My family has a history of diabetes on my dad's side, and I've been eating like shit since Friday - I had to travel to Sydney for my sister's wedding and cone home Sunday, which meant a lot of fast food, and ever since Monday I've been drinking my way through the alcohol I didn't drink at the wedding. I told my friend about the diabetes thing, and he's seen me drink 500ml of gin, four schooners of cider and 1.5 litres of 5% wine since Monday. Dude works in a chemist, so he asked me to come in and get my blood sugar tested.

I'm not very fit, and those bottles of Moscato were worrying me - only being 5%, and being as sweet as they were, I'm sure they were loaded with a fuckton of sugar. And my dad's diabetes has been weighing on me.

I just got tested. Ideal blood sugar level is 5.0 according to him, and he tested his own blood sugar this morning and got 6.9. I got my blood tested, and... 4.0. I'm below the threshold.

Keep in mind, I drank that Moscato and those ciders last night. That shit must be loaded with sugar. But my blood sugar is relatively average. I'm really stoked about that.

Me too, lol.

Anyway - honestly, I'm more willing to side with Duff here. If you want to exercise your legal right to practice your photography somewhere, you're more than welcome to do so. Given that you have the blessing of the team, coach or parents of a little league soccer game, that's fine too. But if a parent comes over and tells you to stop photographing their children? You should absolutely stop. You're not contracted to take pictures of the game, and your presence is making at least one of the parents uncomfortable.

You're just some rando standing at the side of a kid's soccer game, taking pictures of them. That's bound to look incredibly creepy and make people uncomfortable. Even if the photographer had the best intentions here, he should have stopped when one of the kid's parents came over to him and showed disdain for him photographing their kids. Doesn't matter if it's your random Joe Blow or someone like Hillary Duff. The photographer is in the wrong here.

Damn, dude comes here to pour his heart out and half of you go "lol cuck", even after he's like "yeah my life's pathetic haha" - poor form. Jesus.

I didn't think things would be that bad from the first couple of posts, but the more detail you give the crazier this situation comes across as. I can relate to feeling unable to cut the tie, especially on someone whose influence once inspired such positive feelings, but it really isn't fair to you to live like this. Who buys a second car with their ex? Do they have individual cars? Because in separations I've seen, it really is enough for the parents to have one car each.

I think that the folks in this thread who care about your story are giving you good advice. It's not as easy as following through on that advice with a clear conscience, like you're running a poll about what to get for dinner and when a consensus emerges you follow through - you're putting in the hard work now to exhaust your options and see if there's an outcome that's beneficial for everyone, instead of creating a rift or falling into a shortsighted decision that makes everything worse. That's how I see it, at least.

Good luck with the process going forward. If you feel like you're not being respected, or that you're constantly getting the short end of the stick in a relationship while giving everything you can to the other party, it's worth looking into that emotional inequality for everyone's sake. Partners should shoulder an equal amount of the emotional workload, or shoulder an amount that they're comfortable with while also having their emotional needs met.

There's no shame in saying that your emotional needs aren't being met, that there are things that make you uncomfortable in your relationship and that without some solid one-on-one time to work out how to balance the relationship, the differences presenting themselves may prove to be irreconcilable. At least, to the degree that you don't feel comfortable marrying her and giving these issues a legal backing.

With that out of the way - do you live in New Zealand? I'm Australian, kinda had a neat moment where I read your name. Obviously different countries, but it was like "oh, another poster from Oceania! :D"

tremain07 posted...
the people kinda don't really matter, tho. especially when everyone with power is gonna be backing Trump

Bernie is getting votes left, right and centre, to the point where he's winning caucuses and primaries like they're nothing. His voterbase is large and diverse, and a lot of people who were disillusioned or otherwise put off by the corporate shit show that 2016 was are mobilising this year and throwing their support behind Bernie.

You can be pessimistic about 2020 all you want, but the fact is that all that a candidate needs to become president is enough delegates, and enough votes. Hillary Clinton fucked that up by being propelled by media bias, losing a significant chunk of Bernie's voterbase in the process, and alienating the world with cheap, hollow rhetoric. 12% of potential Bernie voters are polled as voting for Trump after Hillary secured the nomination. This year, that voterbase is more active than ever, and Bernie Sanders is currently on track to get the nomination.

The second you go "it doesn't matter, other forces will bring Bernie down, it won't last forever and we'll just have another four years of Trump", you've played into the hands of Trump supporters. Look at their language over the past 6+ months - they taunt people with "four more years of Trump", never breaking from the script to the point where you might start to feel discouraged. Their rhetoric is united and strong - Donald Trump is going to get re-elected. None of the democrats are going to be able to beat Trump. He's going to be president for another four years, and there's nothing you can do about it. All it does is sow doubt, make people a bit more critical and cautious of the Democratic nomination process as it goes on.

The best way to counter blind Trumper horseshit is to get politically active, back a candidate and stand behind them. There's a reason Bernie Sanders has so much support - he's consistent, he's progressive and he's tenacious. You've already lost if you're giving into the Trumper doom and gloom now - Sanders has a massive demographic that goes across age groups and races that other candidates haven't managed to unite, and the thunder he's generating can directly challenge Trump.

