The pacing, comedic timing, and jokes (to the extent there were any) were all off. It felt like the superficial aspects were all there but like Para said the writers weren't enthusiastic about it. The structure was more about giving exposition while using the format than actually taking advantage of the format to tell the story. At some points it honestly feels like the people making it don't like this style of sitcom and are having to write around it.
Yeah, I totally felt this way as well. It felt like a very stark contrast to me from, say, the first episode, where it's clear that the writers and directors loved this style and really wanted to do it right, and the result is honestly funny on its own merits. This, I didn't really feel the sense that they had jokes that they were really excited to do with this format, although I DO love the bit where Vision walks out.

I feel like this is definitely going to be our farewell to Vision by the way - I don't think he can survive this story and not end up completely undermining its themes. Wanda is going to have to move on for this story to reach a conclusion.

Yeah, I agree that the Modern Family style was used pretty weakly here - it didn't really feel like they had the same sort of enthusiasm for capturing that style as they did for, say, the first two episodes, or even last episode's Malcolm in the Middle homage.

IW, EG, Winter Soldier, and Ragnarok all most assuredly have at least one #1 ranking, if any of them didn't I'd be blown away (and by induction you can assume one of these is my #1 lol)

When I watch Civil War I enjoy the second half of the movie on a sort of visceral level but every time I sit down and actually think about it I feel like I rated it too highly, lol. I find the politics and character motivations of the movie incredibly trite and I think it's super weird to try to have like this super serious plot but then HERE'S SPIDER-MAN. Maybe I would have had more fun with the movie if I was in the moment and I like, didn't know Spider-Man was going to show up and stuff, idk. I just find all of the conceits of the movie kind of annoying, it's a collection of moments that I find exciting on their own but the whole thing isn't very cohesive and despite what people said it doesn't feel at all like a Captain America movie to me, it feels like an Avengers movie

#20 on the best-selling SNES games list. It's above stuff like Super Metroid and Mega Man X. The games above it on the list that are lacking in representation are Killer Instinct (definitely not a bigger deal nowadays), FFVI and DQVI (does at least have series representation), and DKC3 (which obviously does have series representation).

Crono would be slick but I don't think it's as important as you make it out to be. The game is extremely well-regarded among RPG fans but honestly isn't very mainstream and has probably been played by a million people at most. Being on GameFAQs makes the game feel bigger than it is.
Well, what game from Nintendo's history is a bigger deal and has zero representation in Smash? I tried to think of one and I came up short. Or I guess I should say game series, since there's a few individual games you could argue for, like Final Fantasy 1-3.

I think Chrono Trigger is probably more mainstream among Smash's audience than you think, anyway (and for those who aren't aware, it'd be a good one to learn about), but even putting that aside I just really can't think of a counterexample.

Crono. Not my favorite character by any means, but Chrono Trigger is the most important game in Nintendo's history that I can think of that isn't represented in some way, it would bring probably the best OST that's not represented in Smash, and it would complete the Noble Nine. It's also just one of the most generally hype picks I can think of.

I do think Wakandas aesthetic is pretty racist.

Like there are actual cities in Africa that look and feel african and African nations with modern militaries and none of them feature thatched roof skyscrapers or rpgs shaped like tribal spears for some reason.

Like Addis Ababa is a legitimately ancient city that has flourished in East Africa and it looks so fucking cool and also looks nothing at all like Wakanda.

The vision of Wakanda makes it seem like africa is synonymous with like nomadic "savage" lifestyles that exist mainly in the western imperial imagination - but its okay because theyre rich now and they continue to use MAGIC spears and MODERN thatched roof huts.
Well, I'm going to avoid calling it 'racist' because I don't really feel comfortable making that judgment, but I do think it's sort of lacking imagination in how to more smoothly modernize African aesthetics. I think the argument here is that looking at modernized African cities today, they still have a western influence, even in somewhere like Ethiopia which was never colonized, but even if that weren't true, that doesn't mean they would have modernized to have thatched roofs - that's like the equivalent of depicting a US with skyscraper log cabins. It does feel a little bit like tribal cosplay more than a fully thought out and realized version of a modern African nation. My problem with it is still more that it's all too cgi and never feels lived in at all.

I think the villain being a guy who hates Tony Stark works great in the first film, because that's a movie where nobody has a reason to hate Peter until he decides to stand up and be a hero, and the way that that conflict becomes personal is immensely interesting and satisfying to me (again: the car scene is my favorite scene in the entire MCU!) but I do think it falls flat in FFH where it feels too weirdly impersonal and silly at that point. The theme in FFH FEELS like "Peter Parker just can't separate himself from Tony Stark's legacy, no matter where he goes or what he does", except the film barely acknowledges this.

I feel similarly about Stark's involvement in the two movies. I think using him, an established character, in the first film is really creative and works well, but the second movie feels like it's having a harder time letting go of Tony than Peter does!

183 - Thor: Ragnarok
183 - Guardians of the Galaxy
197 - Avengers: Endgame
233 - Captain America: The Winter Soldier
256 - The Avengers
258 - Captain America: Civil War
297 - Spider-Man: Homecoming
306 - Black Panther
312 - Spider-Man: Far From Home

424 - Ant-Man and the Wasp
471 - Iron Man 3
497 - Ant-Man
513 - Captain America: The First Avenger
533 - Captain Marvel
533 - Avengers: Age of Ultron
569 - Thor
593 - Iron Man 2
653 - Thor: The Dark World
669 - The Incredible Hulk

Pretty good up to this point - I had AMatW and Doctor Strange quite a bit too high, and apparently I bought way too much into GOTG2's anti-hype. I honestly have no idea if I'm even right about IW being the top spot, it's weird to not be sure given how far ahead of the pack #1 is, it feels like only IW could be that much of a consensus.
