I will say that, conceptually, I really liked 3's approach to a time limit (rather than the hard time limit of 1, you were limited by how much food you could collect, which was a more dynamic system for applying time pressure), but it was so easy to get to a point where you had more juice than you could ever use (excepting that one story event, though that issue quickly goes away) that the concept ultimately felt like a pointless addition. That was disappointing, given what a cool idea it was and how well hunting for food fit into the setting (as opposed to a lot of survival games where it feels tacked on or becomes more of a chore than anything else).

On the bright side, the fact that he resisted arrest/assaulted police means any hesitancy on her part to press charges against him (which she absolutely should do, but that's often not how domestic violence cases go, especially when there are kids involved) won't be enough to keep him out of jail. That should help her recovery a lot because she will have enough space to not be tempted to forgive him.

These are all just smokescreens for the Biden regime to justify a military presence at the US capitol, something that would make most Americans skittish because we've seen what's happened in other nations where things like this were normalized. They kept crying wolf all of these months to keep the national guard there, until politicians rightfully got fed up and demanded that the national guard be removed back in May. Now it seems like the Biden regime is trying to get them back there and keep it going.

So would I be correct to presume that you raised a similar fuss when Trump had the National Guard protecting the Capitol during BLM protests?

"Eating out" isn't inherently more or less healthy than home cooking, so if we're talking strictly in terms of nutrition, there's really no clear answer to this question. If people aren't eating healthily enough, doing more home cooking is often a good way to address that because that gives more knowledge of what goes into the food and therefore offers greater control over their nutrition, but using eating out on its own as a metric for determining how healthy somebody's diet is isn't particularly reasonable.

In a nutshell, what/how much somebody eats is what determines how healthy their diet is, not where they eat. You can make some generalizations (fast food, by and large, is unhealthy and should not make up a significant portion of one's diet), but providing actual useful advice is going to require you to dig a lot deeper than those generalizations.

Economically speaking? Home cooking is better. Full stop. If you're trying to fixed an inflated food budget, one of the first things you should do is cut back on how often you eat out.

It's not strictly necessary, since everyone should know better than to cross those lines, but like most warning signs, it acts as a reminder.

If somebody who is guilty is not found guilty, that is - axiomatically - a failure of the system responsible for finding them guilty. That's the stupidest fucking deranged brainwashed absolute drivel and hogwash I've heard in a long time. I've had a credit card for longer than most of this board's users have been alive and I've never once been "sucked into their system and piled up debt and [interest] payments" and... what, did you say mortgages? This whole fucking thing is a rib, isn't it? Got me there!

I guess it had to been a joke, because nobody would believe that nonsense. A credit card is superior to a debit card by most objective metrics. The two are broadly treated the same by retailers (so credit or debit you face the same penalties when there are penalties) except credit cards have far more perks including a greater number of protections, far less potential for disruption when something goes wrong, rewards of all kinds, etc.

Credit cards are able to offer those benefits because of people that are sucked into their system that rack up interest payments. Certainly, it's not that hard to avoid ever paying interest on credit cards (by basically treating them as a debit card with an extra step and paying down any balance you accumulate before your statement is due), but the entire model is designed to prey on people that lack the impulse control, financial planning ability, or financial stability to stick to that process. If it weren't, it wouldn't be profitable enough to be worth offering the service, let alone offering it with all of the added benefits that you're enjoying.

Zeus posted...
Offhand, I can't remember the last time I've used a debit card to pay for anything because, really, why would I?

I mostly only ever use mine at Costco (because they only accept Mastercard for credit and I only have a Visa) and small businesses. The former because they only accept Mastercard and I only have a Visa, and the latter because credit fees hurt small businesses a lot more than debit fees do, in many cases, and I'd rather give them more support than earn slightly more rewards on a relatively small purchase.

More so than almost any other game I've played, it was just a joy to play, such that getting to play it was all the sense of reward I needed. Some of the purple coin hunting was a bit lame (I broke out a guide to find a few of them, made worse by the fact that they gated that help behind an amiibo), and I was disappointed by the coin grind needed at the very end to truly 100% it by getting all the costumes (it wasn't a bad grind, as grinds go, but it was just so much weaker than the rest of the game that it seemed worse than it was), but I can't think of any other game that has just made me feel so consistently happy from start to finish.

And found that he'd misrepresented the data quite considerably, including rounding to favour his point (not that user-submitted data on a controversial vaccine with tons of misinformation and antipathy surrounding it is particularly meaningful in the first place).

And the worst part? I agree with him, I'm just trying to coax him into actually substantiating his position instead of relying on hunches and vague impressions. Most jurisdictions aren't recommending the vaccines for <12's due to the lack of data on them (testing new drugs on kids is somewhat frowned upon), the very low rate of adverse (confirmed) Covid outcomes, and the fact that the herd immunity provided by everyone else getting vaccinated will likely be enough to protect them from infections. He's not just refusing to prove his point to me, he's refusing to prove it to himself, and that's just sad.

This is probably the ONE year we probably don't deserve a Stanley Cup anyway, given the recent findings of graves of thousands of children that were raped and murdered by our Catholic teachers back in the 70s.

I honestly don't get why everyone's acting like finding those bodies is some great tragedy. It's been common knowledge pretty much forever (at the very least, since the TRC completed its work in 2015) that kids were abused and killed en masse in the residential schools. Pretty much any survivor that can bring themselves back to the site of their school is able to point out places where kids are buried. The only thing that's changed now is that having it in the news has made it harder to ignore that reality, so everyone that has been ignoring it is prattling on about how it's so horrible and they feel so bad, and will continue to do so until the news gets bored of the issue and they go back to not giving a shit about the natives.

Finding bodies at residential schools is not news. The fact that so many are treating it as though it is is just a testament to how wilfully blind Canadians are to our history.