You've talked about being depressed before, about not getting your hopes up about shit like this because you expect to be let down again. I understand the pessimism after 2016. But going out and saying "Bernie's doomed, even if the people want him rich people will sink him, there's no hope" only plays into the hands of Trump's supporters, and it furthers a message of hopelessness and lack of faith that warns other people to stay away. Even if you're not willing to get back on the Bernie bandwagon, understand that his sort of rhetoric only strengthens Trump's chances of re-election and the rhetoric of his followers, and further harms the chances of any candidate you might prefer.

If you hate Trump that much, dooming and glooming over his supposedly inevitable re-election only serves to make that reality more likely. If you're disillusioned, fine, but rolling over like this and ceding the next 4 years to Trump out of despair and lack of hope only serves to spread that same doubt to other people and weaken their trust in this election as well.

I think it's mostly Fake Vegy who I had a bit of beef with over the warned/suspended threads, other than that I don't think I've been complained about that much? Definitely picked my fair share of stupid internet fights on here in the last couple of years though.

Posts 3 and 4 make me think that TC's goofing off as well, to be honest. This thread isn't really worth taking seriously, if only because the Vic Mignogna thing isn't that big of a deal that I could see CE users tagging me in threads for spreading fake news. Honestly, let the dude have his fun. I got my licks in, now he's getting his.

I will say, I'm not opposed to the topic of the thread. We've had users like shokan_warrior who've more or less admitted to being white supremacists, or who otherwise admit to spreading as much misinformation around as possible to confuse as many people as they can. I think for the sake of maintaining a healthy community - which in itself is kinda lolworthy, seeing as this board as a known doxxer and a user who's made upwards of 40 alts in the last 2 years to shitpost and troll, as well as a subreddit where some of the biggest agitators congregate to talk shit about CE - letting people know who the biggest agitators and shitheads are is a solid idea.

I accepted the moderation, but my intention behind that thread was more or less my opinion. I think Vic Mignogna is gonna go to jail, at least on a good day.

There's no objective basis to this theory, and if it ends up being wrong then so be it. That doesn't change the fact that at the end of this, I wouldn't be too shaken up if Vic Mignogna went to jail.

I got modded for trolling, which was a fair moderation. Ultimately I wanted to poke a beehive for the sake of goofing around, and I had two opportunities to goof on the Vic Mignogna case. I can walk away from this with a clear conscience and a smile on my face - if you want to get all bent out of shape and make a thread speaking to the higher issue of people misrepresenting information for the sake of deception, then go for it. But it's really not that deep, lmao.

Auto battle in RPGs. That shit goes back to the 90's at least, in Breath of Fire 1 - most RPGs should at least have the option to put the battles on auto-pilot. There's no reason not to.

This goes doubly so for replayable RPGs with like branching paths or alternate endings. I'm playing through Final Fantasy X-2 for the second time (on PS3, I played the fuck out of this game on PS2) and it's a real slog. Finally going for that Mascot dressphere, but a lot of the shit I'm doing is getting real old. A basic-ass, rudimentary auto-battle system would be great - there's always the Berzerk status, but sometimes you've gotta drop out and heal, y'know.

The prison killer told the administration that he could get very violent against these prisoners if let out of solitary confinement, and the administration put him out into general anyway. He was cognizant enough to go "if you let me out there with these child molesters, there's a non-zero percent chance that I will beat them to death", and the prison staff rolled the dice on those odds.

Say what you will about the murderer objectively being in the wrong because murder is never justified, but keep in mind that he advised the prison to keep him locked away from general due to the high likelihood of him murdering these two child molesters. His plea was ignored, and it took one of the sick fucks watching kiddy TV shows for the express purpose of skeeving out the other prisoners for this guy to beat him to death. I'm not going to call him a hero, but the world is better off without these child-fucking sickos and there was an opportunity to keep them alive with the murderer's own admission which the prison staff didn't take into account.

Just played an apocalypse story where I drove off a cliff, turned into a zombie, murdered and ate a cruel orphanage owner who was keeping children as prisoners before proceeding to eat his prisoners, and got shot to death by an angry mob.

Current story is about a noble who escapes his gilded cage and decides to live in the forest. He comes across a bunch of dwarfs, and he asks if he can learn the Dwarven ways. So far I've gone to get water for the camp, as well as found my first ore vein and introduced pickaxes to the dwarves.

Seriously - when I first got there, the dwarf was telling me how to crush dirt and extract ore from it. When I broke through some stone with my pickaxe, my dwarf friend looked at me and asked how I did it in an excited tone of voice. I might have just introduced superior mining technology to the dwarves.

i would take this paragraph out tbh

Maybe it needs more workshopping, but I think it makes a solid, positive point of my sister's marriage in the face of bigotry against her sexuality. I also genuinely believe that people who would write off gay marriage, even in the face of a relationship that builds to marriage over a period of years, are being fucking stupid.

Would you recommend any changes to the language, or do you think the point as a whole should be nixed?

