely have talked my way through the station workers

Definitely my favorite mass serial fiction as a kid. My parents would plop me in the book section while they went grocery shopping or whatever, and animorphs were way better than goosebumps. I never got into writing fan fiction, but that and harry potter were the two that made me consider it

Iirc tobias had the most compelling storyline but they were all solid caricatures.

i read books 1-15 or so, some of the chronicles, and then the final few books.

I don't remember which characters i liked the best. Even the more normal ones were important and believable. Iirc cassie was the actual animal expert, and i had some empathy for boring leader Jake- not everyone gets to be the fun one

Biggest trip was when the publisher held a contest, and the winner got to be inserted as a new animorph. Then, the author turned that character into a villain and for all intents and purposes killed them off.

I still think about "happy meals with extra happy" every once in a while

pretty much everything can be political if you want it to be. "politics" involves pretty much anything that constitutes of humans, their societies, and how they run them

a story about people who withdraw from society inherently poses a societal (and therefore political) question, regardless of what the creator says they intend

but i assume you mean an explicitly 'red team versus blue team' definition of politics- i haven't played it, so don't know if there's any of that in there

If you don't have any friction with your mom, I'd probably stay. Aromance is a financial blessing.

from a purely financial perspective, I would avoid the condo unless you are confident you'll be able to flip it at an insane rate.

Make sure to factor in condo maintenance fees, property repair costs, and other bullshit when doing the math. i have friends with condos and those things add up to another set of rent.

To fairly compare to stocks (and more strategically, a good index fund) you should take all the money you would have spent on the mortgage, fees, repairs, etc and dump them into the stock as well

$1300 per year is a reasonable property tax rate. The 7% annual increase is bullshit though, so you will have to move eventually.

I'm sorry to hear about that

PCOS is a rough diagnosis to be handed. It basically says you're going to have a rough time doing anything related to society's definition of womanhood. I'm sure you've already read up on the symptoms.

I can understand her negative feelings and outlook.

Imagine asking someone whose dog just died: "yeah, but what if we could cast a spell and bring it back to life??" They're in the process of grieving and of course aren't going to respond positively

You should help her find therapy if she's not already going. And you're certainly within your rights to break up and find someone more able to give you children. Ultimately, you should consider whether you value your relationship with her more than your desire to have children, and think about whether you'd hold any resentment over it.

You're in for a rocky couple of months. It sounds like you care a lot, and she's not going to enjoy the feeling of having her buttons pushed in ways that just might convince her to try to have kids again.

In the meantime, focus on your health and support hers

A friend of mine went through a somewhat similar situation with their forever fiancee. They're still together! Luckily, he was fortunate enough to have some nephews to help parent.

I'm sorry you're going through this.
