Why don't you open up to the people opening up to you?

Because I don't want to burden other people with my shit. I understand the contradiction in that, speaking freely between two people who are levelling with each other, but outside of very specific circumstances I don't want to impart that same sort of stress to other people.

I've also been traumatised by people levelling with me. No word of a lie - one time I confided in my dad that sometimes the happiest times of my life are when I'm eating, to the point that I want to be eating and/or full all the time just so I feel good. He confided in me that one of his older brothers molested him as a kid. I would have been mid/late teenager at the time - that's something huge that you tell someone you trust, but holy fuck that's hard to come back from, y'know. If I'm gonna be getting that kind of baggage in return, I don't want to share. And like my dad is cool and all, I love him a lot - but Jesus fucking Christ, hearing that sent me reeling.

Like damn, sometimes people need that outlet and a friendly pair of ears to help put things in perspective. But I don't want to dump all my shit onto someone else and make them process my problems the same way that they themselves might do to me. It's basically an extension of the golden rule, treat other people how you want to be treated - in this case, by respecting their privacy and personal space by keeping to myself

That's my best friend in a nutshell. He's the lynchpin of our social circle.

Saying that, though, I tend to be the go-to shoulder to cry on in my life. Members of my family don't have anyone else to turn to - partners or friends - so they come to me. My best friend also confides in me, and we have very similar senses of humor so it's usually alright. But the stress of being that person for multiple people, without having an outlet of my own (outside of the internet), is pretty rough on me at times.

There's definitely a case for what he's saying, but it would be a disservice to ignore the profound influence that Jewish creators have had on the superhero industry. Jerry Siegal and Joe Shuster were both Jewish immigrants who escaped from Germany as Hitler rose to power, and they created Superman. Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, creators of the incredibly nationalistic Captain America, were Jewish too. Stan Lee - born to Jewish parents, probably Jewish himself.

On top of that, the pioneers of comic books were predominantly immigrants. Every one of those pioneers were immigrants, and Jack Kirby pioneered the genre of comics that bridged a gap between the golden and silver agea of superheroes - romance comics. Without romance comics, there might have never been a comic book industry for superheroes to return to. The entire industry has been pioneered by Jewish immigrants.

A white supremacist who uses a comic book to uphold his racist ideology would have to be one of the stupidest motherfuckers on the planet. Comic books are considered an American medium, and rightfully so as they proliferated in America. Some folks call comic books one of the true American art forms, if not the one true American art form. But much like America itself, the comic book industry is built on the back of immigrants - and the roots of many popular comic book superheroes stem from the lives and experience of their Jewish creators. If comics today are a safe haven for neo-Nazis and white supremacists, then that's a problem that's sprung up somewhere along the way and it's worth addressing. But it wasn't always this way.

The comics industry, while plagued with rights and ownership issues and the same capitalist trappings that saw tens of thousands of workers denied fair pay and proper credit for decades of work across multiple industries, is ultimately one of the purest examples of the American dream. White supremacists have no place claiming comic books as their own, because if they met a comic book pioneer today, they would almost certainly beat the shit out of them due to their bigotry and malice.

MrMallard

He regularly engages with video game fans online, his demeanor during interviews is very friendly and respectful of the gaming space at large, and it's been under his leadership that the Xbox brand has been able to recover from the always-online, mandatory Kinect controversy that wrecked the console's launch. The console has still sold poorly, but it's been his reign that's actively tried to redeem the console with the S, the X and the upcoming Series X.

During his time heading the Xbox brand, he's brokered a deal with Nintendo to make certain games compatible between the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Cuphead, a game made by a company that Microsoft owns, got itself a Switch port - and Cuphead himself appeared in Super Smash Bros as a costume. Minecraft on Switch has Xbox Live compatibility, which is unheard of between different consoles.

Phil Spencer's time working on the Xbox brand has seen Microsoft make headway in making games more compatible with each other, and more open to everyone. The Xbone doesn't get a lot of respect, but the most positive things about the brand since the Xbox One copped a beating upon launch? Phil Spencer has been there to spearhead it.

I need to get back into it, I haven't seen the last several episodes (hoping they still have the ones I haven't seen on the CW app...).

That show has so many damn plot holes and inconsistencies in it though.

Also I want to marry Madelaine Petsch.

She's so hot on the show, oh my god.

yeah, the show basically operates on an episode by episode basis. I'm not a big fan of the overarching plot arc that season 4 has been doing because it's expecting you to stay hooked on every episode, but most of the episodes are just... episodic, tangentially related to the arc.