TLDR but I hope you are saying " I've prepared a few lines, but unfortunately my sister snorted them all already".

That is fucking amazing

I don't get along with my sister that well. We were both bullied in school, though she maintains that she had the worst of it since she would stick up for me against higher grades and suffer the punishment herself.

I remember her mostly from her active attempts to get me in trouble. This was to the point of getting my mum to yell at me for downloading internet porn when I didn't know what porn was - I was 11 or 12 and she was a teenager at the time, and I legitimately had no idea what was going on except "naked ladies bad". When we played NES games at my nan's house, on this 120000-in-one bootleg plug and play, she would always use the main controller while I got this dinky little plug in that barely worked. I always played support.

It goes beyond that - when my nan got us "Arcade Party Pak" for the PS1, we bonded over Smash TV. But I would have to hold off waves while she go the prizes, and if she died, she would smash one of the handles of her PS2 remote into my knee or ankle. Some time in the first couple years of her going to high school, before I was old enough to go, she made this thick, heavy wooden spoon - it had no real practicality as a wooden spoon, it was more of a club in its size and weight. On multiple occasions, she hit me in the knees and ankles with it as well.

I was a psycho at times too - at one point I snapped a wooden ruler in half and ended up stabbing her in the palm with the sharpest end. This was a very brief period of time in my life, after Smash TV and the wooden spoon - in my mind, it was retaliation for mistreatment beforehand. I regret that point in my life, but my sister still has the scar from that incident on her palm. So you can understand that this was a volatile relationship.

My sister got in contact a week ago and asked if I could say a few words at her wedding. I've been putting it off, but after a few drinks (that were meant to knock me out for a few hours and wake me up before I had to leave for the wedding), I put together a draft for a wedding speech. I decided to go for some broader topics and to fit my sister's marriage within them - which may go over well, considering that my sister is a lesbian who's marrying a woman.

Here's the draft:

It's been a rough few months for a lot of Australians. We've seen fires, we've seen floods, and throughout these events we've had our own personal struggles to contend with. So an event that focuses on union, on bringing people together - it's an event that helps to heal.

We're here to celebrate the marriage of [names]. Their love story might be beyond my personal understanding - I mostly remember my sister from the time I spent living with her, not so much in regards to her moving out. I can count the amount of times I've seen [other person's name] and her family on two hands - not to disparage the family, simply to reflect on the limited experience I've had with them. But even with such a limited frame of reference, it's clear that these two women have found happiness together, and that's a bond that's worth celebrating.

It takes a lot of effort to co-exist with someone. Some people may disagree and insist that their union is effortless - and while I respect the candor of that sentiment, I don't think it's the case for a vast majority of people. Even just living with a partner for a few months - let alone years - is bound to present its own share of personal issues, from the benign to the actively discouraging. In my eyes, it takes a strong personal bond, coupled with hard work, for a marriage to come to fruition. That's what we see before us today - two people coming together after years of experience in each other's company, tying the knot to confirm the love and appreciation they've felt towards each other for years.

There are people who would oppose such a union for the sheer fact that it doesn't align with their worldview. But if two people - regardless of gender, social standing, creed, religion or any other social modifier - can share such a strong bond, and work to accommodate each other over such a long period of time? That's worth celebrating. Why oppose a union this strong, this long in the making? I don't think there is a rational reason.

We're all free to chase whatever happiness we desire. If we can carve out a peaceful, happy niche for ourselves, it doesn't matter what other people think. It's the work we put in, and the relationships that we cultivate over the course of our lives, that matter. And today, we've witnessed the evolution of such a bond between two people - taking the baseline of love, appreciation and respect to the highest level. We should all be so lucky as to find the happiness that [names] have found with each other, and their marriage today only goes to show that in times of extreme division and crisis, the seeds of love can still be sown.

It's still a draft, I'll be working on the phrasing when I'm not drunk. What do you think?

It's been a while, but I remember gags like the girlfriend jumping into the pool and cutting 3/4ths of a birthday cake off to enjoy for herself being pretty shitty towards an exaggerated profile of fat people. The movie's about teaching a shallow prick the meaning of inner beauty, but it does that with the same fat person jokes that contribute to bullying.

It's probably a decent enough movie for the early 2000's, bit I seriously doubt it holds up.

It's less distracting, for me anyway. Not constantly seeing thick black frames in my periphery.
The frames add contrast, though. They can better suit a person's profile and be fashionable, maybe balance out something that wasn't there before.

Clear lenses, imo, just look fleshy and gross. You see the lines where the light refracts around the frames, so you know where the frames stop and the lenses begin. It's an unappealing look, in the same way that the heavy goggle-like pedo glasses with the giant plastic nose guard is unappealing.

I don't see that happening after how bad Ubisoft keeps fucking up.

Bad news, they're all in on the AAA development train. Fuck the years they spent publishing quirky, fun new titles, and fuck their silly older brands. Now it's all The Division, Watch Dogs, Ghost Recon and Assassin's Creed. If it's a realistic shooter, they'll whore that shit out with as much money as they can muster up.
