Regardless, I dont understand how maybe 10 minutes of Iron Man cameos makes Homecoming Iron Man 4. The focus is very clearly on Peter. When you have MCU characters that share a story together, featuring them is the smart thing to do. Why pretend Iron Man isnt his mentor when thats the story path going forward? Peters character development in Far From Home would make far less sense without Tony in Homecoming.

Pretty good up to this point - I had AMatW and Doctor Strange quite a bit too high, and apparently I bought way too much into GOTG2's anti-hype. I honestly have no idea if I'm even right about IW being the top spot, it's weird to not be sure given how far ahead of the pack #1 is, it feels like only IW could be that much of a consensus.

I got all three of the Iron Man films exactly right which is pretty good

I get bothered a lot more in FFH where the villains are literally just people angry at Tony Stark for like the 8th time in the MCU or whatever. Spider-Man has basically been used to clean up messes created elsewhere in the MCU. Which honestly goes completely against the "neighborhood" thing they were supposedly going for. Peter's own universe never really feels like it ever gets to be its own.

I think the villain being a guy who hates Tony Stark works great in the first film, because that's a movie where nobody has a reason to hate Peter until he decides to stand up and be a hero, and the way that that conflict becomes personal is immensely interesting and satisfying to me (again: the car scene is my favorite scene in the entire MCU!) but I do think it falls flat in FFH where it feels too weirdly impersonal and silly at that point. The theme in FFH FEELS like "Peter Parker just can't separate himself from Tony Stark's legacy, no matter where he goes or what he does", except the film barely acknowledges this.

I feel similarly about Stark's involvement in the two movies. I think using him, an established character, in the first film is really creative and works well, but the second movie feels like it's having a harder time letting go of Tony than Peter does!

I think Infinity War being #1 is impossible btw just because the point total is too low. With 32 lists you need an average of lower than 4th place for it to be #1, and metaing certain people's tastes in the topic I don't think it's universally liked to the point where that's even possible.

That's kind of how I feel about Winter Soldier, though. Too many people just seem to find Cap boring. I don't think that keeps it from a really high placement, but I think it would be enough to keep it from winning, especially by such a margin.

I'm 1000% sure Infinity Wars is #1. It's just really damn good on so many levels. Yeah, there's definitely critiques to it, but I can't imagine another film that is just at least a top 3 movie for so many people.

Honestly, I'm blown away first place is that far ahead of the tied number 2's.

I would guess top three are IW, Winter Soldier, and Ragnarok. I suppose Endgame could sneak in as well.

With GOTG2 still being in, I have to guess the original is #1. It's always seemed the widest appealing to me, and its distance from the others really helps it operate as a standalone film. It's also one of the few that I think does the weird Marvel brand of humor consistently well. In addition to being a Marvel film, I think it's the best light space opera film since Star Wars.

Everything else, I see some negatives (though I'll never understand the weird backlash against Black Panther) to hold them back. I personally find most of the team films underwhelming and have to imagine at least a few who actually submitted feel the same?

Sure, but his story that we're shown doesn't ever fall into that point.

Fights Avengers->Wants to be Avenger for 95% of a movie before deciding to stay small->Save a Wizard and then go to Space->5 years of poof->Stop Avengers level threat

uh, how? iron man is loaded with the kind of quippy humor that became the trademark of the MCU.

really don't get how you can say it's like "nolan's batman" or how people who dislike the MCU can think this is one of the best ones. would make way more sense for them to like the incredible hulk or something.

its not even really a superhero film, its just a fun spy espionage thriller where everyone is hydra

I think the idea is he himself sees himself as a kid as he doesnt have a lot of self-esteem/confidence like well, everyone at that age but in actuality he has a lot of strength and untapped power.
