The only generation Microsoft was ahead of Sony, but the PS3 did catch up at the end though.

360 really brought the world online.

I wasn't into many PS3 exclusives at all (Atelier Rorona and Demon's Souls are probably my top two), while there are a bunch of (timed) exclusives I loved for 360, like the first two Mass Effects and Tales of Vesperia. Plus it was much cheaper. PS3 got better later on (Trails of Cold Steel good times), but having already owned a 360, it was pretty disappointing for me overall. Might even call it the weakest console I've owned.

I doubt I'll ever buy another Microsoft console though.

I had a ton of great memories of playing 360. I think by the time I got the PS3 the only games that really stuck with me was Final Fantasy VII-X.

Games ran better on 360, and it was a much better place for playing online with friends. Also a better interface imo.

The only thing PS3 has going for it in my eyes is the back compat with PS1/2, and that's not enough.

I continue to be mad that I have to use the PS3 to play PS3 games (and PS1 games actually, since the HDMI converter we bought just fails when using PS2's BC mode). And I never liked the 360's interface. It's needlessly complex just to get to your games and there's a whole thing with accounts if you want to play couch co-op. And it always wants you to be online while also not having a wifi adapter on this model. And don't get me started on the Wii menu!

PS3 slightly because of better exclusives but this is the only generation of sony consoles where it is not the outright winner. PS1, 2 and 4 dominates their generation where PS3 barely manages to squeak a win.

PS3 won pretty ridiculously hard on games (only way it could be harder is what we have now where MS doesn't do exclusives at all) but almost everything that was on 360 ran better there. I definitely like 360 more as a piece of hardware and as an ecosystem, but the library can't remotely compare.

That was awesome.

I remember watching movies over Netflix with friends with the watch with a friend feature.

360 was a great console.
Still has not been a better Golf Course maker (or golf game in general) then Avatar Golf.

The 360 started off strong but by the end of the lifecycle I was using my PS3 considerably more.

I was poor at the time and kind of skipped that generation, at least until very late on

Ps3 was the blu ray player (cheapest, even), had better exclusives, the more powerful hardware, and the free online play

360 had the better social features, larger playerbase, indie marketplace, and (RROD issues aside) smoother OS

It's hard to say one was better, but the ps3 ended up closer to my heart. No desire to dust one off, though.

But looking at this in hindsight, there are only maybe a half dozen 360 exclusives that are worth thinking about, whereas the PS3 had at least twenty.

Xbox Live on the 360 literally created modern online console gaming, introduced the concept of indie games to the mainstream, and allowed said indie developers their first way to get games in front of new players.

Kinda surprised the 360 is as close in the poll as it is, but I guess I personally really only think about console comparisons in terms of the library, and I think the PS3 definitely has a big edge there.

People talking about library forget that PS3 only had one in the final two years of its lifespan or so, while 360 had (console-) exclusivity on stuff like BioShock and Mass Effect for the longest time.

I only owned a PS3, and the answer is the 360. Games ran better, the UI was better, the controller was better, the online experience was better, and there was a bigger, broader game library. The PS3 didnt win on games, it won on exclusives that appealed to people who were really into games in the PS1-PS2 generation (not a huge library) and even then a lot of entries for those franchises and genres wound up being disappointing. Also when you factor console and timed exclusivity the 360 comes out on top.

Theres a reason Playstation emulated the 360 for the PS4, and they were hugely successful at it!

1 vs 100, which was an adaptation of a TV game show. I loved playing the game. It was during my college years, so my roommates and I would experience it together.

I completely get liking the 360 better at the time (when Mass Effect, Vesperia, etc. were exclusives), but nearly every great game was ported to the PS3 anyway. If you could only play one of those two now, no one could realistically say they would prefer the 360's library imo.

Everything runs better on the 360 and it has a much better controller, I would absolutely prefer to play on the 360 of the two.

This may be true, but if someone were to tell you that you can only play one system for the rest of your life, would you honestly pick the one with half the library of the other?

Is the PS3's list of exclusives really that good? I guess if you're counting PS1/2, but PS3 alone didn't have much that appealed to me

most of the PS3 stuff is available on PS4, only thing I cared about that's truly exclusive is MGS4

360's only blunder was the hideous pad on the controller. I wanna say some later releases ameliorated that a bit. I had already bought 3rd party pads to fix it.

Much better console though in spite of that. Just better UI, better exclusives, better online, better performance on shared titles. I mean I guess you had to pay for XBL but money well spent.

Nice that it had a much lower catastrophic failure rate than the PS3 until the PS3 slim came around too.

But the PS3 had a bluray player I'll give it that.

ps3 had animegames but 360 had shmups so