If the show didn't feel the need to jam the Jughead death thing down my throat every single episode, I would be enjoying it more on an episode by episode basis. I'm still enjoying it well enough, but it makes the Cheryl stuff and the gay tickling internet porn plotline so much less bearable when the show turns around and dangles Jughead's impending doom in front of me, begging it to take it seriously.

I think Toni is meant to be a grounding force for Cheryl, but this season she's just gotten dragged further and further into the crazy side of things. Yep, Cheryl is keeping her dead, mummified brother in the basement - I'll let her seat him at the table if it makes her feel better. Cheryl's crazy relatives are trying to run her out of the family business? Let's fucking murder one of them and feed him to the other two.

Her inconsequential effect on Cheryl this season was summed up perfectly in the last episode. When asked if she regretted how she treated Jughead during his life, Cheryl answered "...I'm sorry I said he looked like a hobo that one time :)". Toni looks at her with a tired "are you fucking serious" look on her face. But Cheryl just looks on with a grin on her face, happy as Larry. No grounding effect, just a tired "ffs Cheryl" look on her face while Cheryl does Cheryl things.

Cheryl is as bad as ever, and it's almost like Toni exists as an audience surrogate half of the time and a bland enabler the other half.

My friend finally got me into Riverdale last season, with the murderous DnD and the Gargoyle King and the "fizzle rocks" street drug. So I was pretty hype for season 4. It hasn't been everything I ever hoped it would be, that subplot with Archie's uncle was weak as dog piss and Cheryl Blossom annoys the fuck out of me, but they gave Jughead a cool death and the last few episodes have been pretty solid.

I don't like how they spent this entire season leading up to Jughead's death, only to reveal he didn't die 2 episodes later. But I noticed on the splash screen that his date of death is listed as March 18th 2020 - which is two weeks from now, or two episodes away. They might actually kill Jughead off yet, so that's interesting.

The thing about Riverdale is that now I want to learn the history behind the comic and stuff. It's an interesting and long-lived franchise.

I can get preferring more metaphor-heavy stuff, or something that goes out if its way to be more fancy, but sometimes blunt and direct prose works so much better.

Like damn, I don't want to be reading a Doctor Who fanfiction where two of the characters are represented by a moth and a firefly. Show me shit where The Doctor and her partner wake up in their own company and groggily address their love and commitment to each other - doesn't have to be Shakespeare, doesn't have to utilise every advanced trick someone learned from 11th grade English class.

It just has to depict that scenario in a well thought-out and entertaining way, regardless of the literary techniques used to create the story. If the language is simple and depicts the story in a short, accurate light, that can be just as good as something that goes out of its way to be more prosey. Both of them have their place, but we all have our preferences and I can respect yours I guess

Legit. If we're ranking pooping experiences on a scale of 1 to 10, this would be a 1/10. A 10 would be doing a solid, unbroken poop that makes you feel better, and the stars align in such a way that there's no need to wipe afterwards - a no-wipe poop that makes you feel 100% refreshed is the pinnacle. This one, in comparison, fucked my life up - at least for the day.

First, it woke me up at 6 AM. I have work at 9, so it robbed me of about an hour of sleep. That alone is an egregious offense. So I get out of bed and go to the loo, and it's one of those burning poops because I ate a bunch of sliced jalapeno chilies last night. It's cemented to the inside of my guts.

So I sit and wait. I basically have to meditate on the bowl so my body can go through the natural process of throwing my guts out the air lock. And it does not come fast - it's like molasses. Eventually I do a half-solid poop, partially lava, which strains my body and puts me in a decent amount of pain. So with that lump of coal out of me, I can just wipe and get on with my life, right? Nope.

I still have pain in my guts. So I sit there and let my body work everything out. Could have been 5 minutes, could have been 10. But eventually, by some miracle, my body isolates a bunch of shit it needs to get rid of. And I go through a solid 10 seconds of the most painful, awful lava shits I've had in months. Just a river of lava and pain.

The worst part is that after the volcano stopped, I didn't feel any satisfaction. I didn't feel good for having pooped. It felt like there was a multitude of poop left, and that I had only scratched the surface - though that was mostly the residual pain, I'm feeling a lot better now.

Overall, this was a miserable shitting experience. I'm gonna be tired for work, and I have a feeling that my next poop - even if it's a good one - will have to deal with the aftermath of this monstrosity. I would give it a 1/10 only because it didn't do any physical harm to my body - I've done some massive poops in my day, and I've dealt with the aftermath of doing girthy shits that have been brewing for weeks at a time. This poop was just pain on the inside, and it made for a miserable experience. Literally no other redeeming qualities though.

And Finn shouldve ended up with Rey, I dont care what anyone says. They had great chemistry from the start. Ill never understand why Rian Johnson wanted them separated for the entirety of TLJ.
